Seo-a Lee was not like the other girls in her school. While they sang and danced to K-pop songs, she mostly stayed to herself. She had a reputation for hating everyone around her. Her classmates whispered about her cold nature, but they didn't know her secret. Deep down, Seo-a had a soft spot for Jimin, a member of the world-famous K-pop group BTS. She admired his singing, his dance moves, and how he could light up any stage. However, she kept her feelings locked away, afraid of getting hurt.
One evening, the sky turned a warm orange as the sun began to set. Seo-a decided to take a walk in the nearby park. The trees swayed gently in the breeze, and she enjoyed the sounds of nature. It was her little escape from the noisy world of high school. Little did she know, that evening was about to change her life forever.
As she strolled along the path, lost in her thoughts, she suddenly heard loud shouting and footsteps behind her. Curious, Seo-a turned to see a mass of people running. They were chasing someone. She felt her heart race as she stepped to the side of the path, unsure of what to do. That’s when she saw him—a guy in a cap, running fast and looking panicked.
Before she could react, he bumped into her, and they both fell to the ground. Seo-a quickly pushed him away. “Watch where you’re going!” she shouted.
“Please, I need help!” the guy pleaded, looking desperately into her eyes. His breath was heavy, and she saw fear in his gaze.
Seo-a hesitated. She wanted to ignore him, to get up and leave. But there was something in his eyes that made her pause. “Why should I help you?” she asked, her voice laced with annoyance.
“Because they’re after me!” he exclaimed, gesturing to the crowd that was getting closer. “I promise I’ll explain everything later. Please, just help me!”
Seo-a let out a frustrated sigh. She didn’t want to get involved, but she also didn’t want to see someone hurt. “Fine! But we have to be quick!”
She reached out, grabbed his hand, and they both sprinted off the path into the thick trees that bordered the park. They ran deeper into the woods, the sounds of the crowd fading behind them. After a few moments, they stopped to catch their breath, leaning against a large tree. Seo-a felt her heart beating in her chest, both from fear and the rush of adrenaline.
“Thank you,” the guy said, pulling off his cap. The sight of his face made Seo-a's heart skip a beat. It was Jimin, her secret crush! She stood frozen, mouth open in shock. The person she had admired from afar was right in front of her, tired and sweaty but still dazzling in her eyes.
“Jimin?” she stammered, finally able to speak. “What are you doing here?”
“I was just out for a quick run to clear my mind after practice when a swarm of fans suddenly appeared. I didn't mean to disturb anyone,” he explained, running a hand through his hair. “Then I saw you, and I thought you could help.”
Seo-a shook her head, trying to gather her thoughts. “But why me? Surely there are other people you could ask!”
“You looked different,” he said, a soft smile appearing despite the situation. “Like someone who wouldn’t scream or chase after me.”
Seo-a felt her cheeks heat up at his compliment. “I guess I am a bit of an outcast,” she said softly. “But what are we going to do now?”
“For now, we hide,” Jimin suggested, looking around nervously. “Do you have a place we can go? Somewhere quieter?”
Seo-a thought for a moment. “There’s an old shed a few blocks from here. It’s not much, but we can hide there for a while,” she offered, still feeling a bit dazed by the whole situation.
“Lead the way,” he said, an encouraging smile on his face.
Holding hands, they ran through the trees until they reached the shed, hidden behind a few bushes. The old wooden structure looked like it hadn’t been used for ages. Jimin pushed the door open, and they stepped inside. It was dark and dusty, but they felt safe for the moment.
Once inside, the two sat on the ground, catching their breath. “That was close,” Seo-a said, laughing nervously.
“Thanks for saving me,” Jimin replied, looking at her with admiration. “Not many people would have stopped to help.”
Seo-a felt her heart flutter. “I didn’t think I would. I just panicked.”
“Panic is good sometimes,” he said with a wink.
For the first time in a long time, Seo-a felt a connection and warmth she had never known. They talked about music, their dreams, and what it felt like to be in the spotlight. Jimin shared funny stories about life on the road, and Seo-a found herself laughing more than she ever thought possible.
As time passed, the sounds of the crowd faded completely. Seo-a realized that this unexpected encounter had opened her heart, even just a little. Jimin had become more than just a K-pop idol in her eyes; he was a person just like her, looking for connection in an overwhelming world.
“I guess being an idol isn’t as easy as it looks,” she said.
He smiled, and in that moment, Seo-a felt a warmth inside her—a feeling she once thought she’d never experience. In the midst of uncertainty and danger, a beautiful friendship was blooming. Little did Seo-a know, this was the beginning of something extraordinary, not just with Jimin but within herself.
