Kellian Heart was Hated since the day she was born. Her mother, Kaila thought of her as a disgusting monster and an absolute disgrace. The only people who ever cared about her since her birth were her Father, Kian Heart and her best friend, Ein.
She was a beautiful little girl of light brown skin tone. She had shoulder-length blue hair at the time and stunning silver eyes. The only issue is that she looked and smelled like a human.
While everyone else found this strange. Her father didn't care and her friend was too young to know why everyone hated her.
When Kellian was five years old her father started training her on how to fight and protect herself. She was surprisingly good at fighting but her heart was too kind and she avoided hurting others as much as possible.
Ein would always spar with her but lost every time. When she let him win he would yell at her to fight him properly. They would sometimes play games with Mr. Heart too. Kaila was always jealous of the attention, her husband gave the two children and harboured hate in her heart.
A year later. Ein was now seven and Kellian was six.
Ein's parents were waiting for Kellian to start school to send Ein so the friends could stay together but after realizing Kaila was never sending Kellian to school they made Ein start school. Because of this Kellian saw him less but they still remained best friends.
Kellian spent more time with her father since she had no one else when Ein was gone. The father and daughter pair was practically inseparable and Kaila grew jealous and hateful.
One day her father brought her out into the woods to teach her how to hunt. He showed how he hunted in both his human and wolf forms. They had fun and the young Kellian loved seeing her father as a wolf. To please his daughter he remained in wolf form while walking her home. Suddenly, there was a rustle in the bushes.
Kian was on high alert and when an Antelope came charging at his daughter he killed it without a second thought. Holding the carcass in his mouth he looked at his daughter and realized she was frozen in fear. Before he could even turn his head to see what she was so scared of...
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
The sounds of guns went off. Around twenty silver bullets had entered his body. He fell to the ground.
Using the last of his energy he transformed into his human form and stared at his daughter with his unique pink eyes and said\, "I l-love you... *cough* Please stay... s-strong f- *cough cough* f-for me... and y-your *cough* mother. We will *cough cough* a-always be with y-you—"
Kellian broke into tears and started shaking his lifeless body.
"Daddy!! Daddy! *sob* Please stop joking around! *sob* Get up!!! *sniff* G-get up..." She sobbed uncontrollably finally accepting the truth\, her father was gone forever.
"Hey. Don't worry little girl. The monster is dead now. We shot it with silver bullets. There's no way it's alive!! The blood loss and poison from the silver are more than enough to kill it." A man tried to comfort the scared six-year-old girl walking closer to her gun in hand.
"Now come with me I'll bring you somewhere safe." He had a crooked smile whilst grabbing her hand. His grip was also too strong for someone trying to help someone.
She tried to struggle but his grip was too strong. He started to drag her. Scared and terrified her first instinct was to bite the man. He let go and yelled in pain. As soon as he did she ran. She used techniques she learnt from her father and got home safely without being followed.
Tears still in her eyes she immediately ran in search of Kaila.
"Ew! Get your hands off me!!" Kaila kicked the crying six-year-old girl.
"Where the hell is your father?"
"I- H-h-he's—" Kellian struggled to get the words out.
"Spit it out, stupid child!!!" Kaila hit the child over the head as hard as she could.
"He's dead!" Kellian shouted and burst into tears once again both from the pain of losing her father and getting hit.
"He's what?" Kaila dropped to her knees.
"No... It can't be... My husband... We didn't even have any real children together..." She suddenly stopped morning and looked at Kellian crying in front of her.
"You!? It's all your fault!! He's dead because of you!!!" She blamed Kellian wholeheartedly.
That day Kellian felt the worst pain she'd ever felt in her life. Ever since that dreadful day, not a day went by where Kellian was not abused in some way shape or form.
Kaila treated Kellian like a maid-slave. She banned Kellian from calling her mother. Kellian was not allowed to do anything without Kaila's permission and above all, she must never leave the house.
Kaila would always give excuses why Ein could not see Kellian every day until he stopped visiting. He believed Kellian did not like him anymore.
Ten years later. Kellian is sixteen. Her blue hair was longer and stopped at her lower back.
