My name is Elian Sylvaris, a moon elf born beneath the ancient silver trees, where peace was our greatest treasure. I believed humans were cruel creatures, and their king was the worst of them all.
Then our kingdom fell.
I was captured and dragged before King Kael Veyrion, the man everyone feared. I expected chains, torture, and death. Instead, I found a king whose eyes lingered on me with a strange curiosity. He was ruthless to the world but unexpectedly gentle with me, and I couldn't understand why.
Before I met him, I thought the stories were exaggerated.
They weren't.
Assassins had crept into his chambers more times than anyone could count. Some hid in the shadows, some disguised themselves as servants, and others slipped poison into his food and wine. None succeeded. Every attempt ended the same way—the assassins were caught, or they died before they could touch him. It was as if death itself refused to approach the Human King.
The royal scholars often searched ancient ruins for forbidden knowledge. They would return with dust-covered books filled with forgotten languages and dark magic. The wisest men in the kingdom tried to read them, hoping to unlock their secrets. Most lost their minds before finishing a single chapter. Some laughed until they died. Others forgot their own names, while a few were consumed by the magic they sought to control.
Yet Kael Veyrion would simply take the same books into his study.
He turned each page without hesitation, reading the ancient scripts as though he had written every word himself. He understood curses no scholar dared speak aloud, mastered spells that should have driven any man insane, and closed the books with nothing more than a quiet sigh.
And I believe the king was hiding something from the world. And I will uncovered whatever he is hiding.
