Chapter 1 - "Biography"

...2024, Summer, June, Z City...

"Whose biography should I write, family biography, or artist biography?" said a girl sitting at a chair in living room trying to type something, her name is Monica Lu

"Monica, do you want grandma to make something for lunch later?" ask Julia Chu, who is now getting old already

Monica Lu is Sarah Tang's daughter, who comes on vacation to her grandmother's house.

"What are you having trouble with, it's been several years since you visited!" ask Julia to Monica trying to help

"You should go for a walk, you rarely come here!" said Julia to Monica

"I'm just doing my summer homework, by the way grandma, is there anything interesting in the heirloom, I want to see something!" said Monica suddenly to Julia

After getting permission from Julia, Sarah finally went to the Tang family heirloom to look around.

"Interesting place!" said Monica walking inside trying to find inspiration while looking at her eyes stunned upon a picture of a young lady

She was shocked because the woman in the picture looked exactly like her.

"Who is she, why does her face look so similar to mine?" ask Monica to herself looking around

"Lauren Lu, the beautiful and intelligent socialite who died tragically!" read Monica Lu from a piece of newspaper

Curious, Monica Lu finally spent several hours there and dug up her mother's rather dark family story.

"This family is truly cursed!" said Monica standing up get a bit of document

After leaving there, she looked for information regarding Lauren Lu, but there was no information that was too specific regarding the incident.

"It seems like such information only exists in newspapers!" said Monica type her computer trying to search other keyword

After a while of giving up, she finally called her friend Elshe Wu, who was also working on her biography.

"Elshe, I think I need your help with my biography assignment!" said Monica to Elshe

"Biography, yes I finally decided to write a biography of my mother, I find her journey very inspiring!" said Elshe to Monica

"Great, I can't wait to read it!" reply Monica

"So what do you need me to help with?" ask Elshe to Monica curious

"I found a picture of someone who is very similar to me, you wouldn't expect it, I found her interesting, so I kind of wanted to write her life!" said Monica to Elshe

"But when I searched for information about her on the internet, there wasn't any, if there was, only her name was mentioned!" said Monica while trying to type another keyword

"What year do we think this picture is?" ask Elshe to Monica

"I think it was around the 1920s!" said Monica to Elshe

"It's been a long time, try sending me a photo, I'll try to see it!" said Elshe to Monica

After Monica sent the photo to Elshe, Elshe was surprised because the photo of the woman really looked like her.

"I didn't expect it, it's like you've been made up as a 1920s woman!" said Elshe with a laughter through the phone

"Don't you try to find out where this photo was taken, who knows, you might find out something about her!" said Elshe to Monica

"You're right, thank you for your help, I'll wait for your mother's biography, see you!" said Monica then hung up

After that she went back to the family's Heirloom to look for information related to the photo, but she didn't find anything.

Not giving up she finally posted it on the internet asking for people's help. And a few days passed, and she finally got some replies, and someone said they knew the style of the photo.

After getting the address, she finally went to the place where the photo was apparently taken, then when she went in she was shocked because there really were lots of pictures that looked similar to the ones in the heirloom.

"Welcome, have you made a reservation in advance?" ask a worker there

"Oh I just wanted to ask something, was it your studio that took this picture?" ask Monica show the image on her cellphone screen

"Oh yes, this photo is very precious and is one of the first photos taken by our family!" said the worker to Monica

"Does any of your family know about the woman in this picture?" ask Monica curious to the worker

"I don't know about that, but I think the person in this picture is someone important!" said the worker to Monica

"Yes she is very important, I want to write a biography about her, I have searched the internet, but there is nothing about her, I read newspaper scraps, but there is nothing covering her life!" said Monica looking at the worker

At that time, a middle-aged man happened to come in, and he said that he knew the story about the woman in the picture.

"Dad, you're home!" said the worker to the middle age man

"Do you really know, sir?" ask Monica excited a little

"Yes, sit down, I will tell you some stories that I know related to the woman in this picture!" said the middle age man

"I'll make you some tea!" said the worker walking inside

"Thank you so much, I was about to give up and write someone else, and luckily you showed up!" said Monica to the middle age man

"Let me introduce myself, I'm Austin Hu!" introduce the middle age man to her

"Monica Lu!" said Monica with a smile

"By the way, the woman in this picture is very similar to you!" said Austin to Monica

"Yes that's the reason I wanted to write about her!" reply Monica while looking around the studio
