"Mom, can I go visit Jisu?"
"No. You're staying home today," she replied firmly while washing the dishes in the kitchen.
"But I haven't seen her for too long!" I tried using the renowned puppy eyes, hoping it'll work on this cold-hearted woman.
"You were in their place last night, remember?"
Damn it! I could have sworn I covered a mannequin in my bedroom and turned all the gaming stuffs on to make it seem like I didn't run off.
"Oh, yeah..." I turned my gaze elsewhere, guiltily.
"You know mom, I was just...trying to give you and your boyfriend some privacy," I turned my gaze back at her, this time, it's glinting with mischief.
As I thought, he really was here yesterday. Look at her blushing and all, must have been a fun night for them, eh?
Soon, a man in his neat suit-and-tie came to give the woman a back hug and a good morning kiss.
"What's going on here?" The man turned to me as if he's giving a warning not to mess with his wife.
"Dad, I asked mom if I could go to Jisu's place."
"No! To do what? Meet up with your boyfriend again?" It was as firm of a rejection as mom's.
"Not really. But maybe mom w—"
"Honey, let our baby girl go now. She's already seventeen and it's just her friend. I'll give a call to Jisu's parents later."
Heh. You see, I have a really loving mother whose default answer is always 'no' but when blackmailed, she'll go climbing even the highest mountain just to give me what I want.
"Dad, you must be really tired after working overnight with Meriam?" I gave a smile, knowing he'll get what I mean.
The man seemed really pissed but he sighed it out before giving me permission ever so nicely. "Get out, you pest!"
"Thanks mom, thanks dad!" I kissed them both on their cheeks before hopping out of the door in excitement.
I didn't pay attention to their faces that's cursing me to just die already and never return.
Such loving parents, haha.
Unfortunately for them though, I have seven lives.
"HEY!"
I was brought back to the current situation by the loud voice of this man who pulled me away from the road.
"T-thank you," I said, still frozen from the shock after a huge truck came passing by in front of my very eyes.
Damn, I'm just a few steps away from getting killed. None of my seven lives could've escaped that.
"Try to be careful next time." The man gradually let go of his strong hold on my shoulders.
"I-i will." I tried to compose myself as I turn around to see my saviour's face.
"Oh, hey hot stuff!"
"Pardon?"
Crap, I unknowingly voiced out my thoughts. So awkward!!! "Oh, nothing ho-hot here! Isn't it? By the way what's your name?" I tried shifting the awkwardness with a little casual conversation.
"Luka."
"Thanks Luka for saving me. I'm Ive, by the way."
Wait a moment...
"Hey, do I know you or something?" I asked him. "Because you seem really familiar."
It was just a gut feeling but I think I've seen him somewhere before.
"Do you remember now?"
"What do you mean?"
"I've been waiting for you. Despite having long-term memory loss, I can still remember you clearly."
I have no clue what he's talking about. Is he one of those people I stole some food from when I was little? Oh no, I better run then!
"Oh well, gotta go. My mom's gravely ill in the hospital and I have to look after her."
My phone rang just on time and it was Jisu calling. I gratefully answered the call. "Oh hey, mom! Yeah, I'm on the way. I've bought your medicines."
I waved goodbye to Luka and started crossing the road that nearly became my gravestone. I can't properly hear Jisu's reply but I could imagine just how confused she was when I called her 'mom'.
Jisu is my sworn sister. My parents would always compare me to her, emphasising how smart and hardworking she is and I would proudly agree with them. She definitely is contrary to me, the top student in class. I'm very proud of me for having such a bestfriend.
Before I know it, I'm already in front of Jisu's room, just about to open the door, when she suddenly appeared behind me.
"Hey, what 'medicine' what 'mom'?" She looked straight into my eyes, waiting for an explanation.
"Look, i'll explain it later. For now, let's get to it," I said seriously and she nodded.
We banged the door open and jumped straight to the fluffy Pikachu bin bag. It was large enough for the two of us to lie down and play with our gadgets.
We tend to spend our time together like this, reading manga and chatting with each other in mangatoon.
MT CHAT
Jisu: Heya~
Me: Heya sista~ hru
Jisu: I'm good wbu
Me: Meh~
Someone suddenly entered the room.
"Hey, Sunflower!" Jisu greeted the person who just came, though her eyes were still glued on her iPad. "This is Ive, my self-proclaimed sister."
"Hello Ive! How are you?"
"Still pretty, how about you?"
"Beautiful, thanks!"
I dropped my device and slowly turned my head to her. "Sister?!"
"Hm?"
The moment I saw her, I knew right away we have the same blood flowing in our veins. I mean look at her beauty, if she didn't get it from me, where else?!
"Where have you been?!" I asked as I approach her. "When I was thrown out of the helicopter to the trashcan, where were you?"
"Wait, oh...Sister! My long lost sister!!!" She finally remembered then her expression became apologetic. "I'm sorry you got thrown to the trashcan, that must have been horribly stinky."
"It was! I had to blackmail my adoptive parents to take care of me, you know that?!" I felt bitter remembering that stinky night.
When I was only three, my parents saw me pretending to be a samurai, violently slashing the plants with the knife I stole from the kitchen. My dress was filled with sticky red liquid that the plants spat out.
My parents panicked at the sight of me walking towards them. I don't know why but I was suddenly brought in a helicopter then thrown away.
"I'm really sorry! I didn't know. I wish I could've stopped them but I couldn't find my way back home after following the map you've given me which brought me to an unknown village."
"Oh, haha. It's okay. Let bygones be bygones." I feel shameless saying this when I'm the one who fooled her into loosing her way home.
But who could've known that the scribble I gave her will actually bring her somewhere.
Unlike me, Sunflower is everyone's favourite so I'm always jealous of her. Siblings rivalry is very common but I definitely did not purposely plan to send her to some random village.
"Do you know where our parents now?"
"No. I'm still searching for them."
"Well, if you find them, kindly remind them of me. Tell them how they've misunderstood the situation back then and that I'm willing to forgive them." I smiled at her with tears stuck in my eyelids.
TV: "A wealthy businessman was sentenced to long imprisonment with his wife for providing arms to the Klar terrorists. All their assets has been confiscated a—"
Jisu clicked the 'turn off' button of the remote. "Sorry, I forgot that I scheduled the TV to turn on about this time."
"That must be them!" Sunflower suggested.
"You know what? Just don't mention to them that I'm still alive."
Yeah, I don't have a biological parents. I was just a normal person who fell from the sky straight into the trashcan. Nothing more, nothing less.
"Impossible. Those couple were old enough to become your grandparents," said Jisu.
I sighed in relief, knowing that there's not a chance they're my parents.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to know where my parents are but depending on the circumstances, I can be related to them or not.
So the search for my parents still continues...
(Sorry, I'm just way too bored.😂)
