Chapter 5

Oliver also discovered that his father had another wife in the past with which he had daughter but divorced later on after he discovered that she cheated on him and was paying life support to them. Oliver only saw his step-sister twice and that was it. Only herring that she found a husband and had 2 kids later on.

His father came back home after finding a job closer to home after being away for 2 and a half years. It didn't work out that good with the new job though quitting not long after. He then tried a job at the farm his Mother worked at taking care of a new area that they bought. Of course again it didn't work out in the end with the boss there finding stuff missing saying he heard from others the he was seen drunk like a pig while others were stealing things from there after working there for 5 months. After arguing back and forth he left from there and switched another 3 Jobs. In the end he still ended up working with the same business that was found of fraud but had a new name now. Nothing changed there besides the name. Still the same boss, still the same workers. Even though they were much fewer now and so they had more work to do with the same pay. His father was the oldest there and he naively showed that he was good at all there while trying to teach and help new employees which backfired on him and the boss made him do work on all fields there. Like making the metal doors, painting them, helping out to carry them to the truck that was delivering them or helping out to set them up for the client and fixing them when there was a problem. All that with a minimum wage. Oliver's father was old now. He also was found that he did truly had problems with alcohol too.

But somehow Oliver managed to go to college. He applied to an Engineering college and was accepted. He still had to do the same routine tough of waking in the morning and going by train to get there. He managed to somehow pull trough and took his exams.

His mother couldn't afford the checking's that were needed to be made after her operation. And that city was quite far too so she chose to not go anymore after the first check. She wasn't allowed to eat anything that was sour or hot but she couldn't not help herself. And when she couldn't she would most of the time throw up all night and feeling sick. Oliver could hear her every time. He was trying to focus on studies spending most of his time în his room with no friends to share his burdens too. His only release being small things like listening music, doing sports în his room or reading web novels.

He was asking his mother from time to time saying:

"Why are you eating this stuff when you know, you know you are not allowed and that you will be sick if you do!?"

"Why am I living then?" His mother would reply. Making Oliver say something like:

"You want to say that you only live for eating!?"

It was panful. Hard days that no one knew about besides those involved. Oliver was thinking that others had it even worse then him. He was aware of the shady things happening in the background of this world. Things like rape, murderer, peoples killed by their own family, acts of terror, psychopaths', serial killers and so on. It was a dangerous world out there and Oliver heard of it all. Internet was dangerous as well allowing this kind of information to spread. Haiden in plain sight.

Moving on with the story Oliver passed trough it all somehow and manager to take his Degree with flying colors.

He wanted to go to the army after that but not surprisingly he failed his psychological test so he had to try and find a normal job in the end.

He wasn't very lucky with it in this small city with few opportunities coming by. His first job was as an waiter assistant at a pool after many job applications and phone calls. It seemed like his so called degree wasn't helping him at all. His country was a small one with a very bad administration and full of corrupt politicians that were taking founds from bigger ones saying it was for the betterment of the country when they were actually slowly selling the country over and keeping most of that money for themselves while putting on a front of having many projects going on which most of the time were half way abandoned saying they have run out of founds. It was a laughable situation were those involved were laughing while the rest of the peoples from the country had to suffer because those leading them were leaded by greed.

Most of those hiring didn't actually gone to any college choosing "the hard way" as they thought it and doing meager jobs right after high school until they raised enough capital and knowledge to open their own business so they were kind of looking down on people like Oliver who chose to continue his studies but didn't have any actual experience in work industry so after a quick interview most of them didn't even bother to call and let the person know they found someone more fitting for the job and just left them hanging and hoping.

Even this job of waiter assistant that Oliver managed to get at the pool was only because the boss there was searching cheap labor workers and paying the very minimum wage which he then cut to half in the first month saying there weren't that many clients and that he didn't had that much things to do. But Oliver was waking up in the morning getting on the train and standing up for 8 straight hours with a little break here and there and only one meal. Oliver might not have been at his best but he was doing all he could. Not to mention that he had to carry heavy stuff up the stairs some of those days. Including getting a few refrigerators that were in the basement up on the stairs. He wasn't alone but still 5-6 guys lifting those heavy things up the stairs was quite the work out with one of the managers even pointing out "If those guys up there on the other end somehow drops it this thing can crush you guys!" to Oliver and one more person. He was so helpful by stating that fact that Oliver showed him his best smile that he could muster up. He had a lot of bruises all over his body after one month and most of them he didn't even know how he got them. Having his salary cut by half was the cherry to top it off. Plus he asked around and heard that one of the girls took her salary a week early and it was the full one. Asking his college he made him spill the beans and discovered that guy too got his salary in full just the day before he got his half. Oliver realized this guy was making differences between his workers so he let him know be sending him a massage telling him he was not happy about the pay. Of course his boss told him it's all cool and that they will work it out tomorrow. Getting back to work the next day his boss was pretending he was busy. Oliver told him good morning and started his routine thinking to talk when he was more free but after waiting for 4 and a half hours he saw his boss didn't have any intention to start the talk. Every time Oliver was passing by he was either finding something to do or fumbling with his phone. Oliver saw him more then 3 times him sitting and just watching the pool and people having fun right after he passed by. He felt humiliated...it was his money that he worked so hard for and now that he only got half and the rest got the full one and then his boss saying that they will talk it out but with 0 interest to start the conversation and just waiting Oliver gave in. He couldn't take it anymore so he decided to just leave and not look back.

'You wait for me like a king awaits his subjects to come beg for the money that I should have received in the first place! I'm tiered of your stupid games. I still remember when you told me to go pick up the leaves and trash from bushes from the park surrounding the pool because you have an event tomorrow is what you f.u.c.k.i.n.g said! And after I was done and came and told you jokingly "Hey man. Do you really have an event tomorrow?" you told me with a stupid smile on your face "Nah. I just said it like that." And it wasn't even my job. You had a gardener for that! Well enough is enough! I will leave and then you will be the one to look for me. You will be the one that will need me! But by then I will be long gone!' And so after talking with one of the girls that he was getting along quite nicely and telling her that he will just leave Oliver started doing just that. The girl did shoot his way " Hey at lest eat something before you leave!" but Oliver didn't turn back. Acting like he was doing one round around the pool to pick up trash like his boss made him do it he slipped trough the back and walked away. Once on buss he opened his phone and blocked his boss and the manager s phone numbers going on to block them on the chat app they were using as well and leaving the group with not a word left. They didn't made him sign any contract of work anyway even tough they were saying they will and were just pushing it with "We will have them. Don't worry." so there was no reason to not just straight away just leave.
