On the way to the 27th floor, my nerves got the best of me, and I'm afraid that stranger might have noticed. But what happens when I'm nervous? Well, every time I get anxious, a small trace of my wolf scent escapes, and I pray that's not the case this time.
"For heaven's sake, why is this elevator so slow? It's not moving!" I cry internally. And as if by magic, the sound indicating our arrival on the 27th floor rings out.
I step out like a Formula One race car, and upon reaching the reception area, I'm greeted by a young woman with a friendly smile.
"Miss Jazmin, welcome. My name is Annie, and I'm your assistant. Allow me to show you to your office. Just sign the contract; I've already taken care of the company paperwork for you." "I really like this girl; she's very efficient. I'll have to find out what she likes so I can get her a Christmas present for saving me from filling out that annoying form," I say to myself.
"Thank you, Annie. Yes, please, and if you could bring me a double espresso, no sugar, I'd appreciate it. I think my blood pressure or sugar dropped; I'm not sure which, but I feel faint, like I'm going to pass out," I tell the young woman. Inside my head, I hear the voice of the luxurious Camila.
"It's not your blood pressure, silly. It's the nerves caused by our mate. When were you going to wake me up? If it weren't for the scent emanating from our mate's body, I'd still be asleep," my wolf says. "Oh no, I think this means more trouble for me." Camila has been longing for a mate to procreate with, and to prevent her from doing something crazy, I gave her a suggestion and put her to sleep. But apparently, it wasn't strong enough because she's here, and at any moment, she'll lose control.
"I expect you to stay away from him," I say.
"I don't think I can stay away from him; he's mine, he's my mate," she says angrily.
"Camila, don't make me put you back to sleep, and this time, we're not going together to release energy," I say threateningly, closing the connection with her before she can continue with her craziness.
The young woman guides me to my office, and I like what I see: a space just for me and very much to my liking, I'd say.
"Well, in that folder on your desk, you'll find your schedule and pending tasks. If you'd like anything changed, just let me know. I'll bring your coffee right away. Excuse me."
"Thank you, Annie. You may go. If I need anything, I'll call."
"At your service, boss. Don't hesitate to call if you need anything. I'll leave you to start working," the young woman says and leaves the office, leaving me alone.
❤️ The Author
Jazmin picks up the folder on her desk, opens it, and begins to go over her schedule for the day. She sees that she doesn't have much to do, just the usual tasks for her position and a meeting at 10:00 a.m. with the boss.
She tries to get a head start on a few things, and at 9:55 a.m., she gets up and leaves her office to attend the meeting with her boss. She doesn't have to walk far; his office is right across from hers. She decides to knock, and a peculiar scent wafts through the hallway, sending her nerves into overdrive. Her wolf is going crazy, screaming for her to let her out and find their mate.
Knock, knock...
"Come in," she hears from inside.
Jazmin's narration:
I open the door, and what I see freezes me in my tracks. How can one person have such bad luck in life? Well, these things only happen to me. My boss is the guy I almost kissed this morning. In short, my boss is my mate.
"Mate..." my wolf screams. "Give me control; I want to mark him as ours," she tells me, causing a headache.
"Control yourself; don't do anything stupid."
"I'm not going to; he's my destined mate."
"I already told you, Camila." And without letting her speak again, I cut off the connection.
"Miss...?"
"Sir... I... I came to speak with the CEO."
"Well, you're here talking to him. What can I do for you?"
"I'm Jazmin Salvatierra, the new manager of the company."
"You're very young to be a manager. How old are you?"
"Twenty-two years old, sir."
"Don't call me sir; call me Dylan."
"Okay, sir... I mean, Dylan. I'm at your service. If you need anything, you can call me."
"If I need anything? What should I tell you?"
"Yes, tell me."
"I need a kiss from you. Is that possible?"
Jazmin's face turns as red as a tomato upon hearing this.
"Mr. Dylan, I can't do that," she mutters.
"Then don't tell me you're here for whatever I need."
"I meant work-related matters."
"Ah... right."
"Well, sir, if you don't need anything else, I'll be on my way." Jazmin practically runs out of the office, Dylan's laughter echoing behind her, mocking her openly.
Dylan's Point of View:
I've had a cold for over a month. Oh my God, my sense of smell is gone, completely distorted. My wolf, Red, hasn't spoken to me in a while because he wants to wait for our destined mate. I keep telling him we can have some fun while she arrives, and he's still mad at me for that. So, I'm all alone. If he ignores me, I don't have to talk to him, right? (Ha!) He's a lost cause; he wants to play the saint, but I'm no saint. Wearing a robe isn't my thing. I don't think I'd look good in that outfit, and it doesn't suit someone like me to be like that. I don't play with those things. I'm shameless, but I respect religion.
Anyway, back to the story.
I woke up as usual, did my workout routine, took a long shower, and then got dressed for work.
I looked at myself in the mirror, pleased with what I saw.
"Don't be so smug and hurry up. We have a long day ahead of us," my wolf tells me.
"Red, man, it's good to hear your voice again," I say, teasing him.
"Don't think I've forgotten that you're not interested in finding our mate."
"Come on, man, let's put our differences aside and be one like before."
"Until you find a mate for me, I won't talk to you. You're selfish."
"Here we go again with the same old song and dance. Aren't you tired of saying the same thing?"
"You foolish human, I don't want to talk to you," he says and cuts off the connection.
Okay, isn't it supposed to be me telling my wolf what to do and not the other way around? You see, the thing is, Red and I don't get along because he believes in love, and I don't. But we make do in our human-wolf coexistence.
I finish getting ready and head off to the company. I have to be in early today; I was told a new employee is starting, and I like to know who I'm working with. I don't like to distrust my employees.
I arrive early, lost in thought, and I bump into a lovely young woman. I fall to the floor, and she lands on top of me.
"Get this woman off me before I accidentally crush her head!" Red says angrily.
"Relax, man; it was an accident," I say, cutting off the connection.
"Excuse me, sir; I wasn't paying attention," she says with those red lips and that angelic face. "Holy moly, what a beauty."
"No problem, miss, but please get off me; I can't be held responsible for my actions."
The girl jumps up as if startled. I see her blushing, and she looks so cute like that. I like how decent and classy she is, something noticeable even beneath her clothes.
"Ask for her number already," Red says mockingly. I find it strange because Red never shows interest in anyone but himself.
"Can you please leave me alone?" I tell that red nuisance.
"Sure thing, party pooper," he says and cuts off the connection, knowing how much I hate it when he calls me that.
I exit the elevator and see her in the reception area, talking to Annie. Well, well, well, it seems things are about to get interesting.
