The month is October. In a field of fallen leafs a girl is running towards a bench where a girl is sleeping sitting, burying her face on her folded hands. That girl reached the table and put down two coffee cups with a thug sound, expecting that the sleeping girl would sit up and look at her. But in her disappointment she didn't.

" Wake up Violet" said the girl pushing one cup towards Violet. Violet turn her head up, looking exhausted as if she just came back from 100 km marathon.

" Jesus!! Violet what happened?? " Said the girl as she was about to take a sip from her cup but stopped midair.

"Umm nothing Anna "Violet said as she was inspecting her surrounding.

" You never shear your problems with me, look at your face, you look horrible, how many nights you didn't sleep "Anna's voice is getting higher than her excitement

It's the first day after midterm. Violet and Anna usually come together on campus, interesting part is both of their parents house is so close to their campus that they didn't take any campus housing. But today as Anna went to her place to call her, her housemaid said she has already left for uni, Anna was surprised and also worried that Violet become absent-minded whenever something goes wrong with her Now she saw Violet in this position…she is getting excited, but also she knows that Violet would not speak a word of her own problems

" Adrian is coming this weekend "Anna said, hoping that could make Violet feel better, even tho she knows nothing about what happened to her.

" Cool "Violet said, her voice shows no sign of excitement or interest. With this expression and her stubbornness Anna got furious and about to burst out a scream, but before she could say anything Violet start speaking looking at a Vogue place

"Troy is coming tonight, we are going to have dinner together "as she said that Anna noticed Violet smiled a little. Anna knows that no matter how long she is befriended with Violet, she always prioritize Troy more than her, some of this makes Anna sad, but she knows no one can understand Violet more than Troy

"But as I said Adrian is coming this weekend…it's been almost 12 years Violet...aren't you happy to meet him again... I'm so excited to get back together!! " Anna said while making little jumps while sitting in excitement. Now Violet look at her directly and asked

" Why is he coming all of a sudden? " Violet said, sound irritated.

"What do you mean??? Don't you know that he is taking admission in Harvard in law?? " Anna said in tone as if they have already talked about this topic millionth times, which they didn't of course. Violet stood up with the same uninterested expression on her face and said

" Fine than see you guys at weekend "as she said she left the table...leaving her cold untouched coffee (which was hot at first) behind.

Violet let herself get inside the central library...and found an empty bench...she sits there for some minute…than she held her left hand in front of her face and pull up her long sleeve, reveling a wound circle with a bruise.

Violet was raised by her father who is a businessman (import-export business of spice). Whom she hated the most...how could you not hate a man who is narcissist and has anger issues and most importantly...who killed your mother. Yes he did...in front of her eyes when she was 5...for the lack of evidence (with his global power he covered everything) her father was declared innocent. That man always controlled her…attest tried his best to do so...where ever she would go...about her friends...even what subject she would choose for graduate...that's where she spoke for herself...she was always good at math...she felt her mind speak to her whenever she solved any problem, it's her way of getting out of her own brain...she thought too much, always, sometime she wants to shoot herself with her father's pistol...her father wanted her to study business, in which she has no interest, so she went against her father this first time and choose math. And after that her father starts to hate Her. he would throw sharp object at her whenever he is drunk and see her around his eyes...that's exactly what happened last night, she was returning from Anna's house, and she saw her father was sitting on the dining room couch...she thought she would go pass by him...but she couldn't

"You little unless piece of SHIT !! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL DAY !! " He screamed as he put down his glass of whiskey. And she was about to leave ignoring his question, but before she could move she saw, he grabbed the glass with little amount of whiskey at the bottom, and throw it aiming her head...and to save herself she moved her left arm in front of her face and the glass shattered on her hand...leaving her with a blue moss colored bruise.

In the evening after classes ended Violet went to the Vietnamese restaurant near her campus and book a sit...while waiting for Troy, she recalled what Anna told her about Adrian, she couldn't understand why is he coming back from Pennsylvania to Cambridge to study law. Well more than that she wasn't excited at all to meet him...nowadays, she is too anxious to meet new people...even tho he is not someone new...but at the same point he is someone new...she thought, he could have become a new person now, just like she is. Among three of them Anna is the only one who is still as same as she was as kid, she still has her spark…does Adrian still have his spark ? She thought. Before she could recall more memories about her and Adrian, she saw the chair in front of her got slide back and a girl in jeans and plan t shirt sit in front of her.

