Chapter 31: The New Era
The soft morning sunlight filtered through the sheer silk curtains of the master suite, casting a warm, golden glow across the king-sized bed. Manhattan was waking up fifty stories below, its distant hum a harmless rumble against the soundproofed glass.
Natalie sat up against the dark leather headboard, a cup of black coffee balanced in her hands, watching Sebastian dress.
He stood before the full-length mirror, adjusting the cuffs of a dark charcoal suit jacket. The ruthless, untouchable corporate titan the world feared was right there—yet his icy blue eyes softened the moment his gaze met hers in the glass reflection.
"The flight to Singapore is scheduled for three weeks from today," Sebastian said, turning around to face her, buttoning his jacket. "It gives us enough time to solidify the domestic board before we turn our attention to the Pacific corridor."
"Three weeks is plenty of time," Natalie replied, taking a slow sip of her coffee, her voice filled with a calm, dangerous confidence. "By the time we step off the plane in Singapore, the Asian directors will already know better than to test the waters."
Sebastian walked over to her side of the bed, leaning down to place a warm, deliberate kiss on her temple. His hand lingered on her cheek, his thumb gently brushing her cheekbone.
"They won't stand a chance," he murmured softly against her skin.
Natalie set her coffee cup on the nightstand and reached up, catching his lapels to pull him down for a proper, lingering kiss. When they finally parted, his dark eyes held hers with an intensity that promised a lifetime of shared victories.
An hour later, the double doors of the executive suite on the top floor of Vance Tower swung open.
Natalie and Sebastian walked in side-by-side. They didn't walk as executive and subordinate, nor as a titan and his trophy. They walked as absolute equals—two halves of a unified, sovereign force.
The senior vice presidents, legal heads, and board members already gathered in the grand hall immediately straightened, dropping their conversations and clearing a wide path for them. The deference in the room was palpable, absolute, and earned.
As they reached the head of the massive boardroom table—where two identical black leather chairs had been placed side-by-side at the center—Natalie looked out over the room of titans waiting for her direction.
She pulled out her chair, sitting down smoothly as Sebastian took his place right beside her.
Natalie rested her hands flat on the polished mahogany, her platinum band glittering under the recessed lighting. She looked around the table, her dark eyes flashing with sharp, lethal brilliance.
"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen," Natalie said, her voice carrying through the room with crystal clarity. "Let's begin."
