Whilst investigating the death of a local doctor, a generous scout called Una Blackman uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, peculiar teapot circulating throughout New York. As soon as anyone uses the teapot, he or she has exactly 33 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look skeletal. A marked person feels like a grubby fox to touch.
Una gets hold of the teapot, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flashed into her mind: a rural badger balancing on a pretty doctor, an old newspaper headline about a catapulting accident, a hooded rabbit ranting about fingers and a drinking well located in a magical place.
When Una notices her eyebrows have fox-like properties, she realizes that the curse of the peculiar teapot is true and calls in her brother, a private detective called Chris Ferguson, to help.
Chris examines the teapot and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the rural badger balancing on a pretty doctor particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death.
Una and Chris pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded rabbit. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
