Katie: We don't want you to feel like we're prying.
Jimmy: Are you having your usual? Black coffee with a quarter cup of milk?
Julie: Wow! How did you know that?
Jimmy: I've been here for a few days and that's how you make coffee every signal day.
Julie: You're quite an observant, aren't you?
Jimmy: I guess I just noticed.
"We all sit at the table. Julie nudges the platter towards my direction, urging me to fill my plate first. I notice Julie and Katie watching me."
Julie: So? What do you think?
Jimmy: What?
"Cindy rolls her eyes."
"Julie ignores Cindy."
Julie: So, Jimmy, what's the verdict?
Jimmy: Not bad.
Cindy: Not good either.
Julie: I can deal with 'Not bad.'
Jimmy: But I didn't mean it that way.
"Julie sticks her tongue out and Cindy snickers."
"Katie seems to notice how uncomfortable I am, because she turns to face me."
Katie: Better get used to it, Jimmy. These two fight like cats and dogs.
"She lets out an exasperated sigh."
Cindy: And you're great at lying.
"Julie and Katie giggle."
Julie: I almost forgot to ask.
Jimmy: I also made sure all doors have double locks on them.
Julie: That's perfect! Thank you.
Cindy: You can now go with Katie. My classes won't start today until 9 am.
Julie: Yeah, we're sure. You can drive Cindy later when her classes start.
Jimmy: Okay. I won't drive you but let me walk you to the bus stop.
Jimmy: isn't that my job?
Julie: Yeah, I guess it is.
"After the school bus leaves, I go back to the mission and help Cindy with the dishes."
Jimmy: Let me do the dishes.
Cindy: Wow. I don't take you for someone who can do the dishes.
Jimmy: What do you take me for?
Cindy: I guess someone who does sports or plays computer.
Jimmy: I don't do either of those.
Cindy: Anyway, Jimmy. I can tell my friend who lives just a block away to pick me up, so you don't have to drive me to school.
Jimmy: I don't mind deriving you.
Cindy: I know.
Jimmy: It is my job to safely get you yo the place you're going.
Cindy: I understand that. I promise we'll be fine.
Jimmy: Are you sure you're going to be safe?
Cindy: Definitely. We have errands to do anyway.
Jimmy: I don't want to fail at my duties to protect you and your sisters.
Jimmy: How do you like your coffee?
"I pleced the mug of not water on the table."
Jimmy: There you go.
Jimmy: This is amazing! One of the best meals I've had for a long time.
Julie: Oh, really?
Jimmy: This has got to be one of the best meals I've ever had.
Julie: Thank you, Jimmy. You're making me want to pursue my passion in cooking.
Cindy: Yeah, in the fridge. that moldy one, right?
( She's joking, right?)
Julie: Wonderful!
Julie skips back with a silence of blueberry cheesecake in her hands.
Julie: Try this one.
( is she serious?)
( She wants me to eat it...!)
( Why does she have to feed me?)
(They're all looking at me. This is getting awkward.)
"Everyone seems to be waiting for me to take a bite, so I do."
"Julie leans toward me, expecting a comment."
Julie: How is it?
"Julie looks really pleased with herself and I'm glad I was able to make her happy so easily."
Julie: That's so sweet. Thank you.
Cindy: Alright, that's it. Julie is literally treating everyone like a toddler, it's not just me. I'm relieved.
Jimmy: Where did you learn how to cook?
Julie: Well, I used to help my mother in the kitchen. Most of the recipes I can do are what I learned from her.
Jimmy: She must be an exceptional cook, then.
Katie: She is! Gosh, I realized just now how I miss her cooking.
Julie: One of the recipes I'm best at. I'm sure you'll love it.
(She already has too many responsibilities. There's too much on her plate for her to handle right now.)
Jimmy: However, I know you might be really busy, so I wanted to let you know that you don't have to do that.
Julie: I insist! I would love to cook for you.
"I blush."
( What else can I do but agree?)
Jimmy: That sounds perfect. I'm looking forward to that.
Cindy: I just didn't take you as a man who has done dishes in his life.
Jimmy: I have probably washed more dishes in my life than three of you combined.
Cindy laughs.
Cindy: You're probably right.
(I resisted my urge to shout.)
(I have to calm down.)
"As I clutch on my stomach the culprit reaches for the gun."
(His gun! I need to reach it first before he does...!)
Jimmy: Don't think for a second that you're getting away with this
"You'll regret killing me."
Jimmy: The only thing I'll regret is not killing you sooner.
culprit: You don't know who you're messing with.
Jimmy: Tell me exactly who I'm messing with. who hired you?
"The culprit smirks."
culprit: Don't you recognize me, Jimmy?
( What is he taking about?)
(Who is he?)
Jimmy: How do you know my name?
"I keep the gun pointed directly at his head."
Jimmy: Who are you?
culprit: I've seen you quite a few times. You were the popular one.
culprit: You're the one my master was so fond of.
culprit: He used to say that you're the most skilled assassin he has ever known.
culprit: You don't have any idea how proud he was of you.
culprit: And how disappointed he was when he learned that you betrayed him.
( is he a fellow assassin in our organization?)
Jimmy: I don't know what you're talking about.
Jimmy: just shut up and tell me who your Master is.
culprit: We serve the same Master.
( What?!)
( I need to protect them more than ever.)
( Or should I kill him?)
