Chapter 4: A Helping Hand
Jungkook, at the moment, was busy with paperwork. Ever since he replaced his father's position,
Jungkook is always busy maintaining their company on top to make his deceased father proud.
He learned to be self-reliant and accountable after his father's death.
The Jeon's are always known to be promising and well respected.
They never take failure as an excuse for one's stupidity.
Fail, and you'll never see a bright future ahead of you. That's what his father always taught them.
That's why no matter how much you validate yourself, if you're not deserving, then you're doomed.
Jungkook knew his father was wrong and that his father's view of life was immoral. Because what his father said was otherwise.
He always feels pressure, but he's not going to stop believing that failure is the first attempt in learning.
Soon, he wants to have a mini him to show his love and give him his everything, which Jungkook never felt with this father.
The love, affection, and care he had never experienced since he grew up. Well, to have his mini him, he first needs his paramour.
The doors of his office slam wide open, welcoming his sister.

I'd appreciate it if you knocked.

Anyways, I'm not here to argue.

Hearing those words that came out of Darlene's mouth made Jungkook scoff.

Before Jungkook could even speak anything against her, she stopped him.

She has good records; can be considered helpful.

He had no time to complain, so he agreed.

She'll be coming here in an hour.

I just minded my business with my laptop, and Darlene instantly walked out of the room, giving me serenity.
Someone knocked at the door, reminding me that my new Secretary had arrived.

Good morning, Mr.Jeon. My name is Park-

You are Park Y/N, my new selected Secretary.
Jungkook
I already read your resume.
Before she responded, she stared at me carefully,
like she was bewildering my facial expression.
Y/N
Oh. It's my pleasure working with you, Mr. Jeon
I ignored what she said and just gave her a cold glare.
Jungkook
I don't need any of your opening addresses.
Jungkook
Just go out and start working. I'll call you when I need you.
She whispered 'rude' to herself, but it was audible for me to hear it.
She glanced at me and said,

Nothing, Mr. Jeon. I'll be leaving now.
I straighten my back, making sure I'll be getting a good first impression from my boss.
I knocked at the door nervously
I entered the office, and a familiar face greeted me.
The guy from the elevator. Seriously, Y/N.

Good morning, Mr.Jeon. My name is Park-
Jungkook
You are Park Y/n, my new selected Secretary.
Jungkook
I know. I already read your resume.
This man is hell colder than Antarctica.
Y/N
Oh. It's my pleasure working with you, Mr. Jeon

He doesn't seem that bad.
After he told me that he was already gone out of my sight.
Now, how do I start investigating?
First, I need a plan before doing something I might regret later.
Not 2 minutes passed I heard some whispers outside my office.

No, Mr. Jeon. Please, I need the job.
What could supposedly happen in minutes?
Jungkook
I am not paying you to gossip around, especially during work hours.
He thundered, making everyone flinch and zip their mouth.
My face was shocked, and a staff that was standing beside me noticed.

She talked around because she wanted to comfort one of the staff who has lost a loved one.

Is Mr. Jeon always like this?

Yeah. When he's not in the mood.
I really feel bad for her, though.
She doesn't deserve that kind of treatment.
She was just considerate.
Knowing she would be fired just for a stupid and fake reason, I decided to step up for her
I walked towards Jungkook and grabbed his loose elbow.

Mr. Jeon, maybe she has her reason. Please let her explain.
People's eyes widened seeing me interrupt Jungkook's outburst towards the girl.
The girl was shyly bowing her head down; her hands were fidgeting.
Jungkook
How dare you interrupt me like that?
Jungkook
You do you want me to fire you instead?
Jungkook
It's your first day, yet you have the urge to speak back to me.
You have no idea how cold-hearted you are, Jeon.
Sena
No. Mr. Jeon. I will take it. Don't include her in this mess.
The girl said, tears brimming in her eyes.
Jungkook couldn't say a word after that, so he just left.
The girl immediately embraced me after he left, crying her heart out—poor girl.
As an FBI Agent, I always got to encounter scenarios like this.
That's why my conscience can't handle if I couldn't stand out for the girl.

Thank you for defending me.

May I know your name?
Sena
I think your Mr. Jeon's new secretary.
Sena
By the way, my name is Sena.
She introduced herself and stuck out her hands towards me for a shake.
Y/N
Yes, I am. Nice to meet you.
She apologized once again if something might happen tomorrow because of the incident earlier, but I reassured her that I would be fine.
I pack my stuff and head out of the office.
I made sure she was okay before going, and Sena said she was better now.
I entered the basement, walked towards my car, started the engine, left the building, and called it a day.
The mission continues. 🕵️♀️

May I remind you who you are.
Jungkook
You're only my secretary whose job is to help me with office work, not to tell me what to do with my decisions,
Jungkook
And I didn't ask for your opinion in the first place.
