"When it rains, look for rainbows. When it's dark, look for stars"
-Unknown
Today, was one of those gloomy day. The ones were nothing special seemed to be going on, it was basically neutral. It just another day, one that will soon pass as the sun takes it's leave being replaced by the dark sky, and the shimmering stars.
This is how Gabe described these days, because that's exactly how it felt like, but at the same time that's how all his days felt like. That was until Elizabeth came by, he gave him hope it's like he replaced his rainy cloud with an everlasting sun. A sun that never seems to die out. A sun that follows you everywhere, above you providing you it's warmth.
Gabe took a look at his windows which showed a perfect view of the city. It showed the many tall buildings that were also companies, some as tall as skyscrapers. But his stood slightly above them all. He took it all in, after years of hard work and dedication he was able to make it here. After many trials and error, he was now able to say that he owns all of this. This was all his.
"Mr.lee" John called gaining Gabe's attention, "That recent deal we made the s&s company has been approved. But there are some contracts the are needed to be signed by you" John informed. Gabe nodded his head, and he made his way out of the office with John.
"Okay the only things left is to wash the oil that drenched their wings, then we come move on to the rest." Lucy, another worker in the vet clinic that works with Elizabeth informed. "Alright i will get to it then" Elizabeth stated, she made her way into one of the clinic rooms that held the birds that she would be attending to. She entered the room and walked towards the bed, it held 4 birds. They were drenched in oil, and one of the birds wings had plastic bag wrapped around it wings making it hard for the bird to fly. Elizabeth had been told that the birds were found near the ocean which was completely filled with all sorts of thrash that filled the shore and many was found in the ocean itself.
The sight of the birds definitely horrified Elizabeth, although she was a vet and she would have to deal with many situations like these, and possibly even worst it still made Elizabeth scared. Knowing that the poor conditions these birds were in was the direct result of human behavior, made her feel even more guilty. Elizabeth had always been an advocate for bettering the way humans handle plastics and other things that causes pollution. But after seeing these poor animals, she came to the conclusion that humanity still had a very long way to go.
...
Gabe entered his home, but to his disappointment wasn't greeted with Elizabeth's voice. He could only guess that she was working late today. Sighing, he made his way upstairs, changing into black sweat pants, as well as a black shirt. A sound caught Gabe's attention, looking at the direction of his window at the sound of water hitting the glass.
It was raining.
He made his way downstairs going through the living room, and making his way to the balcony. He slide the door open and made his way in. Gabe looked at the sky, that was now more grayer than before.
It was on a rainy day that it had happened. The day that began it all, it took place on a rainy day. Although it had happened on a rainy day, Gabe had always found the rain somewhat calming. After that day it's as if Gabe had lost what humans know as emotions. Unable to cry, to grief, to feel something that he so silently yearned for: happiness. All these seemed to have been stripped from him on that day. Gabe had lived by this motto when it comes to rainy days.
If he couldn't cry the world would simply cry for him through rain.
Every droplet held a story, one that was filled with a memory wether sad, happy, or painful, it held it all.
"Gabe?" that sweet angelic voice that Gabe recognized, the one that belonged to his sun Elizabeth. Gabe kept his eyes at the sky. Elizabeth moved forward now getting a little worried. "Gabe, are you alright?" she questioned as she worriedly looked at Gabe who kept his gaze at the sky. Elizabeth also looked at the sky, hoping that maybe that would give her some explanation. Gabe opened his mouth and he only replied "Rain."
