Episode 5

Sebastian

I spent the night looking for her... I went to all the places she might go... but what I knew about Katy was limited, besides her not having many contacts or friends, as it had only been a year since she left the orphanage... I contacted the orphanage and got the contact information of all the friends who lived with her while she was growing up and had already left there like her, and nothing... I spoke with the owner of the coffee shop and all the employees, and no one saw her after she left at 8 PM... I went to hospitals and the police station... I went to the airport, bus station, and train station, and no Katerine Jordan had boarded... Dawn breaks and still no sign of her... She could be anywhere... I decide to go to Ana's house because if she went there and told Ana what she supposedly heard, Ana would take her side and might be helping her; over the phone, she can lie, but in person, it's a different story...

Ana hadn't seen her either, and she hadn't contacted her to tell her anything or ask for help; her friend became very desperate, and when I told her what supposedly happened, she was furious with me and said that even if Katy contacted her, she wouldn't tell me anything and that I deserved to suffer for what I did to her... I agree, but first I need to find her... I need to know if she's okay and where she went... I've been a wreck since yesterday, without eating or sleeping... but I don't plan on stopping until I find her...

A week passes, and no news; I haven't gone to work yet, and I don't eat or sleep... my business is on hold... but I don't plan on going back until I find her...

Now it's been a month and nothing, I've lost weight and a lot of business... One of the company partners calls my father to tell him I'm not working and we're losing money... he comes to take my place and understand what's happening to me... My father and I have always been very close, however, I don't talk about my personal life with him, but now I was forced to tell him what happened, and the disappointment in his eyes at my attitude is clear... He believes in love above all else, and even today, after 35 years of marriage, he's in love with my mother, and I know he would never treat her the way I treated Katy...

Six months pass, and I'm no longer the same man... I couldn't find her, and I need to go back to business; my father can't stay in my place any longer; he retired 5 years ago precisely because he was ill and needed to take care of his heart... I need to go back to work; my parents need me to take care of the business... Not a day goes by that I don't sleep and wake up thinking about her, about how she is, but I need to get back to my life even if the reason I live is no longer with me... My father advises me to hire a private detective so I can work, and I don't even know why I didn't think of that before... I look for the best in New York and leave everything in his hands, and I go back to business; only then can I occupy my mind and not go crazy...

The detective's name is Jhonn Smith, and I don't believe that's his real name, however, that doesn't matter; what's important is the number of cases he's already solved and missing people he's already found, as that's his specialty... I told him everything I knew about Katerine Jordan, which isn't much... Now, thinking about our relationship, I can't come to terms with how much I don't know about her... about her deceased parents, I don't know their names, I don't know what her dreams were, the places she knew or wanted to know... if I had tried to really get to know her, today I would have an idea of where she might have gone... I would have an idea of who she wanted to become, but I was very selfish, only thinking about having her and winning that damn bet... I feel like setting fire to that damn yacht, but that won't bring her back... So I resign myself to leaving everything in the detective's hands now and focus on making money so I don't go completely crazy...
