🖤 In the Dark, He Waited 🖤
A dark romantic short story ft. Y/N x Lucien Vale
---
1. The Alley
The first time you saw him, it was raining.
Not the romantic kind of rain. The violent kind. Sheets of cold water slapping your skin as thunder growled above the city. You were late, tired, and barely holding your umbrella when you passed the alley near 4th.
And then you froze.
A man stood there—tall, sharp in every line of his silhouette, a blade glinting near his feet. Blood. Not dripping. Drained.
But he wasn’t panicking.
He was calm.
Too calm.
And then he looked at you.
Those eyes.
Ice blue. Empty like winter. And yet… curious.
You couldn’t move.
He stepped closer, slow and deliberate. Like a shadow crawling into the light.
> “You shouldn’t have seen that, darling.”
His voice was dark silk—smooth, deep, terrifying.
You blinked. “I-I didn’t mean to. I didn’t see anything, I swear—”
He tilted his head. “But you did. And now I’m curious.”

2. The Deal
You thought that would be the end.
But he followed you.
Not physically—at first. You started getting texts from unknown numbers. Roses left outside your door. A black car parked outside your apartment every night.
Until one day, you found him in your kitchen.
Casual.
Leaning against your counter.
> “Relax, sweetheart,” he said, holding your favorite mug like he lived here. “I just wanted coffee.”
You tried to scream.
He didn’t stop you.
He just smiled.
> “You’re brave,” he said. “But I’m not here to hurt you. Unless you make me.”
You swallowed. “Then what do you want?”
He stepped closer.
> “I want you. Your silence. Your eyes. Your fear. And maybe… your loyalty.”
> “In return?” you whispered.
> “In return, I won’t let the world hurt you.”
And God help you—you nodded.

3. The Obsession
Lucien Vale wasn’t a man.
He was a storm.
Unstoppable. Merciless. Cold-blooded. But with you, he was different.
He touched your wrist like it was glass.
Looked at your scars like they were art.
> “You wear your pain too loud,” he once said, brushing his fingers against your shoulder. “Let me make it quiet.”
You didn’t know what you were to him.
A game?
A pet?
A possession?
But when a man grabbed you on the street, Lucien was there in seconds.
He didn’t shout.
He just snapped the man’s wrist, dragged him into the dark, and came back with blood on his sleeves.
He didn’t apologize.
> “He touched what’s mine.”
Your breath hitched. “I’m not yours.”
His eyes flickered.
> “You will be.”
---
4. The Scar Under His Collar
He never told you his past.
But one night, after whiskey and rain, he let his shirt slide open.
A scar. Jagged. Deep. Just over his heart.
> “Someone tried to kill me,” he murmured. “Once. They failed.”
> “Why?” you asked softly.
He smiled—but it didn’t reach his eyes.
> “Because I loved something.”
You touched the scar.
He didn’t flinch.
> “Will you ever love again?”
Lucien looked at you. Really looked.
> “I already do. That’s why I’m dangerous.”
---
5. The Red Room
One night, you followed him.
Down a corridor. Past locked doors. Into a room bathed in red.
Chains on the wall. Knives on velvet.
You turned to run.
He caught your wrist.
> “This,” he whispered, “is who I am. You still want to stay?”
Your throat tightened. “Are you going to hurt me?”
Lucien’s expression softened—for once.
> “Never. But I’ll ruin you in other ways.”
He pressed his forehead against yours.
> “Say the word, and I’ll burn the world to keep you safe.”
---
6. The First Kiss
It didn’t happen the way you expected.
No candles.
No music.
Just silence.
You were crying. Broken. Shaking from a nightmare.
Lucien pulled you close. Said nothing.
And kissed you like he was trying to breathe through you.
Desperate. Possessive. Starved.
> “I shouldn’t,” he whispered. “But I don’t care anymore.”
You didn’t stop him.
You kissed him back until your lungs forgot to work.
---
7. The Madness
He loved you in silence.
In blood.
In chaos.
But not everyone approved.
You got threats. Letters. A warning: “Leave him or die.”
You showed him.
He smiled like the devil had finally been challenged.
That night, four people went missing.
He didn’t confirm it.
But he came home with red on his collar and peace in his eyes.
> “No one threatens what’s mine.”
---
8. The Choice
One night, you found a note on your pillow.
> “Leave now. You’ll be safe. I’ll let you go. I promise.”
You stared at it for hours.
You packed a bag.
Opened the door.
Paused.
And turned back.
Because you realized something terrifying:
You didn’t want a safe life anymore.
You wanted him.
His scars. His demons. His darkness.
You wanted all of it.
You walked back to his room.
He was standing there. Eyes red-rimmed. Silent.
> “I would’ve let you go,” he whispered.
> “I know.”
> “But you came back.”
You nodded. “I love you, Lucien.”
He sank to his knees.
> “Then I’ll never let you go again.”
