Yep, I feel that most villains have had some past to make them be how they are. It's like saying how man is always in a state if war, but people will argue that man are in a state of war because of the society. It is what made them go corrupt. Similar in this case, Francisco became a person withe the title of villain, because of his past, and the environment he grew up in.
