Jerry and I went out for dinner tonight to some place fancy. Jerry is my boyfriend and it's been a couple of months since we started going out. I met him at the bar and we immediately seemed to be hitting it off together.
"Mexican grill for me and Hawaiian salad for the lady." Jerry told the waiter. He knew what I liked. He passed a smile at me and I smiled back at him too.
He was a very nice man, he knew all my likes and dislikes. He knew how to make me happy, make me laugh. He knew when I felt what. A girl like me would be really lucky to have a boy like him.
So then, what's the problem, right?
Well, the problem is... things aren't working anymore. I, don't feel what I used to feel for him anymore. I don't know what is off but tonight, after dinner I'd have to end things with him. Peacefully. I don't want to break his heart but I can't be so much cruel to not end things and keep living an unhappy life with him. This is for the best.
The dinner was over and now we were both driving back home. I was restless and this restlessness was making to fidget with my fingers and look out of the window.
"The dinner was pretty good, wasn't it?" He asked.
"Mhm." I replied, still staring out of the window.
"The music? Did you like the music?" He asked again.
"Mhm." I replied still.
My heart had this unsettling feelings going on about the break up I had to do with him right now.
He took a deep breath and suddenly pulled the car to the side of the road. "Is everything okay, Venessa?" He asked.
"I- uhh... I have to say something to you." I started. I didn't know how it would go but here goes, "From a couple of days that we have been going out, I have had this feelings that things aren't going great between the two of us."
I looked up at his face and the heartbroken expression he gave me was making it even more harder.
"Things, aren't working out between us lately. I am starting to loose my feelings for you. I am sorry but I don't love you anymore."
I bit my lower lip silently when I was finished and a deep silence followed. A lone tear rolled down his cheek and he opened the dashboard of his car handling me a note.
Before I could open the note and read it, an other car out of nowhere lost it's control and banged straight into ours, crushing right at the driver's seat.
Days later, I woke up in the hospital. My left hand plastered and some minor injuries on the other parts of my body. I asked about Jerry and they told me he died on spot the night of the accident.
I took a loud gasp as my world came crushing before me.
Jerry's dead?
I couldn't believe it at all.
The day I was getting discharged, the hospital gave me all my belongings. My coat and my purse. I wore my coat and my hand slid into it's pocket, finding the note that Jerry had given me the night, right after we broke up and right before the accident.
fuck
I immediately folded the note open and read the lines on it. It said:
"WITHOUT YOUR LOVE, I'D DIE".
