Chapter 28: Global Alignment
The glass towers of London’s financial district began to fade into a blur of distant lights as the private Gulfstream climbed effortlessly into the evening sky, charting a course back across the Atlantic. The European front was entirely secured; the London directors were now answering directly to Natalie’s office, and Julian Vance’s legacy had been permanently erased from the corporate ledger.
Inside the cabin, the atmosphere was quiet, stripped of the frantic urgency that had driven them for weeks.
Natalie sat in one of the oversized leather club chairs, a glass of white wine resting on the small mahogany side table. She was looking at the main display monitor mounted on the cabin wall, which tracked the real-time stock valuations of the Vance Group. The charts were a sea of steady, climbing green.
Sebastian walked out of the forward stateroom, having changed into a comfortable dark cashmere sweater, his sleeves pushed slightly up his forearms. He carried a single printed document in his hand. He didn't sit across from her; instead, he leaned against the edge of her console, his towering frame casting a protective shadow over her space.
"The compliance team in New York just sent the final verification," Sebastian said, his deep baritone carrying a rare, relaxed warmth. He handed her the page. "Arthur Lopez has officially signed over the remaining title deeds to the Lopez family estate. It was seized to collateralize the fraud damages from the *Vesper Holdings* liquidation."
Natalie took the paper, her eyes skimming the cold, legal signatures at the bottom. She felt a strange, profound sense of absolute finality. The very house she had been hidden away in, the family that had treated her like currency, now legally belonged to the empire she co-ruled.
"What will you do with the property?" Natalie asked, looking up into his striking blue eyes.
"Whatever you want," Sebastian murmured, his gaze tracking the calm, elegant resolve in her face. "Demolish it. Sell it to a developer. Or keep it as a reminder of the night you walked into my world and completely rewrote the rules."
Natalie let out a soft, amused laugh, setting the document down. "Let's sell it. I have no interest in keeping ghosts on our balance sheet."
"Done," Sebastian said simply. He reached down, his long fingers gently catching her chin, tilting her face up. The commanding, powerful scent of his cologne wrapped around her, instantly familiar and grounding. His thumb traced her lower lip, his icy eyes burning with a raw, intense focus. "The board in New York is preparing a formal reception for our return. They want to celebrate the Eurozone integration."
"They want to see if we've changed," Natalie corrected softly, her fingers sliding up his arm, feeling the solid, unyielding strength of his frame. "They want to know if the alliance is as lethal as the rumors say."
"Let them look," Sebastian whispered, leaning down until his breath brushed her lips. "They will find exactly what Matteo and Julian found. That we don't break."
He closed the distance between them, his lips meeting hers in a deep, lingering kiss that tasted of quiet victory and absolute possession. The cabin around them was still, the engines humming a steady cadence against the dark expanse of the Atlantic night.
They had cleared the board globally. From the high-rises of Manhattan to the docks of London, the Vance name was undisputed, anchored not by an old family charter, but by a modern, unbreakable dynasty. As Sebastian pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her waist, Natalie looked out the window at the stars flashing against the dark canopy of the sky. The game was won, the kingdom was absolute, and their true reign had only just begun.
To be continued...
