The God I once believed in is already gone. I am no longer God's favored child. Yet when I see him standing before God, hands folded in prayer, something inside me aches. It fills me with a sense of misfortune, as though I have been left behind. I resent his faith—the way he looks at God with such devotion. I resent it more than I can admit.
And because of that, a distance grows between us. It leaves me alone, as if I am walking an endless road with no one beside me. Though I have family, friends, and a lover, I still feel like a solitary soul in this vast world. No matter how much love surrounds me, the emptiness remains, and nothing ever seems enough.
