Chapter 2: Between Sleep and Silence
I swim closer, reaching for her hand.
I wonder… is she really my mom?
Tears overflow, unstoppable.
I can’t hold them back anymore.
She pulls me gently out of the water.
We smile at each other — but say nothing.
No words.
Just silence.
Standing by her side, I avoid looking at her directly.
Instead, I look around — at the ground, at the trees — afraid to speak.
Finally, I whisper:
“Mom… I missed you so badly…”
I look up — but she’s gone.
No one is there.
Only the cold moonlight, the shining stars, and the freezing wind.
The world is silent.
My heart hurts so much.
I think:
“Why didn’t you stay with me?”
I see only one road, rocky and surrounded by big trees and thick plants.
Exhausted, I find a large tree and sit down beneath it, crying silently again.