She had just gotten out of the shower and was dressing in an outfit set out for her. It was a plain white T-shirt with stylish blue jeans and black converses.
'These are new. Why? Is it because she's sending me to school today? Does she really care about her appearance that much? Even though she told me to never mention her she still gave me new clothes and made sure I didn't have any bruises. Sigh, I have such a great mother.' Kellian packed her bag the threw it over her right shoulder.
She applied a perfume that disguised her human scent and left for school.
After orientation, she found her locker, took out her required books then placed the rest of her books in the locker.
She was heading to her next class her attention focused on the map in her hands when she walked into something.
'Ouch. Who put a wall in front of me!'
She looked up and saw a tall werewolf guy. He was light-skinned, had shoulder-length black hair and cold electric blue eyes. He was in human form and his ears and tail were hidden meaning he was very skilled in transformation or powerful.
I forgot to mention, Kellian was 5'7" (175cm) and he was 6'1" (186cm).
Kellian was slightly intimidated by his cold aura and backed away instinctively.
"Are you not going to apologize for being blind!?" One of the girls that surrounded him yelled.
It seemed like none of them were his friends since he looked annoyed. This upset Kellian.
"Last time I checked I didn't walk into you." She retorted. She wasn't about to be talked down to by someone who looks like a clown that forgot the nose.
"How dare this—" She was drowned out by the bell.
The guy had long escaped the girls while they were distracted by Kellian. Kellian realizing this walked away ignoring the girl and her friends' mean comments.
'That guy didn't seem like he cared about me walking into him. He looked more like he was just confused. He even left without saying anything.'
'If he doesn't care I shouldn't either. But what if—' Her thoughts were cut short when someone called her name.
"Kellian?" It was a male werewolf. He was about 6ft tall and had black hair in an undercut hairstyle with blue streaks. he also dyed his tail with blue streaks. He had grey eyes and a dark complexion.
"Do I know you?"
"You don't remember me?" He frowned as the words left his mouth.
Upon closer inspection, Kellian realized he was her childhood best friend, Ein Dixon. She was dumbfounded. Kaila had told her he moved away so she never expected to see him here.
"How and why are you here?" He asked shocked but there was a hint of coldness in his voice.
"Kaila finally decided to send me to school." Kellian didn't want to include the reason she was given.
Kaila had told her she was tired of seeing Kellian's face.
"I see." He looked at her small frame and immediately marked her as weak. "Be careful." He said then walked off.
"Ein! Wait! Do you know where math class is?" She ran after him.
"I have math. Follow me."
'Something is off. He seems more distant. Like he doesn't want to talk to me. I wonder what's wrong?'
'At least I was reunited with my childhood best friend and I won't be alone. I think he still cares about me though. He wouldn't have called out to me otherwise... right?'
She followed Ein to class and as soon as they entered he walked over to a group of people and started talking.
'Did he forget about me?' She started to walk over to him and froze when she heard the words that left his mouth.
"Why's that girl staring at you?" This girl was blonde and was basically a Barbie ripoff.
'What's with these girls and wearing too much makeup and too little clothes. Like seriously why did she not get in trouble for uniform violation?'
"I don't know her." Ein lied and Kellian stood there staring at him in disbelief.
The Barbie ripoff looked at Kellian head to toe then gave her a look that said, "You don't even deserve to breathe the same air as him." Then she kissed him. She stared at Kellian and smirked while kissing Ein. The group of people laughed at the shocked face on Kellian.
It hurt Kellian. They didn't see each other for years. Of course, she knew he would find new friends and even a girlfriend but she never expected him to ditch her for them. She never expected him to pretend she never existed.
'Why do I have such a crappy life. Is it because I was born human in a wolf society? Would it have been better if I was a wolf? My dad died because of me, Kaila hates me for it, my friend abandoned me. Maybe I should just go live with the humans. Maybe they won't accept me either apparently my hair and eyes are unique even among wolves.'
'Everything wrong with my life ties back to me being human. Ugh! Whatever at least no one else knows and I don't think Ein will blow my cover.'
