Who Made me a Princess AU⭐
I died.
But I didn't know for how long after, I opened my eyes, only to find myself surrounded by a crowd of aliens (or so I think). They said,
"Welcome back! How is your trip to earth?"
It didn't sound excited.
"What...?", with a look of disbelief I said.
I knew, I died.
So there's no way they're human beings.
But still.
HOW IS YOUR TRIP TO EARTH? WELCOME BACK?
Is this a joke?
That's what I thought to myself.
There's a long silence in the place, as if those beings are expecting me to answer. I moved my hands and got to touch a soft cushion below, it is like a huge mound of cotton. I guess, I was lying there. Right then, I noticed my hands (?) it glowed. That's why out of curiosity my eyes darted to those beings.
I couldn't see their faces, but I can make up the color of their hairs and the length. Just like any other human, but their faces couldn't be seen because of a whitish glow. Their bodies also glowed but it didn't hurt the eyes, through their clothes just like how my hands were.
As I was observing the place, I heard another voice.
"That's right, one thing has been forgotten."
"Incorporating the primary data to Entity no.004"
Data...?
Out of a sudden, a surge of memory (data) entered my field of mind. It rendered me unable to move.
I remember now.
I am not a human but a Sentient Entity. Reason of existence is unknown, just like all the other entities here.
We set out on an expedition to gather data all around this vast space called Universe, that's why we are here right now. Many light years away from the place where we came to be.
It's not only me but there's a few other entities that entered the earth before me.
None of them came back.
Reason being is that their existence has disintegrated into what we call, "Dust". Through what humans call, "Death".
It is not an uncommon occurrence on us Sentient Entities. An entity would never know when will they turn to dust, an entity would never even care if the one they are with as they move will suddenly disappear.
The Identification Number that is used to call us are reused a thousand times.
The original entity, and the next, and the next. All of them are forgotten. As if they didn't exist. What mattered is who the current sentient is.
After the current entity disintegrates, the number will be used again on the new entity.
There is no attachment.
That's what we are.
"004, have you gathered any useful data?", asked a long blue haired sentient.
"..."
"004?"
"I am uncertain", I answered.
"We took a long amount of time in this place but there seems to be no data of significance, prepare to move out to the next destination", the entity beckoned.
We are quick to decide.
There's something.
There's something we do not have.
Something...!
I lifted myself up from the cushion I was sitting on.
"I am going back to earth."
"The reason? 004?"
──────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹──────
"It's called Lippe Tea."
"Look here, your majesty", the woman said as she lifted up her teacup and drank.
"It's like flowers are blooming on my mouth!"
𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘵.
"Now what do you think your majesty?"
The golden haired man frowned at the teacup on the table. He soon lifted it up and let the aroma enter his nostrils, slowly and silently.
Without a word, the teacup touched his lips and he gulped the beverage.
𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯.
His eyes widened for a short while as the teacup left his lip.
Holding the teacup he responded, "It's not bad."
"Then, do you think you will drink it again? That you'll look for the taste again?", she asked with beaming eyes seemingly satisfied with the answer.
He was silent, as he put the teacup down. It was empty.
'Wow he drank it all!', she thought.
He stared at the cup for a while and then fixed his gaze on the woman.
"I don't mind."
"You don't mind...?", she asked as she tilted her head. "That's a strange way to answer the question your majesty."
His lips curved a bit as his chin rested on his palm.
"I don't mind drinking the same thing over and over again."
"Haaa! Then that means you like it!", she exclaimed as she stood up in reflex and smacked the table.
At that time, his face made an expression of astonishment.
"I'm so glad!"
...𝘎𝘭𝘢𝘥.
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘥....?
"Then, Sir Robane would you like to try it as well?", she turned her head to a red haired man.
He looked surprised and glanced sideways at both the woman and his superior. The golden haired man nodded.
"T, then... If you don't mind-"
"Alright!"
She got herself another cup and poured tea on it.
──────⊹⊱✫⊰⊹──────
It's a memory.
Something has changed.
"I am going back... Because..."
But I couldn't explain it one bit.
"Are you going back because of the human beings you have interacted with?", asked the same entity.
"...Yes", I think that's how it is, I responded in affirmation.
"The time is not reversible, you won't be the same being."
My chest felt like it's tightening when I heard those words.
"The only way to come back to earth was through the same method you have gone through, just like any other humans. From a child to an adult."
"Then can I come as another being?"
"Whatever do you mean?"
"There's a being that humans called 'Souls', would that work? Could it be done?"
I don't know what it is, but something within me is pushing me to do this. I know the me before I entered the earth wouldn't.
"Processing the following information, data will be passed on to the head processor."
"Understood."
