Ugh... I woke up coughing and spitting a mouthful of sand. I was feeling thirsty but to my utter dismay I had nothing but water for as was as I could see and couldn't drink any of it all thanks to its salinity.
Chief!
Is that you?
I heard a lady almost screaming just behind me followed by some curious footsteps attracted to an insignificant commotion. I turned around with whatever strength I had and witnessed a few gasps and some pitiful gazes. I could see few lovely ladies all with a same faces, as if they were clones. They all had confused, shocked and disappointed expression because they just took me for someone else for a moment.
'Wa... water'
I asked them for some water and after they exchanged a few glances they brought me some pink nectar as they nodded at me with a kind smile. I had asked for water not for some weird sake but at this point anything was fine as long as it could satisfy my thirst.
It was really an exceptional moment of my life as with just a few sip of that heavenly nectar, all my bruises were gone and my body was overflowing with energy. I felt rejuvenated. Now that I was not feeling thirsty at all, my stomach made a wierd gurgling noise. Which was embarrassing for me but sure made those wonderful ladies giggle. They showed me the way to a campfire. I helped myself with few carrots as sweet and juicy as watermellon. Ofcourse it may be an exaggeration but I had already lost my count for the days I starved.
I looked around the area for a while, it was a lovely sight to behold, a beach in front and hut in the centre. A broken structure which looked like some small castle surrounded by rocks. Few other buildings that I couldn't get anything about them but one thing for sure. Everything was automated like some high-tech town. Just that it wasn't in a condition to be called that as it had just a small cannon as its only defence. I talked to one of the ladies which was then I got to know that she was one of the villager. It was all thanks to those villagers that I could understand what was going around me.
She told me that the villagers here never age and that their chief had gone out on a voyage hundreds of years from now and never returned. It was me, the first outsider with no ill intent that they met. Just because they don't have a chief, they sit idle the whole day consuming elixir and dozing off anywhere they want. All they do in a whole day is to go to some bush or a stone or a tree and clap a few times and pray for their chief to return. Without anyone to guide or protect them, they have become a common target for goblins and other villages. Who just let treat them as some kind of life stock.
I decided to help them out for as long as I was staying under their kindness. I am a man with dignity and can't be a freeloader you see?
I asked if I could be of some help to them but they denied instead told me to use anything available here as my wish, as everything collected by then soon be looted by invaders anyways. It was sad to look at their state but not being able to do anything for them.
One day when I was roaming in the village I saw a box stuck in bush, when I cleared the way and opened it, I found it filled with green shiny rocks which after my crash course I knew was the rarest mineral to come by around here and were called as 'gems'.
It took me by surprise as I stared at that box. As I already said, this is the rarest gem that you can get here so it was obvious that I was surprised when I found it just lying here. There were 25 gems in it as I counted. The villagers, yeah those ladies. They told me that what I had is a gem box and they magically appear with some intervals. They may appear anywhere randomly in whole village but always have the same count of gems. No one knows how and why they appear but it seems to be the case with all villages.
The villagers had already thought of something else. They handed me all the gems they had collected this far and asked me to use as I wish. I didn't understand what their problem was. Some stranger gets washed ashore your village and you hand him everything you have. Anyways, I decided to help them instead with these gems. I spent some of the gems to hire 2 builders as it was the most economical way to spend them. The only way you can hire a builder was with these gems. Now that I hired these builders I asked them to build some more gold mines and elixir collected and also a storage for them. Elixir was the same pink sake like thing that I drank when I first opened my eyes in this village.
After we talked a bit, I decided to walk around the edge of the village. It was the place which always amused me. The reason was that the edge of the village was surrounded by a translucent bubble like structure. Which (as I was told) was a barrier or shield as they preferred to call it. This thin translucent bubble seemed silky to touch but was impenetrable to anyone else if they don't belong to village but not this time it seemed. As soon as the gold storage was built and the builder reported me. The bubble dissolved in thin air with a popping sound and I saw two goblins rushing inside the village.
'GOLD!!! GOBLIN...GOLD...LOVES'
'GOLD...STEAL...GOBLINS'
'VILLAGE...SMALL'
'VILLAGE...WEAK'
'GIVE...GOBLIN...GOLD'
'WHAHAHAHA'
Just with the site of thise two goblins the villagers rushed inside the yellow hut and builders rushed inside their personal huts. It was confusing and frustrating looking at the goblins as they stole the hard earned gold of the villagers. But...(there is always a but) something magical happened just then. When I decided to rush towards the cannon and try my luck with it. The cannon started moving AUTOMAGICALLY and targeted those goblin. Then it even started firing at them.
'BOOM'
And a goblin died, with another boom the second goblin died too. Just after their death the barrier or shied which had disappeared, came back as it never had gone in the first place. Outside the barrier, I saw another green figure looking at me. It smirked and looked hungrily at the gold storage.
'CHEAH HEH HEH HEH HEH'
'WE ARE GOBLINS AND WE LOVE GOLD'
'SOONER OR LATER YOU HUMANS WILL HAVE TO SURRENDER ALL GOLD TO US GOBLINS'
'ENJOY THE ELIXIR FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN...HUMANS'
This Goblin almost looked the same as the ones who attacked but had a red TEEKA on his forehead and a wooden staff in his hand. Uh, and somehow it seemed that he got his hands on a dictionary beside gold from somewhere.
The Goblin went away after he was done threatening us. Villagers came out of the hut after the Goblin was no longer to be seen. The pretty ladies from the village told me that he was the 'GOBLIN KING' and told me the cannon only works if the village has recognized someone as its chief. It so happened that the village chose me to be its chief. The villagers asked me to give the village my name and I went for 'ASTERIOS'. They urged me to improve the 'TOWN HALL'. The same yellow building which looked like a hut to me. Now that I was appointed as a chief, it was no longer a hut but the main base for me as I developed this village. I did as they asked me to do. The day end in a very peculiar yet adventurous way.
This is a unique story about how the weakest village became one to be most feared of.
And as all the story starts, I prefer start this one in the same way.
