☕ Coffee Shop ☕
Taehyung got out of the campus, exhausted and in desperate need of only one thing -Coffee. The weather was cloudy, as if the sky was soon going to cry while the earthy smell of rain filled Taehyung's nostrils. The young man loved it. It was spooky yet bright, everything that inspired the boy. He pulled his hoodie cap onto his head before crossing the road to his usual relaxing spot the coffee shop he had been coming to since he got enrolled at Seoul's university. He pulled open the door, just when rain started falling. He was greeted by a smiling middle aged lady behind the counter - Juna -with whom he undeniably had developed a form of friendship. -
"I knew it was soon going to rain." Juna pointed out.
Taehyung giggled and acknowledged her statement.
"I love it, the rain... Though I have no umbrella right now..." He added.
The coffee shop was utterly empty, with only Taehyung and the shop owner as living organisms, that of course without counting the plants and the insects that may have been present. The lad walked closer to the woman after having wiped his feet on the carpet.
"The usual?" She asked, to which the young boy nodded.
He always took an Americano with extra sugar, it was his guilty pleasure after a harsh day.
As Taehyung removed his wallet from his pocket, someone entered the coffee shop, drenched to the core. It was a young man, looking more or less the same age as Taehyung.
He had dark brown hair which were soaking wet and sticking to his forehead all due to the heavy rain. When Taehyung's eyes met the new customer's ones, he instantly smiled and the other returned the gesture. The drenched boy seemed to have blushed upon seeing Taehyung but it was too faint to be noticeable.
"The rain sure did hit you hard sir." The lady pointed out.
"I definitely won't need a bath tonight, I already took one right now." The lad Joked: causing the other two individuals in the shop to giggle endearingly.
Taehyung removed his credit card and handed it to the woman as she enquired about her new customer's order.
"An Americano, if possible with extra sugar." The brunette responded, catching the other boy's attention.
"That's exactly what I ordered!" The aforementioned fellow pointed out.
Both lads seemed fully entertained by the simple yet ridiculously funny similarity of their respective orders. Jungkook immediately noticed the other boy's warm and unique smile. Taehyung's boxy smile never failed to catch people's attention. It was his signature touch.
"Here Tae." The shop owner called out, handing Taehyung his order.
He grabbed the warm cup before making his way to a table for two near the large window frame that gave incredible view onto the outside world and the rain that hit the tar, threatening to break It open. He sipped his drink, allowing the warmth of it to diffuse through his whole body. He took out his phone and scrolled through his social media when an imposing figure stood in front of him. It was the soaked guy, his own drink tightly gripped between his sleek fingers.
Water was dripping from the guy's hair and Taehyung secretly thought it looked hot. Hell, who was he fooling? He found the boy completely dazzling.
"May I sit here?" The drenched lad asked.
"Oh yes sure." The older of them replied as he watched the other boy occupy the seat in front of him. Taehyung usually liked to be alone but there was something about the new customer that seemed to intrigue him.
"I love the rain..." The brunette said before sipping his drink. Taehyung was amazed by the similarities the two of them seemed to share.
"Me too..." The elder whispered, so inaudibly that It was Impossible for the other guy to hear.
"I'm Jungkook by the way." The ravenette introduced, stretching his hand forward to allow the other to grab it.
"Kim Taehyung" Taehyung responded, shaking Jungkook's hand.
The previously mentioned guy's hands were warm, despite the fact that the rain hadn't been kind to him while Taehyung's were freezing.
"Oh man, you're freezing! Here, take a hot pack."
Jungkook said, handing to Taehyung a cute little hot pack he removed from his pocket.
"Thanks..." The elder replied, blushing slightly when his fingers caressed Jungkook's hand while he reached for the warm object. Both lads sipped their Americano, looking out until a weird silence established itself.
Jungkook cleared his throat, causing Taehyung to promptly look at him.
"You're from around?"
"I moved here 3 years ago. I study at Seoul's university. I'm graduating soon." Taehyung Informed his new acquaintance.
The brunette eyed the other guy: a pinch of admiration in his stare.
"I just got admitted at Seoul's university," the younger started, "I was just looking around to see if I could find a job and then... Rain caught me by surprise and here I am."
Taehyung giggled and drove his cup forward.
"Cheers to that then!" He exclaimed. Jungkook returned the movement and they cheered in a Joyful atmosphere. The rain outside wouldn't stop and neither of them had umbrellas.
