The pain… the anger… the suffering… the revenge… emotions and thoughts that crossed Lyra's mind as she was being healed by an old woman from the Silver Claw pack. When they arrived there in the morning, they were received with haste, without questions, focusing only on helping that suffering wolf. Lyra looked tense, enduring the pain of the healing, until the alpha of that pack, upon hearing of the arrival of intruders, went to see what it was about. Even being the most noble, they had to ensure that their people were not in danger. Immediately, the man recognized that girl. He had seen her with his great friend Magnus Blackwood, she was his daughter. Incredulous, he looked at her.
"Girl, but what happened to you?"
Lyra just looked at him, ashamed. Nessa, who always said what she thought, although she always kept quiet in the Eternal Thunder pack, said:
"Alpha Lucian rejected her and, not content with that, he beat her. He's a wretch."
The man's eyes widened, surprised and angry. He couldn't believe that someone could do that to a young woman, regardless of who she was. It seemed cruel to him.
"I'll take you to your father."
The man said immediately, which caught Nessa's attention.
"Just tell him that I'm coming home. That he was right."
Lyra replied in a low but firm voice. The man nodded and left to call his good friend. Nessa looked at Lyra curiously.
"I thought your parents had died or abandoned you. How did you get to the pack alone?"
Lyra looked her straight in the eye, letting out a deep sigh.
"I'll tell you a secret... My name is not Sofia. It's Lyra Blackwood, daughter of Alpha Magnus Blackwood."
Nessa's eyes widened in surprise.
"Wow! I knew that delicacy of yours, in addition to your soft hands, weren't those of an omega."
Lyra smiled with some sadness. That young woman, despite her lack of education, was someone charming.
"Well, you're not wrong about that."
Lyra said, while Nessa sighed.
"I wish the king was someone like this alpha. Lucian would surely be out of the kingdom by now."
Lyra just looked at her, almost without emotion.
"King Caelan, if he were like Alpha Kael, would be too soft."
Lyra knew what her father's friend was like. Nessa couldn't help but continue with her thoughts.
"But if the alpha king is said to be worse than Lucian, he is a ruthless wolf. The difference is that the alpha king is much more powerful than any other wolf."
Lyra tried to get out of the cot, despite the pain in her back.
"That's true. The truth is that I don't know King Caelan. He doesn't show up much in the packs."
She remembered how little her father talked about him. Nessa, unable to keep quiet about what she was thinking, continued.
"You, being the daughter of one of the most powerful alphas, why did you end up in the Eternal Thunder pack?"
Lyra raised her head firmly, her gaze hardening with each word.
"Because I was foolish and capricious. But Lucian doesn't know who he's messing with."
Nessa nodded, understanding Lyra's determination.
"Of course, your father will kill him."
Lyra shook her head, her eyes full of determination.
"No. My father will not fight my battles. I will do this myself. I will prepare myself, and when I am ready, I will go after that bastard, even if Caelan and all the packs come down on me."
The tone of her voice was cold, but there was a latent power in her words. The fire of revenge was burning inside her. She was no longer the innocent young woman she once was. Now she was a wolf with a single objective: to recover her dignity and make Lucian pay for what he had done to her.
Within a few days, Lyra had recovered. After removing all the aconite from her body, the young woman's rapid improvement surprised everyone. Kael, the alpha of the Silver Claw pack, prepared the trip for the two young women, ensuring that they would arrive safe and sound, without mishaps. He knew that they had to leave everything in order and that Lyra had scores to settle.
Shortly after the girls left, a car entered the pack's territory. Kael instantly recognized the alpha of the Eternal Thunder pack. He just rolled his eyes, detesting Lucian's arrogance. That conceited idiot seemed to be trying to provoke the good and kind alpha of the Silver Claw, although Kael, bound by the promise made to Lyra not to reveal anything, forced himself to smile and to receive with courtesy the one he considered a true scum.
Lucian got out of the car with an air of haughtiness, ostentatiously adjusting his suit, enjoying the looks that the pack's she-wolves gave him. He walked up to Kael and, with an arrogant look, said to him:
"I'm only coming because two wolves have fled from my pack after committing a serious offense. I want to know if they have passed through here or if they are hiding in this place."
Kael returned a kind smile, hiding his contempt under a mask of courtesy.
"Unfortunately, no outsiders have entered the pack these days, but if I hear of anyone in that situation, I will send for you. If you like, I invite you to have a drink."
Kael knew in advance that Lucian would reject the offer, but he invited him anyway, his voice dripping with a calm that Lucian could not stand.
"Forget it," Lucian scoffed with disdain. "I don't want to fill myself with your immense goodness that even gives me chills."
Without saying anything else, the alpha of the Eternal Thunder left, leaving Kael watching him with a mixture of anger and contempt, aware of what that man had done to Lyra and that one day he would have to answer for it.
