Chapter 3 Explaining to Auntie would be difficult so she just made up a lie. The next day would be a Thursday, and Y/n never knew she would get something that would paint her face red.

I made it back home at 8:00 pm. I stood at door looking at it blankly, thinking of how Auntie would react if I told her I spent nearly 4 hours in detention because of a stupid exchange student.

I knew I couldn't tell Auntie about it. She would be disappointed especially when I'm a straight A student.

I just have to create a lie and keep it a secret.

That's the best way to go.

I sighed and ringed the doorbell. My Aunt's loud footsteps could be heard even three feet away from the door.

Auntie Samantha

Oh goodness gracious!

Auntie Samantha

Where in the world have you been!

Auntie Samantha

You returned four hours late!

She said, worried.

I was thinking of a lie.

I was-- at Hina's house. We were studying for Science. Yeah . . .

Auntie squinted her eyes, looking at my straight face. She was convinced and believed me.

Alright.

Auntie Samantha

But did you eat your dinner yet?

Of course I didn't- Instead of arriving and eating earlier, I wasted time at detention.

N-- no . . .

Auntie Samantha

Oh dear! You must be starving!

Duh I am.

That's why I came back💅

I laughed awkwardly, not knowing on how to respond.

Auntie Samantha

I made chicken. Come inside.

She opened the door even wider for me to enter.

I saw the house was clean like always. I looked at the sofa and saw my books weren't there.

I turned to Auntie and looked at her, perplexed.

Auntie, where are my books?

Auntie Samantha

Oh! I put them upstairs at your desk. Don't worry. I made sure the paper covers didn't get folded.

I was relieved when she said that. Last time she was careless, I was crying so hard because I just wanted my books to stay in good condition.

Thanks.

I sat down at the table and ate the pre-heated chicken.

Still perfect and luscious.

Auntie Samantha

So, Y/n. How was your day?

Uh oh . . . How was I supposed to answer this?!

Do I just say, "Hey Auntie! Today, a new student who looked terribly ugly gave me four fucking hours of detention and 80 pages of homework. I definitely do not hate my life right now."

Fine.

It was fine.

She raised an eyebrow to my response.

Auntie Samantha

Fine? What happened?

Goddammit.

Uh-- it was normal like always. I spent time at the library, I hung out with Hina and some other stuff.

Auntie Samantha

Okay . . .

Oh God. I could tell she was getting suspicious of my behaviour.

L/n Y/n

Anyway, I gotta go to my room now. For, something.

Auntie Samantha

Alright. I won't disturb you.

I nodded, grabbed my backpack, ran to my room, and locked the door. I put my backpack at the door handle and I throw myself in bed, groaning because I was never assigned to this much.

I changed into more comfortable clothes and started working with my assignments.

I finished in 2 and half hours. Awesome.

I was sooo tired and my head was aching so badly.

I drank some water and that cured my headache. At least now I can read some books.

I stood up and went to what people made their walk-in closet but instead was a whole place of books for me.

The space was big, meaning I had lots of bookshelves and books.

I just grabbed the book titled The Christmas Pig, by J.K. Rowling. Same author of Harry Potter.

I curled up in the blanket and began reading. I was enjoying the fact Jack and his toy were finding something he lost.

After like an hour, I fell asleep with the lamp open and my book closed. The blanket was covering my feet to my neck.

I woke up the next morning at 5am because I usually wake up at that time.

I did what I had to do. Take a bath, brush my teeth, style my hair, pick an outfit and blah blah blah.

I opened my door and could already smell breakfast. Pancakes.

I ran downstairs, to the dining table.

Good morning auntie!

I said, in a good mood. It's like I forgot about yesterday. Because y'know. Reading cures my bad mood.

Auntie Samantha

Good morning, sweetie.

Auntie Samantha

You're up early like everyday.

L/n Y/n

Yeah, I am.

Auntie Samantha

I made pancakes. One of your favorites.

My eyes glowed when I saw the fluffy pancakes Auntie made.

Wow! Thanks Auntie!

Auntie Samantha

Yes, yes. Now you eat.

I delightfully ate my breakfast with some stuff on it. I was also drinking some good coffee.

I finished eating so I put on new shoes with long socks that went above my knees.

I put on my backpack and wave bye at my Auntie and head off to school. I had some novels in my bag so I could read them at the library.

Luckily I made it early where there weren't a lot of students yet. I ran to the library and whip out a new book I bought online.

The title was, The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samntha Shannon.

I had it hardcover making it more safer and durable.

I enjoyed reading the first few chapters. I could read this thing in a day if I wanted to!

But just when I was on chapter 7, someone tapped my shoulder from behind.

I got startled because I wasn't expecting that. Plus it was pretty quiet until they said "BOO"

I turned around and sighed.

Jesus Christ, you scared me.

Hehe, I'm sorry.

He pulled a chair in front of me and sat down while looking at the books cover.

Can I see that?

He asked, pointing at the thick book.

Sure.

Here you go.

I handed him the book. He checked the title and guessed I was reading a fantasy book (because of the cover).

This book is thick.

I laughed at him.

That's just half of what I read in a whole day.

I blushed a bit. He likes it that I'm able to read a whole 800-paged book in one day.

I mean, I have experience with other books with more pages.

I stare at him, watching him walk away as I blushed even harder.

I wanted to scream so bad hut I remembered this was a library.

So I just continued reading the book I got until I would have class.

Besides. It would be in another hour.