She decided not to worry herself with things that upset her anymore and found an empty seat, of course, it was near the front but at least it was a window seat. She sat down, plopped down her books then stared out at the beautiful sky and clouds.
But alas all good things must come to an end.
"Oi, Blueberry that ain't your seat."
She turned her head to see the guy from earlier.
"Are you talking to me?"
"Do you see anyone else that looks like a blueberry!?"
"Drop it." A red-headed werewolf said, walking past the one yelling at Kellian and sat beside her.
The redheaded werewolf had emerald green eyes and was light brown in complexion. He was about 5'9" tall and was hiding his ears and tail like the grumpy werewolf.
'What? They seem like friends so shouldn't he be mad too?'
The grumpy wolf grumbled then went to sit behind his friend but there was a really sweet looking werewolf boy with adorable glasses.
The grumpy werewolf uttered one word, "Move."
The poor boy grabbed his things and scrambled out of his seat and found a new one.
"You're new?" The redhead asked.
"Is it that obvious?"
"Yes. No one here would talk to Ryder the way you do. They're terrified of him."
"The guy behind you right? I don't get why I should be scared of him though."
Ryder was staring at the two speechless. The current Leo was one he had never seen before. The fact that it was the new girl perplexed him further.
"The name's Leondre Hamarita, Leo for short." Leo gave a charming smile.
"Leo. Stop talking to your food. It's rude." Ryder spat.
"Ignore him. What's your name?" Leo asked.
"It's Kellian Heart." She replied.
"Can I call you Kelly?" Leo requested
"Okay." It didn't matter to her.
"Mr. Edge Lord behind me is Ryder Rhodes," Leo stated.
"Pfft." Kellian almost laughed out loud. 'Ryder Rhodes. Ha! Is his middle name Ofthe? Rider of the Roads—' "Hahaha!" Her sense of humour isn't the best.
"Why are you laughing?" Leo was confused.
"Nothing." Kellian forced herself to contain the laughter.
"Weirdo," Ryder muttered under his breath.
"Do you... want to be our friend?" Leo's lips curved up into a charming but shy smile.
"Friends?" Kellian laughed awkwardly. 'I don't want to be friends with them! Don't get me wrong Leondre seems nice but he's friends with the reincarnation of the devil.'
Before she could politely decline a middle-aged lady wearing a neat grey business looking suit walked into the classroom. She had neat brown hair tied back into a bun. Her eyes were dark brown and had bags under them. It looked like she hadn't slept in months.
"Good morning class." Even her voice sounded tired.
She sat at her desk and said, "Come take these math worksheets on Transposing Formulas and finish them before the bell." Soon after she said that she collapsed on top of her desk.
"Is she okay?" Kellian asked.
"She just fell asleep," Leo explained.
"Is that normal?"
"Yup," Leo answered.
Everyone took their worksheet and began working. Kellian however finished all her problems in ten minutes and began to stare out the window.
"Ugh. This is killing me. Ryder let's work together."
Ryder was on his phone ignoring him.
Kellian got bored and started to sketch blindly in her notebook.
Finally giving up on Ryder, Leo glanced beside him and realized Kellian was finished.
"How?" He was flabbergasted. She was the new girl and had never been in class when the math was taught but she had finished the entire worksheet while he was stuck at the second question.
"It's easy."
"Hmph." Leo pouted. He was originally planning to ask her to work together but seeing the completed worksheet he no longer wanted to ask for her help.
When Kellian realized she had drawn a beautiful picture of the devil spawn behind Leo she defaced the drawing then turned to look at Leo. Realizing he was struggling with the math she decided to help.
"Do you need help?"
"..." Leo was silent he wanted to say no but he actually does need her help so he replied, "Maybe."
Kellian taught him how to do the math. Leo was actually learning and completed the activity.
Suddenly they heard a light snore. They both turned their attention to the sound and realized Ryder had fallen asleep. Leo looked at Kellian with a mischievous grin.
"Watch him. I'll be right back."
She was now staring at Ryder, observing his features. She noticed his luscious black hair that looked soft and silky. How his bangs hung over his closed eyes, how long his lashes were and how pink his lips were. He wearing a black leather jacket and a plain grey T-shirt.
