Now that he had finally recovered, his father took him to the palace with him. The Duke mentioned that the prince had been asking about him during those days and that the best way to calm him down was to show up now that he was feeling better. Upon getting out of the carriage, the Duke walked towards the palace. Livius followed closely behind, observing in amazement the building they were in. It was enormous and elegant, undoubtedly a true palace. Upon reaching the grand hall, a small brown-haired boy with bright emerald eyes smiled upon seeing him and ran towards him, taking his hand.
"Livi...are you better? The Duke said you were sick."
"I-I'm fine."
Livius didn't quite know how to act. His mind was not that of a child, plus he didn't know how he should treat the prince, much less did he remember that he and Maximiliam were friends.
"Let's go play. Duke, can I take Livi?"
"Of course, be careful."
The young prince, Maximiliam Zahari, took Livius to another room. It was smaller and more private, but there were sofas and a coffee table, as well as various toys. It's true that the prince received a strict education, but the emperor also allowed him to be a child and have fun. Being there, Livius didn't know what to do, he just sat on the sofa observing the place and the little brown-haired boy playing.
"Livi! Come on, I can't play alone."
"I can't...my clothes will get dirty."
He didn't know what he could come up with. Livius was a very cheerful child like Maximiliam, but even though no one knew he was an adult in a child's body, he still felt ashamed at the thought of playing.
"Ehh? But your mom won't mind."
"W-we have an event to go to today."
"That's great, I'm going too. I'll tell my dad."
"No! You can't, it's family..."
"Mmm...Livi, are you really okay? The Duke said you had a fever...could it be you're still sick?"
The little brown-haired boy came closer to touch Livius's forehead, but he had a normal temperature.
"I'm fine. I don't want to play today."
"Why not? We always play together...hyaaa!!! Do you have another best friend? No, it can't be, you swore I would be your only best friend..."
The brown-haired boy was already shaking him while crying and screaming, but Livius tried to remain calm.
"I don't have another friend, I just don't want to play, you're making a fuss over nothing. You're not a baby."
"Livi, you're acting very strange. Did you lose your memory? Like in those books my sister reads."
"I haven't lost my memory, if I had, I wouldn't remember you, Your Highness."
Maximiliam laughed somewhat awkwardly at his friend's words.
"Right...then let's go outside, let's walk, Mom says it's good for your health."
Livius let out a sigh. He couldn't just leave and leave the prince alone, but going for a walk was better than trying to play. Maximiliam ran and jumped all over the garden while Livius just walked. He was frustrated, it was still strange and confusing to be in this world. All he knew was that he had to survive and for that, he needed to avoid the protagonist. Both children arrived at the Empress's garden. The woman was there drinking tea with other ladies so both bowed to greet her. Immediately the ladies began with their compliments towards Maximiliam.
"He is such a polite and adorable child."
"Your Majesty, without a doubt the little prince is identical to you."
"The young man accompanying him must be from the Stefan house."
"I heard they are good friends and that the young Duke was ill."
"Livi is better now and that's why he came to play."
"I'm glad to see you're better, young Livius."
"Thank you, Your Majesty, I appreciate your concern."
"Go with the maids to be served dessert."
"Yes, Mother. Ladies, with your permission."
Maximiliam bowed; the women were delighted with his kindness and sympathy. Livius just bowed and followed the young prince.
