The rays of sunlight felt hot on his skin. At first, he didn't really mind. But then the brightness of the rays passing through the blinds concentrated on his eyes that it disturbed his sleep. Min Jae grunted.

"Hey, Eun Young! Close the freaking blinds! Damn it!" He ordered his wife.

He rolled on the other side of the bed. However, the sunlight still felt hot on his skin. No matter which direction he turned, he wasn't able to find a comfortable position to rest with. Min Jae squinted.

"Eun Young! Are you deaf now?! I said shut the freaking blinds!" He yelled again. Gosh this woman! Did I really have to repeat myself?

Min Jae was lying on his stomach atop the bed. He was about to attempt sleeping again when he suddenly felt a warm hand sliding across his bare waist. The sudden contact was a surprise to him, yet it was a welcome one. The hand moved towards the back of his neck. And slowly from his nape, a single finger traced the back of his spine.

"Hmm?" Min Jae acknowledged the touch. Suddenly, his entire body felt awake. Just as he received the stimulus, his entire body responded quickly.

Min Jae's eyes remained closed. He was savouring the hand's tickling performance on his bare skin. As far as he could recall, there wasn't any special occasion today. Why then was this morning different from the ones he usually wake up to? Could he have possibly forgotten his birthday? Or could he have died in his sleep that he's now in hell enjoying this hot pleasure?

Soft kisses landed on his bare shoulder as the warm palm rested on his back. Perhaps it was now time for the lips to do the work and well... he wouldn't really mind. Min Jae felt his heart leap with excitement. With this, his breathing quickened too.

"Hmm, Min Jae baby, why are you mentioning someone else when I'm the one here with you? It's making Na Rae upset. You wouldn't want to upset her further now, would you?" A soft feminine voice whispered in his ear.

Immediately, Min Jae's eyes flew open. He quickly got up to a sitting position on the bed that startled Na Rae. As he was about to assess the situation, a headache suddenly pierced through his skull. Min Jae massaged his temples and looked around the unfamiliar room.

"Min Jae baby, are you okay? Come, let me kiss the pain away." The woman approached Min Jae and began to kiss his cheek, his ear and the corner of his mouth. He made no move to reject the woman at all.

"There, all better?" Na Rae asked. The woman was beaming at him. Despite her messy hair, she was still attractive in his eyes. When Na Rae held on tighter to the white duvet that covered her chest, it was only then when Min Jae realized that she wasn't wearing anything beneath.

Damn, I really did mess up this time.

This was the first time he'd gone too far. He never thought that he would actually reach this point. Flirting was fine. Making out was fine too. But sleeping together? That's on a different page.

"Min Jae, you aren't regretting what happened, are you?" Na Rae suddenly asked. The question obviously caught him off guard. Just as he was about to reply, Na Rae kissed him on the lips.

With the woman's sudden ambush, Min Jae completely forgot his answer. His mind was in chaos!

"Are you?" Na Rae asked again when they parted.

Min Jae smirked. Actually, he just realized he didn't. Na Rae was delighted with his reaction. This man was hers and she knew it. Even if it was temporary, she vowed to herself that she wouldn't let this catch go anytime soon. Just as she was about to lean in for another kiss, the phone on the bedside table rang.

The phone belonged to Min Jae. Seeing the caller's ID, he rejected the call with disgust. The rejected call was registered to the phone's log and to avoid further disturbance, Min Jae switched his phone to silent mode.

"Who was it?" Na Rae asked.

But before Min Jae could answer her, he saw the date affixed on his screensaver. Of all the days he could've fooled around, why did it freaking have to be today?

It was the 26th of October, Eun-Young's birthday.

The two were hiding behind the kitchen counter as they spied on their mother asleep on the dining table. They woke up earlier just to surprise their mom since it was her special day. Initially, they barged into the main bedroom only to see that their mother wasn't there! They only saw her in the dining area when they went down to get the cupcakes.

"Shh! Little Hye Soo, listen to oppa! Or else mommy will hear you!" Jung Hyun scolded his 3 year-old little sister.

Hye Soo blinked at her weird 6 year-old brother. She badly wanted to eat the purple cupcake but brother said it was the last one! She was originally given the task to deliver the five cupcakes to their mom but because she kept eating them, Jung Hyun decided to deliver the remaining one himself. Hye Soo cannot be trusted!

"I will explain the plan again. First, we sneak up to mommy. Don't be noisy becuse she might wake up! You Hye Soo will--hey!" As Jung Hyun was explaining the masterplan to Hye Soo, the little toddler grabbed onto her brother's hand that held the last cupcake. Mineee! Gimme the last purple yummy!

Jung Hyun transferred the treat to his other hand and raised it high so that his sister won't be able to reach it. "Hye Soo! This isn't for you! You already ate the four cupcakes!" Jung Hyun scolded the little one again. As a result, she fell to her bum in despair.

"Pa!" Exclaimed little Hye Soo. This is what she uses to address her brother as it is a shorter version of 'oppa'.

"Hey, you can't act cute again. That's mean!" Jung Hyun immediately warned as he recognized his sister's antics. After all, she always uses it to her advantage! It's true that she's really cute though. Only second to him of course!

"Pa..." Hye Soo pleaded again. This time, Jung Hyun froze in his place when he saw his evil little sister use the ultimate combo: a pout a pair of teary eyes a pitiful sigh. Oh no! The cuteness overload!

