In the meeting room, the atmosphere was dense, charged with expectations and barely concealed tensions. The senior executives were already seated, their faces showing concentration as they awaited the signal from their leader. At the head of the table, Dimitrei Uvarov occupied his place, his presence dominating the space.
Thailor, who was also part of the meeting, had chosen a discreet seat in a corner. His preference for discretion was evident; although his role on the finance team was crucial, he preferred to stay out of the spotlight, always careful not to stand out more than necessary. The exchange with Dimitrei in the lobby still troubled him.
Dimitrei began the meeting with his characteristic precision, launching into a direct and detailed conversation about the company's situation. His voice resonated firm and clear, outlining the critical points with a coldness that only a leader of his caliber could manage. Every word that came out of his mouth was absorbed with attention by all those present; there was no room for errors or distractions.
Although Thailor was not the center of the meeting, he listened attentively, mentally taking note of every aspect of the business strategy that Dimitrei detailed. Despite his position as a discreet omega, he dreamed of leading with that same confidence and firmness one day. He knew that, although he had had setbacks in his past, he aspired to more.
As the meeting progressed, the intensity of the conversation rose. Dimitrei made crucial decisions without blinking, while the executives nodded in complete agreement. No one dared to question him. His reputation as an indomitable leader, who had saved and expanded the company countless times, was an indisputable fact in that room.
Suddenly, John, the division head, turned his head towards Thailor and indicated that his moment had arrived.
"Thailor, it's your turn," he whispered with a slight smile.
Thailor felt his heart leap, but nodded quickly.
"I'm ready," he replied in a restrained voice, as he stood up. As he did so, Dimitrei's eyes locked on him, watching him from his privileged position at the table. Dimitrei had relaxed in his chair, but his attention was not on the graphs or documents, but on Thailor himself.
Thailor took a deep breath, shaking off the nervousness. When it came to his work, his character changed completely. He went from being a reserved omega to a competent and precise professional, dominating his presentation with confidence. With his laser pointer, he began to show complex graphs and tables full of details, carefully explaining the numbers that supported the company's financial situation.
While the others in the room followed the content of the graphs, Dimitrei didn't seem as interested in the data as he was in Thailor's behavior. Although the financial report was a sensitive topic, the confidence that Dimitrei had in Thailor was noticeable in his calm gaze. There was no need to correct or question what the omega was presenting.
As he finished his presentation, Thailor felt the weight of Dimitrei's gaze still on him. With a mixture of respect and caution, he bowed slightly.
"Are you satisfied with my report, sir?" Thailor asked, his voice firm, although his interior was full of doubts. "Do you think there is anything I should correct?"
Dimitrei did not respond immediately. There was a brief silence in the room before he tilted his head slightly and spoke.
"After this, come to my office," Dimitrei said, his tone grave and authoritative. The simple instruction made Thailor's heart shrink a little, wondering if he had done something wrong.
"Yes, sir," Thailor replied, trying to control the nervousness that invaded him.
The meeting concluded shortly thereafter, and as the executives rose to leave, Dimitrei's assistant approached Thailor, indicating that he should go to the CEO's office once he had finished organizing his documents.
When Dimitrei left the room, Thailor cast a quick glance at John, seeking some sign of support, something to calm him at that moment.
John, noticing his discomfort, smiled and raised his fist in encouragement.
"Cheer up, Thailor!" he said enthusiastically. "I'm sure everything will be fine."
Other employees also joined in, giving him small verbal nudges.
"You can do it, Thailor!" said one of the nearby executives, with a reassuring smile. "Don't get nervous."
Thailor nodded, trying to calm down, although the anxiety was still present. The walk to Dimitrei's office seemed longer and longer.
"Seriously?" he muttered to himself, looking at the group. "You only encourage me but no one helps me?"
With that thought in mind, he headed towards the CEO's office, mentally preparing himself for what was to come.
