Chapter 1: First Bell
Yuna sat by the window, her pen softly tapping against her notebook. Lost in thought, the sunlight caught strands of her hair.
Hana nudged her gently.
"Yuna… listening to the teacher, or are you daydreaming again?"
Yuna smiled faintly, looking back at her best friend.
"Nothing… just daydreaming, I guess."
All eyes darted to the door as Minjun walked in—late, as usual. Nothing ever seemed to change.
“Oooh, it’s Minjun! Always late,” Hana whispered, eyes sparkling with amusement.
“I guess he is,” Yuna replied quietly, keeping her gaze forward.
“I wonder what he’s thinking now, getting scolded by the teacher,” Hana added with a grin.
Minjun strode to his seat directly behind Yuna, his calm presence somehow making the sunlight in the room feel warmer. Yuna felt a flutter in her chest, pretending to focus on her notebook.
The class quieted down, and Yuna slipped back into her daydream, her heart beating steadily.
Then—a tap on her shoulder. She jolted out of her daze.
“Sorry for startling you, Yuna. But… can you lend me your pencil?” Minjun asked, smiling gently.
Yuna’s eyes widened, and for a moment, there was a slight twinkle—a spark of warmth and excitement, like her chest had just skipped a beat. She felt a flutter she couldn’t quite explain.
“Hello, Minjun,” Hana chimed in, waving cheerfully.
Yuna dug through her purse for her pencil, her fingers trembling slightly.
“Hello, Hana,” Minjun replied with a small smile.
Finally finding it, Yuna held out the pencil. “Here… you can have it.”
Minjun took it, their fingers brushing for just a moment. Yuna’s heart fluttered, a soft warmth spreading in her chest.
“Thank you, Yuna,” Minjun said softly.
Yuna turned back to face the front, her cheeks warm and heart still fluttering from the brief touch. She kept her eyes on the teacher, but her mind… was somewhere else entirely.
“Why does he make my heart feel like this?”