"Hye Soo!" Jung Hyun looked away as he almost cried resisting his sister. "Today is mommy's birthday! Can't we just give this one to her and just ask her to buy us new ones?" He suggested.

He was about to negotiate further but then he saw the little one already drooling just by looking at the purple cupcake. Alright! Abort mission! This little soldier is a traitor! Proceed to plan B!

Before Hye Soo could call on to her brother again, young Jung Hyun ran screaming towards his mother. "Mommyyy!" While on the other hand, little Hye Soo ran screaming towards his brother with the purple treat. "Paaaaa!"

Eun Young woke up from her slumber as she heard the kids screaming. She got used to all the screaming already but since she realized that she had fallen asleep on the dining table, she immediately sat up straight. Just as she was about to look for the kids, she saw them running towards her.

Jung Hyun almost forgot to stop. Because he wasn't able to quickly asses the distance between him and Eun Young, it was already too late when he halted. Thus, he accidentally squashed the cupcake to his mother's face. "Oops! Happy Birthday Mommy!" He cheered still.

Little Hye Soo cheered too but she was more overjoyed to see her mother covered in purple icing. "Mommy pweetty!" Hye Soo giddily exclaimed, clapping her hands at her pretty purple mother.

Eun Young couldn't help but feel warm. Even though their attempted surprise was a total failure, she was still happy seeing how thoughtful the kids were. She wasn't really expecting anything from them. To her, seeing her family happy was already enough.

"Aww, thank you sweethearts." Eun Young didn't even bother to clean up before she each gave them a kiss on their cheek. Jung Hyun and Hye Soo giggled as they both received icings too.

She gave the remains of the crushed cupcake to the kids while she headed to the sink to rinse off the sticky icing. A few seconds later, she heard the front door open and close.

"Daddy!" Jung Hyun and Hye Soo merrily cried and they both dashed towards the man who just arrived.

When Min Jae arrived home, Jung Hyun and Hye Soo came running to welcome him. The siblings were very excited to see their dad. They seldom see their parents because both of them are always working extra hard. Thus, the siblings always miss them during their absence.

"Daddy! You're back!" Jung Hyun said. Since he was a little baby, people always told him that he looked so much like his dad. Their features were very similar. Min Jae would always be proud whenever people praise his son for being so handsome!

"Hey, there buddy!" Min Jae smiled as he picked up his son and ruffled his hair. The young boy always liked it when he does that. It's because their mother wouldn't. She couldn't even stand seeing a strand of his hair out of place!

Little Hye Soo raised her chubby arms to reach for her dad. Apparently, it was her turn to be carried now. Jung Hyun oppa is such a big baby! He keeps stealing her opportunities of being carried!

Min Jae noticed Hye Soo's face became sour. Indeed the little missy was upset! Before the little one could further throw a tantrum, he put down Jung Hyun only to carry little Hye Soo next. He kissed his daughter's hair which smelt of milk and watermelon.

"There, there. Daddy's here now little one." Min Jae softly said as he coaxed his youngest child. Sweet little Hye Soo giggled in the arms of her father, happy that she managed to get him all to herself. While Jung Hyun looked unhappy to see his sister take his place, the little girl looked as innocent as a marshmallow to the eyes of their parents.

Little traitor! Huff! If you want daddy, fine! Mommy will be mine then! The young boy thought to himself.

Eun Young approached the trio. She couldn't be even more happier than this: they were a complete family. Not perfect, but complete. This was a scenario she had always dreamed of since she was a young girl. The image of her children welcoming their father home indeed lifted her spirits.

She lovingly smiled at the man before her. But since he was busy paying attention to their youngest child, he didn't seem to notice her. "Welcome back, dear." As Eun Young was about to kiss her husband, Min Jae awkwardly retreated.

He put down Hye Soo and gently patted her head. Surprised by the sudden rejection, Eun Young didn't know what to say so she embarrassedly looked away. Unpleasant thoughts started accumulating in her brain. Was he disgusted by her suddenly? Did she smell funny?

However, this wasn't the first time her husband ignored her affections. Seeing Min Jae's wrinkled clothes, she simply assumed that he was just tired so Eun Young quickly dismissed the negative thoughts away.

Suddenly, Min Jae rummaged through his satchel as if he was looking for something. Assuming it was a gift for her, Eun Young waited patiently. She then felt a tiny flash of hope flourish in her heart. It didn't matter what it was. As long it was from him, she would definitely love it!

"Here." Min Jae handed her a legal white envelope. When his wife made no urgent move to accept it, he carelessly tossed it on the coffee table beside them. "Go buy anything that you want." He coldly said, before he finally went upstairs to the bedroom.

At that moment, Eun Young felt her heart break a little more as she watched him head up the stairs. Min Jae wasn't always like this. Although she did love him more than he did, Eun Young held on to their happy memories that were proof that they somehow shared something special together. But for the past year she doesn't know anymore.

He often went home late, sometimes even drunk. He became cold and distant towards her. And worse, she noticed that he isn't wearing his ring anymore.

As the kids ran off to play, Eun Young sank down the armchair. This was all her fault. If only she became more present. If only she became more attentive towards him. If only she gave him more time instead of working do damn hard like a cow then maybe... maybe they wouldn't be like this.

Eun Young fought off the tears that were threatening to fall and breathed.
