"𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒌,
𝑶𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒊𝒕."
"No...n.no.. please...don't.. don't"
The words barely slipped past his lips, in broken whispers yet heavy with dread. His eyelids were clenched shut, his face tense with fear rooted deep within. His slender body trembled beneath the thin blanket, and the faint glisten of tears can be seen at the corner of his tightly shut eyes.
"No.. please..noo.." a sharp gasp broke the silence.
"Ha.. ha..." he woke startled. Gasping for breath chest rising and falling in uneven waves. cold sweat clung to his pale skin, soaking the collar of his white shirt. His hands clutches the quilt so tightly that his knuckles were turning white.Breathing heavily and clenching the quilt with such force like its the only thing telling the dream and reality apart.
The fear still wrapped around him like a second skin. Slowly his eyes fluttered open. The room was dark, swallowing everything in darkness only the soft spill of moonlight filtering in through the window.and just enough to see the boy beneath the blanket his pale face and his hazel-green eyes open wide and glassy filed with some unexplainable fear.
He stared into the darkness not expecting to see anyone but still searching. Half expecting half hoping maybe hoping for someone to step out of the shadows, hold him in their arms, and whisper, "it's alright. You are safe now.you are not alone. I'm here."
But no one came. No voice, no warmth. Just the silence.
It was always like this.
The house was so quiet and the only sound he can hear was his own heartbeat that sounded too loud. His breath was uneven, shake. The fear hadn't gone- it never did.
It was 2:30 in the morning. The world outside was silent and sleeping.
But he was not.
He brought his knees to his chest, curling into himself, the quilt still clenched in his fists. His body shook uncontrollably as he stared into the darkness, afraid to close his eyes. There was no comfort in the dark, only the familiar echo of a nightmare that never quit let go.
It was going to be another long sleepless night.
