Chapter 5: After Many Summers 3

*LEON*

I opened my eyes to the sound of curtains opening. It was mother, She allowed herself into my room again without knocking. "This woman and her lack of personal space," I grumbled in my head.

"Are you not planning on getting up? It is today you know?" She pulled the blanket from my embrace.

I was very much about to complain but immediately sat upright. How could I have forgotten? It was today. "The Night feast."  I have looked towards this day for a long time now. It has been a kind of a push for me.

Mother came and sat close to me and hugged my head to her chest. I could swear I didn't hear a thing she said since my head was literally buried between mountains but I think it was something like 'you are going to get them, darling'.

I know what a lot of you are thinking but please don't judge me. If you remember I did come back home, battered and bruised. The sight of me wounded broke her heart. She was already ready to go burn that school to the ground. And it would have happened too if father had not personally come to stop her.  She had always been my 'North star', so I asked for advice.

Of cause, I didn't tell her the whole thing. I mean, Would you? I am a man for goodness sake. I just told her I was bullied for being weak.  Then she decided to train me herself.

And oh! my gosh\, the hell I went through. I could have sworn that I kissed the face of the devil and was been hunted down by his most jealous mistress. Not to mention that she did it with a smile on her face. All the while\, continually 'telling' me how much she loved me and how it was for my own good.  This damned woman...*cough*

Please forgive me. She is still my mother, but her methods are horrible. And in the worst situations too. This one time she ensured I fought against a home of sleuth (pack of bears) drunk. Seriously people, who does that?

I mean the 'drinking' part.

I realized why my mother was so feared. I had heard during the war, she made a name for herself as 'SWEET DEATH'. I still ask myself what godly abilities father had to tame a woman of such high calibre. He must have also gone through a world of hurt.

"You'll wait for me in the training room. I'll be there in twenty minutes. I need one last check on your basics before we leave for Twin city."

"Yes mother," I replied.

It is true, as some perceptive people have guessed. This was not my home town. This place belonged to a cousin family. There were also royal in bloodline but had completely different tastes entirely. There did not share their province. But that did not mean that they were stronger than us, It just means they were less accomodating. Their family name was called Asmodeus.

I and mother have been here these two years and it was finally time to return home.

I got dressed in training attire and waited for mother in the training hall. It was a very large room. The put a football field to shame kind of 'large'. Don't think because of its abundance of space, it was easy to navigate. The entire room was divided into four with Terrans adapted from real-life environments.

When she arrived at the room, she held in her hands three small bottles. There each glowed in an eerie red light. I looked at her and hoped she was not planning what i thought.  But she broke my heart on the spot.

"You'll be facing three of them this time." She said laying the bottles to the ground.

"Three of THEM!?" The last time was just one and I was left passed out for the whole! day. How was I going to face three?

She saw the doubt on my face. "Don't worry you will do good. As long as you took the vile of blood I left you."

I looked at her and shook my head in reply.

She sighed loudly, "You need to start taking blood Leon, you need it. you have a lot of potentials but you are not utilizing it."

As most have guessed, I am now a vampire. But unlike most, I retained a strong sense of familarity with my humanity. My parents were surprisingly understanding about the entire 'drink blood' matter, besides it was not necessary for my survival. Just necessary to build my bloodlines. As it stood, I had unlocked two of them. And while that might not seem like much, it was very impressive. The elders in the family said I had the purest bloodline ever recorded. It was the closest to our Archdemon origin. It was so pure, that other vampire would thirst for it.

The reason for this hides in my birth. Do you all still remember that thing I said about a human in a vampire family?

Of cause you do. My birth parents were human. Just regular people like any other, except my then father, had a contract with the Isaac family. A very deep bloody contract. I don't know the details of it but my mother said my human father wanted to renegade on the contract and a clause in it killed him.

Why in the world will a human be in a contract with demon descendants you might ask?

The same as always; fame, power, wealth. But in the case of my human father, it was research. I heard he was a crazy scientist that was willing to do anything for the progress of his research. 'Absolutely anything'. So much so that he used 'me' an unborn child at the time as a lab rat. I was merged with a Philosopher's stone. Mother said I was the first and only successful experiment.  Apparently, hundreds of children died.

Don't ask me what a Philosopher's stone is. I don't know. I made my research but information on that experiment either did not exist or was tightly guarded by the elders.

Mother said I was a walking treasure vault. It made me wonder if that was the reason she got mad when I was hurt or it was just the undying love she had for me.

After my extensive training over the past year, I finally became a vampire early this year. It was a ceremony like no other. I really do not know what the big deal was about my ascension.  I had attended the ascension of the 'Twins' and they's was pretty much simple, only a hand full of people attended. And it was quite quick. It lasted for barely a few hours and it was done.

My ascension, on the other hand, had all the elders in attendance. Cousin families like the Asmodeus and Belphegor even sent representatives. They were more, but those two are the only ones I could remember. Father was very meticulous with the preparations, even my diet before that day was strictly monitored. Meat only.

It was supposed to be fathers blood alone for my conversion but I heard it was not enough. Mother and six others from the crowd had to assist with giving me their bloodline. When I opened my eyes, it had already been a month. Mother said father had lost hope about my survival several times and she was the only one with absolute faith in me.

*bleurgh*

What a lie. I could imagine she cried her heart out many times. Mother was always hard on the outside but a soft cushion on the inside.

I woke up activating the first bloodline on the spot. "Berserker". Mother had come to hold me down personally. I still feel sorry for what I did. I never liked hurting people.

Luckily for me, unlike other vampires, I still retained my ability to eat human food. Father had stared at me like a monster the first time he saw me still eat burgers after becoming a vampire. I was beyond glad when I discovered I could still enjoy actual food.

Seriously guys, who in the world would want to give up the taste of burgers for anything.

Mother did not reduce my training after my ascension. If anything, she multiplied it. My drills became more focused on the control of my abilities than my physical body. An equilibrium is required she always said.

Back to the training room...

I readied myself in a stance for defence but mothers voice immediately reached my ear. "You are not allowed to dodge or defend any attack. Your only option is to relentlessly fight.

She opened the bottles and three 5th level ranked lower demons came out of them. They were formed by the condensation of red mist. They were ugly looking, With malaligned faces and slim on their bodies. I could smell their stink from the distance I stood. They were very short in height, but if this was mistaken as the criteria for their strength, then a terrible fate was all that awaited the ignorant.

They each carried a different weapon and looked at me like I was dinner.
