Episode-3

"Hello mate," he greeted me as he moved to sit on the chair beside the bed . "What's your name?"

"Hazlynn Pierce."

Up until now, he had made zero physical contact with me. That particular fact left me frowning . Back in my old pack,

once two mates meet, they lock themselves in a room and don't come out until their scents were mingled together.

They're weird people, I know.

"Where are you from, Hazlynn?" his face never once betrayed an ounce of emotion as my name passed in his lips while I was left thankful that I had the support of mattress underneath me. His was doing things to me.

"White Moon. " I tried not to blush as I answered his questions. I didn't want to continue on with my-less-than-proper thoughts.

His eyebrows shot up. "Daughter of Alex Pierce?"

"The very one. " I didn't like how formal our conversations were going on.

"I'm sorry for your loss."

I knew that my pack didn't survive .Yet, that didn't make the pain hurt a little less, or eased the sorrow in my heart .My eyes started watering and I hid my face behind a curtain of my hair as an attempt to hide my face.

All of my previous feelings dissipated and I felt .. lonely out of a sudden.

My parents are not died!

I wanted to shout it out to him so badly , but I chose to keep it in.

"I will hunt them down for you." He snarled with a ting of hatred and anger.

"I would like to do that myself, when the time comes." I whispered my request, knowing he would hear me .

"Of course, not!"

"What if you get hurt? As the Luna of the pack, and my mate," he continued . " You have to take care of your own safety and the others who would have die if there was even one strand off your hair ."

His threat was real , that much I could tell.

" Are you always this loud and direct ?" I asked daringly , my eyes darting up to meet his. They were still filled with tears, but as this point , I was way past stage of caring.

He looked taken aback by my sudden bravery before masking it with a face of void emotion.

"Yes." was his curt reply as he turned away from me.

"What's your name ?" I asked, breaking the silence between us.He eyes that were still staring at me intently narrowed slightly, like a wolf eyeing up at his prey.

The only problem was, I was not planning to be eaten alive.

"Darius King."

That name sent shivers down my spine but this time, not in a good way.

Now I knew why he was behaving this way.

To be honest, I felt a little hurt by the way he was treating me, as I was just any normal member of the pack . Granted, I was not even a member of the pack of course , he was given the nickname of "The Heartless One" for a reason. Stories about his conquests were what made us not being able to sleep at night as kids.

And to think that he was just a couple of years older than I was. That was the scariest part.

Stories told, he dad was brutally murdered by a rogue who had joined forces with other rogues when he was just 10. At 15, he had killed the entire rogue- pack with his bare hands and claws.

From then on, there was no turning back for him.

He became the most feared and respected Alpha of the country, earning him the title of 'Blood Alpha' . He preferred not to kill innocent men, women and children, a trait I found honourable. Like his surname, he was declared King of the Alphas but his bloodline was never the strongest.

That title belonged to my pack, or rather , what was left of it.

He must have seen the horror and the slight hint of unease in my eyes because he spoke rather nonchalantly and answered what was supposed to be my next question."Ask away."

"Are the stories real ?"

"They most likely are." He shrugged before getting up from the chair.

I stared at him, probably looking like a fool, what with my widened eyes and my jaw- dropped expression. I was expecting something between the lines of a 'no' or a 'I don't know what you're talking about'.

Anything, but this.

With that, he walked out, not bothering to see if I was fit to walk and not even slowing down his steps to wait for me.
