By th time they got home, it was already past 4 AM. Hoseok, who had already taken a shower hours before, went off to bed and passed out as soon as his body hit the mattress. Jimin had still to get ready for bed and by the time he was done, it was already 5 AM.
He sighed, directing some wind to his bleached bangs, Jimin realized then how little to no sleep he was going to get if he wanted to make it to his appointment with Namjoon on time.
Oh well, he thought to himself, at least I finished the first part of the choreography.
As he drifted off to sleep, on the other side of town, there someone else who had no plans of falling asleep so soon into the early hours of dawn.
No one was in the building besides Yoongi and the security guard who had just got into his shift and had checked in on Yoongi’s office after noticing the light still on.
“Oh, I’m working! Yeah, don’t mind me!”
Yoongi had been there since dinner, which was surprising he even had it since he rarely caved in to his friends' requests on going out for a meal. That night was different and yet he still ended back in his little cave.
He enjoyed going out with his friends, but he still had a few tracks he had to work on and the deadline, which he had established himself, was coming up very soon, the producer couldn’t waste time sleeping when he could be working on the songs so, for the time being that’s what he often chose to do. Those days, all nighters were regular events on Min Yoongi’s daily itinerary.
No one was really pushing him to deliver the tracks as soon as he could, but he liked to have everything ready as soon as possible, the early he handed it over for revision the more time he had to fix anything they seem not to like as much. That way if anything was ever to happen, which was never the case until then, Yoongi wouldn't have to worry about delaying the deadlines. It made him feel free knowing he had the time to work on it to make it just perfect yet there was still some pressure to achieve perfection. When he spoke of it once to his friends they couldn’t understand where the pressure came from, if from his bosses or himself. They didn’t ask. It was conflicting for Yoongi too, but that was his job and making music for a living was what he was most passionate about. If asked about it, Yoongi wouldn’t miss a beat saying that he wouldn’t change it for the world and, if further allowed, he'd spend hours on end talking about every little detail of it that excited him most.
The last time he had caught a glimpse of the clock, it was around 2 AM, since then it had already passed almost up to 4 hour's and only then did the thought of resting went through him, and for the sole reason that his head had started to ache, something, he knew very well, wouldn’t let him make any progress if any attempt to endure the pain was made.
So, Yoongi finally stood up and looked at the clock while stretching, confirming his suspicions that soon enough the cleaning staff would enter the building to start a new work day.
He headed over to the "smallest and most uncomfortable couch in the world, as his friends had dubbed it, that was in the corner of his studio room and lied down on his side against its black fake leather, whispering to himself that he’d only sleep for a few minutes until his headache went away.
And, well, he did sleep for a few minutes, alongside a few hours as well.
The next morning, Yoongi woke up with a loud bang on his door. He grunted, his headache still present despite the unexpected hours he had slept through. He sat up and adjusted his sore neck.
Jungkook was right, I should get a new couch, he thought to himself.
He got up, squeezed his eyes shut one last time before opening them wide as a big yawn came out of his mouth.
“Who is it?”
“Sir? It’s Yumi” the secretary announced with a soft voice “I just wanted to make sure you were in there... I didn’t see you get in and-”
Before she could finish her explanation, he opened his door, showing the small lady his bed head and puffy face.
“Yeah, I’m here!” Yoongi assured her with a chuckle “I’m heading out to go eat something though, so If someone needs me while I’m gone, call me.”
“Yes, sir.” Yumi smiled not asking anything else, since she knew exactly how Yoongi was, and left.
He closed the door after she disappeared down the hallway and sighed. As he started to stretch his body, he caught a glimpse of the clock. It marked 11 a.m.
“Fuck.” He whispered to himself.
He had slept longer than planned, 6 more hours to be exact. Now, no one would kill him because of it, Yoongi had established himself as someone who could do his job without having someone looking and breathing down his shoulder, if anything his higher ups tried to make him not work as intensively since they worried about his health more than he probably did. The only person bothered by the time lost with sleep was none other than Yoongi himself.
Luckily, he was almost done with the task handed to him, and he still had a few weeks before the deadline, even if it felt like just around the corner. That still didn’t make his desire to work die down, it made it fire up even more.
