He flung his sword through the air, it’s blade glinting in the sunlight.
He felt an intense rush of pride, even as he could feel his body burning from the exertion it took to keep up with him and the demon on his tail.
His chest was rising and falling heavily.
Mukai Katsuro was a Swordsman and had to protect someone dearest to him.
Even if that person was someone whom he could not help but love, he still would fight at all costs.
The demon was getting closer, so fast, so close, he thought they might reach their destination any second now, when suddenly the ground beneath them began to shake and they fell backwards.
His body bleeding profusely and limbs heavy, Mukai looked around for his enemy.
There were only two of them remaining now, one who looked just like him, but unlike him, his eyes burned brightly with power, his hair floated around his shoulders in the wind and his lips curled into a wicked smile.
The other one, the one that reminded him most of himself, though his eyes weren't as bright or fierce. It was empty, devoid of everything except for the cold emptiness.
Both were looking directly towards Mukai. Their eyes pierced him with such intensity, he didn’t dare look away, but somehow, he managed to do it anyways.
The ground shook again and he could hear the sound of the demon’s laughter behind them. It’s breath tickled his ear, causing a chill to run down his spine.
He had never been afraid before, yet standing here now
Mukai saw his love Ogawa Masako standing before him.
Ogawa ran towards Mukai and entered his body.
She entered his body and now their souls became one.
The next thing he knew, he stood alone with a demon staring at him and the rest of the world had disappeared.
A sudden pain in his chest made him double over in agony, his knees giving out. Blood dripped down from between his hands, staining his robes. He couldn’t breathe anymore, his lungs wouldn’t take it.
The demon approached and slowly bent down before him.
Mukai tried to raise his swords, but found he no longer had the strength, his arms refused to cooperate.
Ogawa took over Mukai's body, she can't lose her lover, and she took the fallen Katana in hand.
In a matter of seconds, Ogawa sliced open the demons stomach, killing it instantly.
Her blue eyes widened and tears flowed freely as she collapsed in front of her beloved. She clutched onto the dead demon tightly and screamed in agony as she ripped her heart out. The wound closed quickly but she kept screaming.
"I may have died but I will neve let you lose", Ogawa said to Mukai.
Her ghostly face smiled at the fallen Mukai, his beautiful blue eyes staring back at her.
Ogawa leaned in closer and pressed her forehead against hers and spoke the words Mukai had waited ten thousand years to hear.
"You are my soulmate and I will fight for you always."
