I finally opened my eyes. They felt very heavy, as if I had just awoken from a long, deep sleep. I sat up and scanned the place - then looked at myself. I looked like a normal teenage girl, but my memory was gone. The bed in which I was lying, was bulky and rusty. The whole room was lined with shelves containing dust and cobweb-covered antiques.
Extremely confused, I got up from the bed and went to a nearby shelf, looking for something useful. The only thing I found was a diary…...well, it was a journal. The journal's cover was made of pure gold, shiny enough to become a lamp. There were daily entries of a man named Jonathan Lewis in it. One of the pages contained alphabets which made no sense. It said something like this-
ZNV ZSD UGF LBFJBBK DNED FJQM….
I set out to figure out what it meant. After a few minutes, I became exhausted; the only thing I could really figure out was that it was a secret message. Then suddenly I heard a muted noise, which grew louder. FOOTSTEPS! The door opened vigorously and a tall man appeared wearing a mask, making it hard to see his face, not that I wanted to. He looked at me.
"Ironic, another prey to find the meaning of the codes." He laughed. It didn't make any sense to me, but sure enough, the man and his voice frightened me.
I plucked some courage and asked,"Who are you?"
"First tell me, what the meaning of the code is."
"Code?", I asked, puzzled.
He pointed at the journal and said, "Don't play silly with me," and left. I didn't even get to respond. Frantically, I started to look through the pages for clues. After searching for an hour, I found a distinctly highlighted information that said that the man hated shiny stuff. But there was no shiny stuff in the room, not even a flash of sunlight.
It abruptly dawned on me right there - the journal's cover was golden!
At once, the door slammed open again and the man entered.
I didn't hesitate and immediately showed him the cover. As soon as I did, the room began to glow brightly and there was a loud scream. The light was so strong, I had to shut my eyes. The next time I opened my eyes, there were ashes on the floor. The ashes read something like 'alphabets' . The journal was lying on the floor, opened on the page with the alphabets. Somehow the alphabets made sense to me this time. I focused and found the solution. To decrypt the code, I just had to shift one letter one space forward and the next letter one space backward in the alphabet. And finally I read the message aloud.
YOU ARE THE MAGICAL CODE GIRL…..
Immediately, I started to remember about myself. My name is Anna. And then, everything blacked out...