There's something in this conversation that doesn't look right.
After a short while, I got the results.
"From the head processor : the immaterial essence, animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life embodied in human beings, all rational and spiritual beings, or the universe", the entity recited.
"It's a being that's untouchable and mostly could not be seen by most people", I said recalling the data I have of the earth. "Could it be done?"
"It is complex but it is believed to be doable according to the data the head has been passing."
"I am going back to earth, do it."
"The request is accepted, 004 the Sentient Entity expedition is moving away from the earth. It wouldn't go back, even if it will. Then that will take a billion years. The risk of your disintegration is in no one's hands, take a note of it."
That's it, I'm starting to understand....
Everything, it's at the tip of the tongue. I think it was a data that would help the entity.
Something the entity do not have...
It's something that's not programmed nor integrated into the core of the entity.
I remember it now.
"The humans... The humans are really different beings."
"How different?", the entity asked readily gathering data.
"The humans would look back on the past, sometimes it would hinder them. But the humans will readily move forward once they can. Meanwhile, the entities just moves forward without care. Even if one entity they have been with for a long time would disappear it wouldn't even matter. But to humans it's of big significance."
"If one dies, they would cry, they would grieve. They would regret. They do not call themselves with numbers, they carefully thinks of what they would give to their offspring."
"Why?", the entity asked.
"That's what makes each human being unique."
"It is something unexplainable by words. It's something that needs to be experienced."
The entity fell silent attentively listening. I did my best to explain it so that the entity would understand.
"It's what they call 'emotions', 006", I continued.
"You knew my number."
"Yes, we've been together for a long time. I must call you a friend."
I went on with a few more things that I could remember. Until, they sent me off back to earth.
"The information you've given would be studied further, a good work 004."
And with that, the place I came from and I has cut off contact.
This is what I chose, because being an entity is like being a hollow shell devoid of emotion.
As if falling to a deep slumber. Everything disappeared as well as my memories of the entities.
"Entity 004's number will no longer be reused."
"006?"
"004 said that as long as memories are present, a person does not die."
◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤
"Huh? Your Majesty...? This place is?"
"...you...?!", he shook his head violently left and right.
Even I couldn't believe what is happening right now.
Didn't I die?
The man I thought I'd never see again is right in front of me, it's too unbelievable. His name...
"Claude."
My mouth parted and let out his name. The name of the man I love. I felt something warm gushing out of my eyes to my cheeks. Everything looked blurry on my vision.
It's tears.
He looked helpless and confused, not knowing what to do about the situation.
"....is it really you?", his shaky voice entered my ears.
"Or is this just a dream? What if I try to get close to you and you disappear once again?!"
It's him for sure. It's his voice, full of sorrow and agitation.
I couldn't stop crying, I'm also scared that he might disappear once I try to touch him. I'm also scared that this might be an illusion. But I'm afraid that this might be a chance, and that it might slip away if I don't grab hold of it.
That's why I walked towards him even if my body was feeling weak, it could collapse. I didn't stop and instead wiped my overflowing tears away.
At last, I stood in front of him. He is the same person as he used to before, the same distinguishing blue gem eyes and he still has his golden hair. As if he never aged, he looked so distraught.
The man I left.
I am so scared, that this person who's standing in front of me might not be him but an illusion yet I reached out.
If this is a chance then I won't let it go.
"...Dian-"
Our lips touched. At that time we both knew.
That the other was real and not an illusion, the tears I struggled to hold back in flowed endlessly.
When our lips parted I looked at him, holding his cheeks with both of my hands. Even if my vision is blurred I can see how surprised he is.
"I'm sorry."
At those words, the crystal like tears flowed down slowly and baptised his pale cheeks.
He didn't say a word and he aggressively held me in his arms. Not willing to let go, we stayed like that for a long time.
***
"I wonder for how long did we not see each other?", I asked as I walk with him.
The place we are in looks like a garden, there are greeneries everywhere. Everything looked peaceful. It's a very nice feeling.
"...I don't know", it is a very low whisper.
I laughed softly at his answer.
He never changed at all.
Or did he?
I jokingly asked, "You must've found a woman much better than me."
"Even if there is such a woman I have no need for her."
I blinked.
"You have no need for her? Why?"
"No matter how good a woman can be she will only end up as a substitute."
"...? But isn't that the point?", I asked with curiosity.
"A substitute will never be as good as the real thing."
Hearing that made me feel treasured. Feeling embarrassed I looked away.
"...And a person can't be replaced, once they disappear they will never exist again. No matter how hard one tries to imitate a person they will never become that person."
He must've noticed that I have been looking away because he went and walked up to the side I was looking on. I was startled when he leaned before my face.
