Rain fell without mercy.
The city lights blurred into streaks of gold beneath the storm.
Aria stood alone, clutching the blue diary against her chest as though it were the only thing keeping her together.
Its pages fluttered wildly in the wind.
Footsteps echoed behind her.
"You finally found me."
She didn't turn around.
"I've been looking everywhere," Ethan said, his voice hoarse from desperation.
"Then you should've stopped."
"I can't."
Silence.
The rain filled the space between them.
Ethan stepped closer.
"Come home with me."
Aria smiled faintly.
"I don't have a home anymore."
"You have me."
Her fingers tightened around the diary.
"If you stay with me..."
"...everything you've built will disappear."
"I don't care."
"If you choose me..."
"...someone you love will die."
"I don't care."
"If you rewrite this page..."
"...the future will never forgive us."
Ethan took another step until only a breath separated them.
"Then let fate hate me."
He gently cupped her rain-soaked face.
"I'd rather lose tomorrow..."
"...than lose you today."
A tear slipped down Aria's cheek.
She whispered,
"You always choose me..."
"...even when you know it'll destroy you."
He smiled.
"I've been choosing you..."
"...since before we ever met."
The diary trembled.
Its final page slowly turned on its own.
Fresh ink appeared.
