"The world is a beautiful yet cruel place. It is not surprising to see many suicidal cases of the youth....... it is the same with mine. Goodbye." And with that I threw myself into the river.
Who would have known that I would be saved by the patrol team.
When I woke in the hospital, it was strange enough for me to know I was alive. I refused to see anyone's face, neither the kind hospital staff nor the policemen. Until.........
I saw a kid outside the window. She had a number above her head‽ I was so confused and curious, I stormed out of the room; the people stared at me and when I looked at them
I could see a number over everyone's head!
The nurse came up to me asking what was the problem.
"You.......have a number above your head!" and I started to have anxiety attack seeing the people with numbers overhead getting closer to me
"Miss, Please calm down."
And I fell unconscious.
It has been a week since I started seeing the numbers and I just accepted it as that. It was so weird that the numbers differed. And it changed at every moment.
What did it mean?
Their deposit? The lies they had told? The days they left? Or...
The number of times they almost died. But the thing that bothered me the most was...... I could not see the number above my head.
After I was discharged, I went back to the same river where I jumped to take my life away. I was just staring deep into the river.
"Why are you here again?"
I look behind and see an old man walking towards me.
"I was......saved here once."
"Got saved while trying to die, eh. I've seen many give their life away."
I look down at the ground.
"Have no one else left?"
"........Yes."
"I'm old and my children left me. Now I have to live alone and it's boring. But I'm happy."
And he smiled at me.
"Why?" I asked.
"My wife loves me and I love her."
And I look at him; he kept on smiling to me.
"Someone loves you. Isn't that the reason why there's '1' above your head like mine."
I was shocked and asked how he knew I could see numbers overhead. Moreover how did he see the number above my head.
"The world is a beautiful yet cruel place.
However, it is also a mysterious place."
I looked back into the river; then to the old man but there was no one. I looked down and saw daffodils growing amidst the grass.
