Episode 6

Alberto left Carlos's room and headed towards the reception. His expression now was completely different from when he was with Carlos; he seemed imposing and intimidated anyone who looked at him. He went towards his men, giving orders:

"Stay around here," he said. He then looked at Paulo and added, "Andrey is keeping an eye on the doctor. I don't know what his reaction will be when he finds out that Carlos saved me."

In the bedroom, Carlos was still thinking about what Lucas had said and what he would respond. He didn't expect his reaction to be like that, he always imagined that if Lucas asked him to come back, he would say yes immediately without even thinking twice. At that moment, he had doubts if it would really work again between them, he thought that if the incident hadn't happened at the hospital, then Lucas probably wouldn't ask him to come back.

While he wandered in his thoughts, he didn't even realize that Nina had entered the room, he only noticed because she touched his shoulder.

Carlos watched the video, seeing the argument between Alberto and Lucas, at times he raised his lips smiling, he didn't imagine seeing Alberto like that and calling him baby so blatantly.

"So? What's the deal with 'my baby'? Have you been dating since when? And where did you find that wonderful man?"

Carlos sighed, listening to all those questions from Nina, if only she knew what happened that night, she wouldn't be so excited.

"We're not dating, Nina. We're not boyfriends and I've only known him for two days, so there's no need to make such a fuss, okay?" Carlos wanted to end that conversation right there, he didn't want to keep answering Nina's questions.

"Okay, but you can't deny that man is head over heels for you, and it's a great opportunity for you to move on and stop thinking about your idiot ex," she said.

Carlos remembered the issue with Lucas again, looked at the almost finished IV drip and decided he would leave.

"Nina, take off the IV, I want to go home. I'll talk to the director and ask for a leave of two days."

She was a little surprised by her friend, but since she had a tray with the things she used for another patient's procedure, she took it off.

"You should ask for a vacation and go on a trip with that hottie, or I don't know, meet someone different on your trip. Just get out of this hospital for a while."

Carlos wanted to reprimand Nina, but deep down, she was right, it had been a while since he took a vacation, he needed a change of scenery, he had been feeling very stressed in the past few days.

"I'll talk to the director about it. On one hand, you're right, I need to get out of here for a while."

At that moment, Carlos thought that he didn't want to give an immediate answer to Lucas. He needed to think carefully about what he was going to do and taking a leave would be a good choice. He got up and prepared to leave the room. Nina took off the bed sheets, and Carlos left.

"Why did you get up? I didn't discharge you," Lucas said with a smile on his face.

"I'm already fine, I don't need to stay in bed for the rest of the day, and please, avoid grabbing me like that in the hallways. Your boyfriend works here, and I don't want rumors spreading with my name."

Carlos turned and left, leaving Lucas there confused about what had happened with him. He quickly returned to his office after talking to the director. Carlos requested the rest of the day off and another day for leave; as for taking a vacation, he would discuss it when he returned. He started gathering his things and looked at the flowers Alberto had brought for him. He went towards the door but stopped before opening it, turned around and looked at them again. He raised the corner of his lips in a small smile and went back to get them.

Carlos passed by reception, saying goodbye to the girls and other people at the hospital. Everyone wished Carlos well, he was very beloved at the hospital. Lucas leaned against the counter as Carlos left, watching his back as he walked away. Nina was there and narrowed her eyes, observing Lucas' expression and gaze towards Carlos, and didn't waste any time.

"Dr. Carlos is so lucky, where did he find that Greek god? I want to order one too, and did you see how attentive he was with him? He brought flowers and stayed by his side until he woke up, a true prince," Nina provocatively said, and the girls smiled and sighed.

Lucas, on the other hand, rolled his eyes, grabbed some papers, and curtly told his secretary to send in the next patient. Nina analyzed Lucas' reaction and knew that he was trying something with Carlos after seeing him with someone else. As Carlos' friend, she could see what he perhaps couldn't, and she knew that Lucas would only make him suffer again. She would do whatever she could to prevent that.

In another part of the city, Andrey was shouting at some of his subordinates, frustrated with a delivery that had been seized by the police. Douglas, his security guard and right-hand man, entered with an envelope in his hand, and Andrey dismissed the other men.

"Tell me you have some good news for me, my day has been shit," Andrey said.

Douglas lowered his gaze, knowing that what he was about to say would only infuriate his boss further, and he might bear the brunt of it.

"Well, sir, the flowers you ordered have been delivered to the doctor, and here is the information about Alberto from that night. He had help from someone, but I don't think you'll like to know who helped him," Douglas handed the envelope to Andrey, took a few steps back, and continued. "They managed to obtain security footage. He got into a taxi that dropped him off in a nearby neighborhood, then he walked through a few streets until he found someone arriving home in the early hours of the morning."

Douglas stopped speaking, swallowed hard. Andrey was looking at the photos from the security cameras, and Douglas knew he was getting closer to seeing a photo of the doctor.

"He approached the person and entered their house. He must have forced them to tend to his injuries and remove the bullet," Douglas waited for Andrey to continue flipping through the photos until he stopped at one, studying it intently. "As you can see, the house Albert entered belonged to the doctor who removed his bullet. He also saved Alberto's life that day," Douglas noticed the furious look Andrey gave him. "Our men also informed us that they saw Alberto arriving at the hospital earlier today. He must have gone to talk to the doctor."

Andrey slammed his hands on the desk in front of him, looked at the photo of Carlos in front of his house again, and a sinister smile crept onto his lips.

"Well, well. So, you didn't just save my life, but also my enemy's, doctor. And it seems that you've piqued not only my interest, but that bastard's as well," he raised his gaze to Douglas and continued speaking.

"Bring him to me. I haven't decided what I want to do with him, but I won't let Alberto get his hands on him. This doctor needs to be mine."

Douglas swallowed his saliva again, knowing that his boss was infatuated with the doctor and would do anything to possess him.

"Do you intend to use him like you did with Pablo? Since Alberto seems to have shown an interest in him."

"Don't be an idiot. Didn't you hear me say that I won't let that bastard touch him? Pablo is a completely different situation. I want Carlos for myself. He should still be at the hospital. Find out when he will leave and grab him in the parking lot. If it doesn't work at the hospital, go to his house."

Andrey walked to the window, looking at the photo in his hand. He wouldn't lose to Alberto this time. Even if he had to keep Carlos captive, he would have him.