'Now that he's asleep he has a calm face that definitely looks better than his usual grumpy look.' Kellian smiled at the thought of Ryder being a nice person.
"Ready to do some art?" Leo had 10 markers in different colours.
"I don't think it's a good idea. I mean he already hates me and I barely know you guys and—"
Leo cut her off saying, "That's fine. All I want you to do is choose his fate."
Kellian showed him her notebook and he was amazed.
"Wow, you're a really good artist. This is perfect." Leo was excited and immediately took the book from her.
"Wait. Why do you have a sketch of Ryder in your notebook?" Leo tilted his head.
"I just drew it without thinking earlier. I guess I drew him because I was mad at him."
"I see. Well, I'm a bit of an artist myself." Leo smirked then got to work.
No one dared to mess with Ryder and his friends therefore no one said or did anything seeing the two messing around in class but there were a few people who stared at them with jealous eyes.
"Behold my masterpiece." Leo had a confident smile.
"Ummm are sure you're still going to be friends after this?" Kellian questioned.
"Yup. He did the same thing to me last week. He won't be that mad for now." Leo placed the markers back where he found them.
"Okay." Kellian smiled nervously.
"What class do you have next?" Leo asked.
"English. Why?" She replied.
"Let's go together." He smiled.
"Okay?"
"Grab your things," Leo commanded.
"Why?"
"You'll see." He said with a smirk.
Kellian did as she was told. Once she was beside him Leo grabbed a book and hit Ryder.
"What the hell!?" Ryder yelled angrily.
Kellian struggled to hold in her laughter but she immediately shut up when Ryder glared at her.
"Wait before you do anything take a look at yourself." Leo slowly inched away.
Ryder took out his phone and opened the camera app. He then switched to selfie mode. His eyes widened in shock. The *click* of a camera was heard as Leo took a picture of Ryder's shocked face.
Ryder's lips curled up into a smile. The smile gave off cold and murderous intent. Before Ryder could do anything Leo grabbed Kellian and booked it. They ran all the way to English class. As soon as he realized he was still holding Kellian's had he withdrew his hand immediately. He looked at his hand and back to Kellian repeatedly with a confused look on his face.
"Are you okay?"
Leo shook his head then replied, "It's nothing."
"Okay. I thought you said he wouldn't be mad! He looked like he was going to kill us." Kellian complained.
"Nah that's just his face," Leo said confidently.
"Just his face!?" Kellian yelled. "I felt mad rage and murderous intent radiating off his every being."
"Mhmm. You're pretty observant." Leo commented.
"I'm pretty sure an idiot could tell he was mad," Kellian stated.
"Sigh. I know. I just didn't expect you to know something like that."
"Are you calling me dumb?" Kellian was offended.
"No. It's just that you're... Nevermind."
"It's fine. I understand. You think I'm stupid." Kellian pouted.
"I do not." He said firmly shocking Kellian.
"Ummm... Then... What did you mean then?" Kellian asked.
"It's not important. Just pretend I never said anything."
"Alright."
Leo pushed open the doors and went to his seat. Kellian sat beside him since she didn't know anyone else.
"Ryder will probably be back to his aloof self by lunch when he cools down," Leo stated after seeing Kellian's expression.
"Okay."
"You still haven't given me your answer," Leo commented.
"Huh?"
"About being friends with me and my friends."
"Oh. Ummm... Can people really become friends that quickly? And is it just me or did you say, friends?" She made emphasis on the s.
"I think so. It's kinda like love at first. People can naturally be attracted to people and usually, you wouldn't want to let that person go without trying to be friends with them. I was naturally attracted to you." He explained smiling.
"I see. But—"
"Please just consider it!"
"Okay."
"Yay! I'm sure Dexter will be happy too."
"Dexter?"
"Oh, he's my other friend. Or should I say our friend?" He winked.
"Not yet. I only said I'd consider it."
"Right I'm sorry. I'm just really excited to finally have a g– I mean– someone new in our group."
"Huh?"
"Nothing. It was just a mistake." Leo replied.
"Okay." There was an awkward silence before Kellian decided to break it, "Are you sure Ryder won't be mad?"
