## Chapter 21: The Final Piece
The evening sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in deep hues of violet and gold. Inside the master suite of the Vance estate, the quiet was absolute, broken only by the crackle of a fresh fire in the hearth.
Natalie stood by the marble vanity, looking at her reflection. The woman staring back was a stark contrast to the anxious girl who had stepped out of the black luxury car days ago in the pouring rain. Her posture was commanding, her eyes carrying the sharp brilliance of someone who had navigated a minefield and claimed the territory as her own.
The heavy double doors of the suite clicked open, and Sebastian walked in. He had shed his suit jacket and tie, the top buttons of his crisp white shirt undone. He looked exhausted from the day's corporate warfare, yet his presence remained completely undeniable.
"The federal prosecutors just called," Sebastian said, his deep baritone cutting through the quiet as he walked over to the wet bar to pour a neat glass of scotch. "Matteo was picked up at a private airfield outside the city limits. He was trying to board a non-scheduled flight to South America."
Natalie turned around, leaning against the vanity. "Without his capital, he couldn't buy his way out this time."
"No," Sebastian murmured, taking a slow sip of the amber liquid. He walked over to her, his icy blue eyes fixed on her face. "He’s being held without bail. His political connections evaporated the moment the fraud data went public. He is entirely neutralized."
"And the remaining Lopez assets?"
"Fully integrated into the Vance Group portfolio as of four o'clock," Sebastian replied, stopping just inches away from her. The familiar, commanding scent of his cologne washed over her, sending a subtle thrill through her veins. "Your adoptive father and Victoria are currently being questioned by the SEC. Melanie has already fled the state to avoid the press."
Natalie let out a long, slow breath. The legacy of the family that had discarded her, hidden her away, and tried to use her as a sacrificial lamb was completely dismantled. She felt no malice, no lingering anger—only a profound, absolute sense of closure.
"They thought they were giving you a helpless replacement," Natalie whispered, a sharp, elegant smile touching her lips as she looked up into his striking eyes.
"They made a fatal miscalculation," Sebastian said, his voice dropping into a low, fiercely intimate register. He set his glass down on the vanity behind her, his long fingers reaching out to gently cup her jawline. His touch was warm and entirely unyielding against her skin. "They thought they were giving me a pawn to control. They didn't realize they were delivering the only woman capable of matching me step for step."
He leaned down, his face dropping inches from hers, his breath brushing against her lips. The robotic, clinical CEO who ruled the financial district was gone, replaced entirely by the man who adored the fire inside her.
"The board meeting today proved it," Sebastian murmured, his thumb lightly tracing the line of her lower lip. "You didn't just survive this house, Natalie. You conquered it."
"We conquered it," she corrected softly, reaching up to wrap her hands around his wrists, her platinum marriage band catching the amber glow of the fireplace.
Sebastian’s gaze darkened with a raw, intense emotion. Without another word, he closed the distance between them, his lips meeting hers in a deep, possessive kiss that sealed their alliance far more permanently than any signature on a marriage license. It was a kiss born of shared victories, dangerous secrets, and an unbroken partnership.
When he finally pulled back, his hands moved to her waist, drawing her flush against his chest. They stood together in the quiet luxury of their fortress, looking out the massive glass doors at the glittering lights of the city below.
The game was over. The board had been cleared, the enemies defeated, and the foundations of their world secured. They had turned a corporate trap into a sovereign kingdom, and as they stood side by side in the dark, they knew that nothing in this city could ever tear them apart.