The now almost dry fellow caught himself starring intensely at Taehyung as he brought his lips to the edge of the cup, slightly pouted and sucked in the hot caffeinated drink. The latter saw the other watching him, causing a red colour to creep on his cheeks.
"What?" He asked, catching Jungkook right in action. The younger got all flustered: looking out at the raging storm ravaging the surroundings. He brought his drink to his lips before realising that he had emptied all its component.
"Ah shit..." He cursed, shaking the now empty cup.
Taehyung: having noticed clearly, raised his hand, catching the attention of his friend at the counter.
"Another one." He said.
Jungkook looked at his new friend, perplexed.
"It's on me." Taehyung added.
There was a form of chemistry that had blossomed between the two guys, a form of tension they both relished. The other was like dangerous territory they wanted to explore. Neither could deny, they mutually and clearly found each other attractive.
After a while of rain starring and timid conversation, Juna approached their table with Jungkook's drink and informed them that it was free.
"You've had a rough day sir... That's the least I can do," the woman told Jungkook, "in addition, It is the first time ever I am seeing Taehyung offering a drink to someone..." She added before walking away.
"Oh really?" Jungkook asked, a smile plastered on his face as if feeling proud of himself.
"I usually come here by myself." Taehyung replied.
"So no girlfriend?" The young male asked further.
"Hum... Well... I've had girlfriends but... I feel more attracted to guys..." Taehyung confessed. He couldn't believe he had just blurted out his sexual orientation to a perfect stranger.
"Ohhhh... I'm... I could be referred to as being.... Curious. I am open to any gender I guess." The younger said, making Taehyung feel more uninhibited about having exposed himself so easily.
Taehyung brought his cup forward again.
"Cheers to that then." He playfully said as they both cheered again, laughing.
"You're crazy dude..." Jungkook joked.
"Is that a compliment?"
"I guess it is yes..."
Both guys were laughing, enjoying each other's company more than they should. Jungkook didn't know anybody here in Seoul and he was glad to have met Taehyung.
And they talked... Talked and talked... From basic stuffs to their biggest insecurities. They both felt so comfortable in company of the other. So engrossed in multiple coffees and interesting talks, none of them noticed that the rain had ceased. Jungkook was the first to point it out.
"Oh shit, look Taehyung! It's not raining anymore."
"Indeed." The older replied, taking a peak outside.
"I...I gotta go... I've got a job to find..." Jungkook stuttered, not wanting to leave at all. Taehyung felt his heart shatter a tiny bit.
"Yeah... Sure..." The older replied, unhesitatingly looking out. He didn't know how to react at all... How to ask the young one to stay or even ask him for his number... One thing he was sure of, he wanted to meet Jungkook again.
Frustration coated Jungkook's expression when he realised Taehyung was letting him go like that.
"Goodbye Kim Taehyung..." He mumbled.
"Goodbye..."
As Taehyung looked back, Jungkook had already disappeared.
Juna: who had caught a glimpse of the scene from afar, couldn't help but spit out a mocking laugh.
"Taehyung, are you seriously not going to run after him and ask for his number?" She asked. She knew Taehyung for a while now, both of them having built a bond without even realizing it: both knowing the other more than they expected to.
Taehyung became all flustered as realisation seemed to hit him.
"I-I s-should?" He gulped. The glance his friend gave him was enough to make him uplift himself and run outside in search of Jungkook. He started panicking, not seeing the mentioned boy anywhere close. He couldn't help but wonder whether Jungkook had already left. Upon envisaging the previous statement, sadness suddenly hit him until he saw them, those brown hair from across the road.
"JUNGKOOK!!!!" He yelled, making almost everybody in the proximity, including Jungkook, turn to him.
"Y'all named Jungkook?" He asked sarcastically, making some scoff and others minding their own business again. Jungkook seemed to have turned all shy seeing his new acquaintance call for him in such a way.
"Yeah?" He yelped back.
Taehyung looked around, people were still watching him but at this point, he couldn't care less.
"Can I get your number?" He shouted.
A giggle escaped Jungkook's mouth.
"I can't yell my number publicly like that Taehyung. You mind crossing the road?" The younger asked.
Taehyung laughed at himself and promptly crossed the road to reach Jungkook on the other side.