"I am. Like I said he did the same thing to me last week. And unlike me, he posted on Dexter's social media because I wasn't mad enough." Leo explained.
"Oh. That's mean."
"Yeah And besides. I've done things to make him angrier before."
"Why?" Kellian inquired.
"Because he made me mad first."
"Really? I can't really imagine someone like him pranking someone for fun." Kellian stated.
"You're right. He doesn't do it for fun he just likes seeing me upset."
"Doesn't sound like a good friendship to me," Kellian commented.
"No, we are really good friends. I guess he acts like that because everyone else is too scared of him to get mad so he enjoys feeling normal."
"Oh but why only you?"
"Dexter is okay with anything Ryder does, as a loyal servant. I don't know why. Plus we're Ryder's only friends so he has no one else to treat him like I do. It's fine. He doesn't do it often cause he's like an iceberg that rarely shows emotions. But you don't seem that scared of him either."
"Should I be?" Kellian asked.
"Well, I guess you wouldn't know. He's the alpha of this school." Leo answered.
"Oh... uhhh... I–"
"I know why you don't know. Ryder does too. Most of the student body has no clue though so you should be safe. Only powerful wolves will able to tell. Also, that's what I meant earlier. You guys are usually pretty oblivious." Leo explained.
"Then why do you want to be my friend?" Kellian asked.
"Because you're cute," Leo replied.
"Huh?"
"Kidding. I never get to joke like that so it was fun to try for once." Leo laughed.
"What do you mean?" Kellian asked.
"Don't worry about it. I want to be your friend because I was attracted to you I don't really care if you're wolf, vampire, dragon, human, fairy or demon. I like you so I'll try my best to be your friend."
"I see. Well, that's a first." Kellian smiled.
"Hmmm?"
"Nevermind."
"Okay."
And like that, they spent English class leisurely chatting while doing the work assigned.
Sadly Kellian and Leo didn't have the next class together. This teacher also realized she was new and asked her to introduce herself. She did and everyone was just staring at her some even glaring. She was confused but managed to ignore them.
The bell rang and Kellian began skipping to the cafeteria.
'Finally! Lunchtime. My new favourite subject. I can't wait to stuff my face with junk food and sweets.'
She then realized she had no clue where it was and began following a random girl. The girl luckily led Kellian to the cafeteria without even knowing she did.
Kellian skipped her away to the line. And tried her best to decide what to get from the extensive menu.
When it was her turn to order she had finally decided, "May I, please, have a slice of cheese pizza, french fries, a cheeseburger, a chocolate milkshake with extra whipped cream, a Hershey's chocolate bar and a slice of black forest cake."
The lunch lady laughed looked Kellian dead in the eyes and said, "No. You take slop. Only have slop. Every thing else done."
It was obvious English wasn't her first language Kellian wasn't going to get anywhere by being upset so she said calmly, "I do not want slop. I can see everything I ordered behind you."
"Look. Pretty girl. I no lie. There no food. Just slop."
"But–"
"You holding up line. Take slop and leave." She cut Kellian off
Kellian knew this lady was determined to not give her anything but slop and gave up.
"Fine. I'll take the slop."
"$500 equal slop. Give."
"$500!" Kellian exclaimed.
"Just give slop money and enjoy." She said glaring daggers at Kellian like how Kaila does.
Kellian gave up and felt her pockets. There was no money. Kaila never gave her any. How was she going to get out of this situation?
"You lady give me the money for the slop and leave! Young people these days feeling like they own the place just cause they're pretty! Do you have the money or not!?" She yelled in almost perfect English all of a sudden. She still had her accent.
Kellian realized what was going on, ' Did she just speak English properly? And is this lady trying to embarrass me because she thinks I'm pretty!? At least she doesn't know I'm human but I'm about to be an outcast because of this what do I do everyone is staring!!!'
"Hagatha. Give her what she ordered. She's with me." A long slender arm stretched out and handed the lunch lady a black card.
'Is that the legendary most elite credit card? Who in the world is using that to pay for my lunch!?'
Kellian turned her head to figure out who was the rich person spending money on her. And to her surprise, it was the last person she expected.
