Why is he here?

Jin BaiYi is the Jin BaiYi back in middle school?

M-My senior??

Su MeiYao noticed me acting weirdly.

"QiQi? Are you okay?"

"Yea, I’m okay." I replied.

Take it easy, QiQi.

I controlled myself and straightened my back when I felt the presence of someone watching me.

I glanced around and spotted a man beneath me. He was looking in my direction.

I nearly collapsed from my seat for the second time.

Jin BaiYi?

Did we just make eye contact?

He won’t recognize me, right?

No, it had been so long. He definitely doesn’t remember what I look like.

My thoughts proclaimed it clearly.

"QiQi? Are you sure you are alright? "

My best friend beside me was worried.

"Yea, I’m fine.”

I took a peek beneath and spotted that he was still watching me.

“The weather is hot today. I want to go buy a drink.”

Simultaneously, I rose myself up from my seat and glimpsed at Su MeiYao.

“Do you need anything?"

"Um… Buy me a yoghurt drink. Thanks!"

I nodded my head.

"Alright.”

In haste, I walked down the steps and left the field, trying my best not to peer at him.

The distant traces of a smirk showed on Jin BaiYi’ s lips and soon he parted his lips.

“Let’s begin.”

Gu ChenSian and Lu KaiJing turned to face him.

"Huh?!"

They both said it at the same time. When they came to a realisation, both were annoyed and faced away from each other.

"Whoever scores three points first wins."

Gu ChenSian shook his arms from his buddies and raised his eyebrows.

"That’s all?"

"Do you want more?"

Gu ChenSian chuffed as he crossed his arms.

"Tch, whatever. Just prepare to lose!"

He said it with confidence and contempt.

Jin BaiYi knew he was aware of this mockery. He couldn’t care less.

In the basketball court, Gu ChenSian and Jin BaiYi were in their position.

Lu KaiJing volunteered to be the referee.

As he placed the whistle to his lips, there was serious tension in the atmosphere.

The battle will commence this very second.

Lu KaiJing took a deep breath and the sound of the whistle echoed through the court.

The match had begun.

I pressed a button on the vending machine and a sound ‘Thump’ was produced.

A bottle fell down and into the pick up box.

I inserted a dollar again, pressed a button beneath the yogurt drink ad and another bottle dropped down into the pick up box.

Concurrently, I crouched down and grabbed the two bottles from it.

A sparkling water bottle and a yoghurt drink.

I strolled down towards the nearest bench and sat on it.

There was no one here.

I assumed most of them had gone to the sports field to watch the ongoing match.

I twisted the cap and drank a gulp of the ice cold water before closing it back.

It was refreshing.

Leaning back against the painted-white wooden bench, I gazed up at the sky.

The blue sky was dotted with fluffy white clouds that drifted lazily in the gentle breeze. The afternoon sun bathed the far away buildings in its warm rays.

"Today is a sunny day."

I shut my eyes and breathed in the cooling yet warm air. However, bothersome thoughts kept forming in my head.

Was he really looking at me?

Does he remember me?

Does he recognize me?

Do I still like him?

That last thought made me jolt myself back up.

"No QiQi! What are you thinking? Wake up!"

I slapped my cheeks to wake myself up.

The intrusive thoughts fade away.

My phone vibrated. I pulled my phone out from my pocket and turned it on.

There was a single message displayed on the screen.

“A message from My BFF YaoYao”

It read, QingQing, where are you? The battle had begun. Come back quick or else you will miss it.

The last sentence ended with a winking emoji.

"What are you up to again?"

I sighed and shoved my phone back into my pocket.

Standing up, I moved a few paces before my annoying, disturbing thoughts popped up again.

Jin BaiYi is still there…

Ugh, should I go or not?

But what if I bump into him?

What if he remembers me?

How should I reply?

No QiQi. When have you become so timid and scared?

Get it together!!

I closed my eyes and reopened again.

"Alright, let’s go back before YaoYao gets mad at me."

Self-assured, nonchalant and positive, I walked back to where the match took place.

Behind her, stood an anonymous person. He had been watching Lin Qi for quite a long time.