He stared at me for a while and added, "And I'm not looking for a nuisance."
I stopped walking.
"Well that's a bit-"
He raised an eyebrow at me.
"Other women are like bugs to me."
"But you're an exception."
Flustered, I looked away once again.
What is he saying with such a serious face?!
"Why do you keep avoiding me?", he said turning his face whenever I look away.
My face feels like it's burning hot.
I am really glad to be able to spend time with him once again.
Until it came to the point where...
"W, what?"
"Huh??"
"Y, you're my mom right?"
A young woman stood before me, if Claude was born a girl I believe he would look exactly like her.
How adorable.
I hugged her.
"Please understand. You're just so lovely... And I've never been able to hold you in my arms until now..."
I feel so happy. My heart would burst.
"Is it really you...Mom?", she asked me with tears in her eyes.
"That's right, my child."
"M....mom..."
"Oh dear, don't cry. It must've been hard to bear everything on your own, hum? How scary it must've been"
My brave child.
"I...I... I missed y-"
"I've always been watching over you", I said as I caressed her soft cheeks.
"I'm proud of you sweetie. You've grown up to be an admirable person."
I told her. Both me and his majesty has been watching over her in that space. She has been fighting everything on her own.
She continued to cry and I patted her.
"There, there. We finally meet and all you're going to do is cry?", I said softly.
"You've always been with me? Even though nobody can see you...", she said as she rubbed her teary eyes.
"It's alright, time flies for us souls."
"But they say you're reborn after you die. Then does that mean you'll never be able to be reborn...?"
"What you see in front of you is just a part of my soul... I've probably already been reborn somewhere on this continent, but incompletely."
"A part of your soul....?"
Actually, I'm not sure. But that's what I've been told when I was young.
"I think a part of me remained here because I was so worried about you and the emperor. You could say it's reluctance...", I continued.
"Mom... I'm sorry. Even though we've just met.... And I'd love to talk more with you...I think I have to go."
"Dad is very sick."
"I have to go and cure him...."
That's how it was. I knew we were given a limited time to be together.
Reassuring her I spoke, "It's alright, the emperor is well."
"What?"
"He's been with me the whole time, ever since he lost consciousness. He is aware of everything that's been going on outside. As well as the situation you're in."
My daughter.
"I'm here by myself because I wanted to talk with you alone."
"Is... Is dad alright? Will he make a full recovery?", she asked.
"Of course, isn't that the reason you're here?"
"The emperor was very touched at the fact that... You came all the way here to save him. Although he was also a little angry."
"I couldn't bring myself to leave because I was so worried... But now that I know my daughter is so brave and reliable, I think I'll be able to leave and be at peace."
I smiled. Even in such a short time, I feel blessed to be able to meet and talk the family I've left.
I pointed, "Take what you've brought... And go over there..."
"What I've brought...?", she asked and looked at her hand and the world tree branch glowed.
"When you return please tell Lilian and Sir Robane thank you from me, for taking care of you since you were little...", I hugged her tight.
"Though I couldn't raise and hold you in my arms, never once have I not loved you, since the moment I felt your existence."
"I love you, my daughter, Athanasia."
With that, I think I've told her almost everything I wanted to tell her.
May you have a bright future ahead of you, my courageous daughter.
***
"I guess this is the end, your majesty", I said as I returned to his side with a smile.
"Our daughter has come to bail you out."
He stared at me not saying a word.
".... Do you resent me?", I asked, "For leaving you behind?"
He looked down and opened his mouth, "I did."
"I'm sorry."
I heard a sigh, "You're really something...... Else."
"You entered my life and left just like that. You're cruel, you even left me with no room to complain", his forehead wrinkled.
I didn't say one word and listened to him.
"You're unreasonable, annoying..."
He went on and complained like a child.
"I apologize but I'm glad you're being honest", I smiled at him as I stretched my hand out.
"It's time."
Before our very own eyes, we saw the world we have been in collapse and saw each other start to fade.
With a bitter smile, he looked and ran towards me seizing the last few seconds we have. We embraced each other tightly.
"Please take care of our daughter and be honest with her."
"I will", he readily said.
"I love you."
"... seriously, you're... I love you too", he responded seemingly caught off guard.
I giggled. It sounded so sweet to my ears.
I don't know what will happen to me after this, but there's still a life waiting for him outside.
And I want him to live it out, for himself and move forward.
I'm glad we got a closure.
Even if there's no next life for me or even if there is.
My name is Diana.... Diana de alger Obelia.
That won't ever change.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
Note : The AU is set where Athanasia met Diana as she's about to get rid of his dad's curse. This AU is made in Diana's POV to show what happened while Claude is asleep, everything is made up by imagination.
