°•◇•° Taehyung & Jungkook – a quiet night, a heart laid bare.
The city buzzed quietly outside, like a lullaby that forgot the words.
They sat on the rooftop of their dorm, legs dangling over the edge, silence between them not awkward, but heavy—like the air before rain. Taehyung hadn’t asked anything. He just... waited. Like he always did. Patient, soft-eyed, watching Jungkook with a gaze that said:
“I’m here. Speak when you’re ready.”
And tonight—he was.
Jungkook exhaled, shoulders slouched, hands clasped like he was holding something fragile inside his chest.
> “You ever feel like... you gave too much of yourself to someone who never even looked properly at what you were offering?”
Taehyung didn’t speak. Just looked over. Eyes full of warmth, never rushing him.
> “I used to wait for him. In parking lots. At places we promised to meet. I used to check my phone like it was a lifeline—waiting for a message that never came. Sometimes, he’d act like nothing happened. Like the silence wasn’t screaming in my head.”
His voice cracked. Not loud. Just a small splinter in the dark.
> “I told him everything, Tae. About my past, my fears, how I struggle letting people in. I even said... all he had to do was meet me halfway. One step. That’s it. I’d handle the rest.”
>" Just a step and I would take the rest and he need not to worry about it, a small effort what was I asked"
He looked down, the city lights blurring in his eyes.
> “But he didn’t take it. He didn’t even try. And somehow, I ended up feeling like I was asking for too much.”
Taehyung shifted, gently nudging Jungkook’s knee with his.
> “You weren’t,” he said softly. “You were just asking the wrong person.”
Jungkook smiled—barely. A tired smile. The kind people wear when they’ve learned not to expect anything anymore.
> “I kept showing up, Tae. Over and over again. I stayed even when he made me feel like a stranger. And when I finally gave up, he didn’t ask me to stay. He just let me walk away.”
>" It was as if, he really took my words of taking steps, Taetae. He took it, he drew a line as I asked him, and the rest, I did as I told him... He drew a line and I made a bridge out of it!"
There was a pause.
> “And now… I just don’t know how to let anyone else in. What if I open up again, and it’s just more silence? More waiting? What if I’m just someone people walk away from once I show them who I really am?”
Taehyung didn’t answer right away. He turned to look Jungkook in the eyes—really look. Like he was seeing every version of him at once: the boy who waited, the boy who hoped, the boy who still loved too hard.
Then he said, slowly, carefully:
> “You’re not someone people walk away from. You’re someone people regret losing—long after they realize what they let go of.”
Jungkook blinked. Tears clung to the edges of his lashes but didn’t fall.
Taehyung leaned his head gently against Jungkook’s shoulder.
> “You don’t have to rush into trusting again. Not with me. Not with anyone. But when you’re ready, just know—there are people who will never call your emotions dramatic. Who will never let you wait alone. Who will show up.”
Jungkook whispered, barely audible:
> “You think I’ll find that one day?”
Taehyung gave a small smile.
> “No. I think one day, someone will find you. And they’ll thank every star in the sky that you’re still capable of love after everything.”
The city stayed alive around them. But for a moment, it went quiet.
And on that rooftop, under a tired moon and a sky that had seen too many tears, Jungkook was finally heard.
