Chapter 22: The Master Blueprint
A month had passed since the final fall of Matteo Vance and the quiet liquidation of the remaining Lopez assets. The predatory headlines that once dominated the financial tabloids had moved on to newer targets, leaving the city’s economic landscape stabilized under the absolute, undisputed monopoly of the Vance Group.
Inside the master suite of the Vance estate, the relentless rain had finally stopped, replaced by a cool, crisp evening air that blew gently through the open glass doors of the private terrace.
Natalie stood at the marble console table, carefully placing her mother’s small, framed photograph into a sleek leather travel case. Beside it sat a thin, encrypted tablet displaying a complex series of global expansion charts—the next phase of the Vance Group’s operations.
"The flight is cleared for midnight," Sebastian’s deep baritone cut through the quiet. He walked into the room from the private study, buttoning a sleek navy trench coat over his tailored suit. His striking blue eyes locked onto her with that familiar, intense focus. "The London executive board expects us at nine AM local time."
Natalie zipped the leather case closed and turned to face him, a calm, elegant smile playing on her lips. "Are they prepared for the fact that I will be the one signing off on the Eurozone restructuring?"
"They’re terrified," Sebastian murmured, a dark, genuinely amused smile pulling at the corners of his lips. He walked over to her, his towering frame cutting off the light from the hearth as he stepped into her space. The crisp, commanding scent of his cologne enveloped her instantly. "Which means they will be perfectly compliant. They watched what you did to your family and Matteo from across the Atlantic. They know exactly who is stepping off that plane."
Natalie reached up, her fingers sliding over the expensive wool of his lapels, smoothing the collar of his coat. "Good. Fear is a decent placeholder until they learn to respect the new hierarchy."
"They will learn quickly," Sebastian said, his voice dropping into a low, fiercely possessive register. He reached out, his long fingers gently catching her left hand, lifting it so the light from the terrace caught the brilliant sparkle of her platinum wedding band. He leaned down, his breath brushing against her lips. "You’ve turned my pristine, cold house into a fortress, Natalie. And you've turned a clinical corporate contract into the only thing in my life that I will never allow anyone to touch."
Natalie leaned into his touch, her eyes flashing with the brilliant, dangerous charm that had dismantled an entire empire from the inside out. She was no longer the sacrificial pawn hidden away in the shadows of the Lopez family. She was the sovereign architect of a new dynasty.
"We have a long flight ahead of us, Mr. Vance," she whispered against his lips, her hand tightening around his wrist.
"Then let's not keep the world waiting, Mrs. Vance," Sebastian replied, his grip tightening protectively around her waist as he pulled her flush against his chest, sealing their unbroken partnership with a deep, lingering kiss before they stepped out into the night together.
The golden cage was entirely empty, and the true reign had begun.
To be continued...
