Chapter 4, Friend

Now even though I had decided that I was going to join the guardian tournament, I was still unsure on how I would get from one location to the next, i need someone to guide me, talk with me, I need someone who I could trust, but all of that sounds something like a “friend” which, based on my history with people, I haven’t been particularly great at finding, but then I thought to myself “since the people here don’t know who I am, I think I could be able to make someone my friend”

I inquired of the stranger if he knows anyone else beside me competing in the tournament, “actually I do, in fact I know 2 people who will be engaging in it, if you wish, I could introduce them to you” he said

“Yeah, I would like that, as a tourist, it would be fantastic if I could interact with people and establish friends here.”

“Alright, then just follow me”

I felt more concerned by the second as I followed him, but I did my hardest to remain cool. The surroundings actually helped me stay calm; the mainland is a lovely place with plenty of vegetation and the air smelling like a scented candle; it felt like pure serenity

“So what’s your name?” the guy asked me. “Korudo, what about you?” I responded

“Cedar, I’m actually named after my grandfather so I would be Cedar the 2nd, my grandfather was actually the guardian of the island a long time ago so he was really strong, that’s why my parents named me after him, unfortunately, I am not as strong as he was, but hopefully one day I will become even stronger than him”

“That’s a nice dream, do you also plan on participating in the tournament?” I questioned him.

“Not this year, even if I want to I can’t, I’m one of the observers so instead of battling it out there with you guys I’ll be observing you, but perhaps next year I’ll be a participant” Cedar told me

“So who are these two guys I'm about to meet, and how are they?” I asked him.

“Well, their names are Asahi Tametomo and Inei Satoshi, and for the way they are, they both act like complete idiots, but they’re good hearted people, Inei is a very intelligent person not only in academics,but he’s also a tactical genius, he uses his dagger in a swift firm way while thinking 2 steps ahead of his opponents, he’s also a wind user so it completely matches with his intelligence and weapon, watch out for him he’ll be a tough opponent if you face him in the tournament.”

“What about asahi?” I intriguingly questioned

“Asahi, he’s a very kind hearted person and has a sweet personality. Just don’t get on his bad side, he’s a fearsome archer who, on the other hand, never takes things seriously and is constantly joking around. “I’m like their older brother, you’re about to meet them, they’re in that archery range” Cedar informed me

As we entered the archery range we noticed two guys arguing, one wearing a red vest, and another one with a long cloak who had daggers that were on his hips which were carried by a belt.

“Because you were the one that was late moron, that’s why I get to go first” said the red-vest wearer

The one in the long cloak replied,

“Well, last time you went first, that’s why you’re supposed to go after me”

“Yup,Those are Asahi and Inei alright, the one in the red vest in Asahi, and the long cloak one is Inei” Cedar informed me

While disputing they both looked at Cedar and said “Huh.”

“CEDARR,” they both shout while running towards him “tell Asahi that I should be the first one next to go” Inei says “No, he was the one that was late, I should be the one to go, tell him Cedar,” Asahi explained

“Neither of you will be going first because you’ll be showing korudo around the island, and signing him up for the guardian tournament” Cedar stated

“I’m assuming you’re korudo, right?” Inei questioned me

“Yes, it’s nice to meet you both” I replied

“Let’s go to the school facility and see if we could get you signed up; we’ll be back Cedar” Asahi said

We left the archery range and proceeded to go to the school facility and then it happened.

“BOOM”