"Troy!! " Voilet called out looking at the girl just sit in front of her.

" hello Violet, why are you looking so tensed " said Troy as she adjust herself on her chair.

Violet was silent, before her, she was stirring her Bún cha, which is steaming hot

" Did your father did something?" Troy said after she didn't get any response from Violet

Without saying anything Violet, lift her long sleeve

"Jesus ! Violet, did he do that? What a d!ck head. I'm telling you, you should leave that house and go live somewhere else "Troy intended to speak more, she stopped as she saw Violet shaking her head as 'no '

" You know that place is hell, I hate to live there, but that is the only place where I get to see my mother's sign "Violet took a sip as she said that

"Forget about me, tell me about you" Violet said with a pushed smile on her face

They eat as they talk, mostly they talked about how Troy is working on her semester exam and many dating story. Violet thoughts about telling her about Adrian, but something stopped her, nowadays, she doesn't share her problems or thoughts with others, not even with Troy as she used to do in her high school, After they finished, they went out for walk for like 3 blocks.

"Are you free in this weekend? I'm hosting a party at my place" Troy asked

"Why ? All of a sudden you are hosting a party? "

" Love ! We are young and beautiful! We doesn't need any reason to have party! Just tell me you are coming "Troy said as flung her both arm on the air, as if she is embracing the cold wind around her body

" Umm no…. I can't join" Violet whisper

" WHY?? Do you have any plan? ARE YOU GOING ON A DATE ? What is going on" Troy demand

Violet wishes that she could tell her, what she'd do in weekend, but again she refused to tell her the truth. But all she has to say is 'she is meeting on of her childhood friend in this weekend 'why can't she say that? What is stopping her from sharing this information...well she somehow managed to changed the subject. Violet hailed her a taxi, and Troy left, even tho she didn't want to leave that fast.

 The Weekend __

" come on , in " Anna said as Violet reached the main gate

"Violet you are late, Adrian is waiting, What have you been up you?...." Anna was keep nagging her for being late, without giving her any response, Violet went to the dining room, her heart beat is getting faster and faster, she noticed, but she doesn't have any explanation for her palpitation...and after her last two steps, the entrance wall ended and the dining area open exposed in front of her eyes...she saw, before her time stopped for few moments, she can't tell how long she was staring at the pale skin, messy hair, blue Shirt guy, who is smiling and chatting with Anna's mother, and suddenly Violet felt like she couldn't breath anymore...because that guy is looking at her Now, and he said something to her, which she can't hear anymore. Anna jolt her shoulder.

" Are you alright" said the soft but heavy voice before her

Violet sift her eyes from Anna, who was still grabbing her shoulder, to that person who is standing very close to her

Taller than her, wearing spectacles, (also blue?) , his fort messy hair is hanging over his dark brown eyes" long time "he said as she looked at him

" Hi Adrian "Violet said

" almost doing fine. How about you?

" Same goes for me "

Adrian was about to add something, but Anna's mother told her to take them to her bedroom…so the three of them have conversation in private

In the bedroom Anna was keep talking about their Kindergarten moments...and how Adrian used to cry all the time...and as usual Violet used to stay silent and a lot of other stuffs. Violet was silent, can't tell if she was listening or not, but Adrian was laughing sometimes hearing Anna's story, and sometimes he was staring at Violet.

" So Violet, what do you do in your free time "asked Adrian, as Anna was kept talking. Both Violet and Anna was surprised how he just cut of Anna and asked her.

" Umm I read books...classic sometimes thriller Misery. What about you "Violet asked

" Ohh you read books. Me too "Adrian said as he looks like his soul is back to his body now

"To go wrong in one’s own way is better than to go right in someone else’s." said Adrian

“Man grows used to everything, the scoundrel!"said Violet as she smiled a little

" Oh guys ! What are you talking about!!" Anna said with a confused face

" Oh Anna you don't know? We just quote-pair from crime and punishment "as he said he looked at Violet, who is also smiling at Adrian.

Now Violet is feeling fine, she thought, something in Adrian is still same. She felt an unknown relieve. In their conversation they found the lot of things common between them. Like both of them only speak when the topic is about books or library. And Violet could feel that Adrian is keep staring at her...which made her feel better...but why ? She don't know

In the dinner table, Violet served herself the veg dressing, Adrian said

" But you used to hate vegetables "Adrian said with a confused smile

" Well... I'm a grown up now, I should eat veggies...even tho I hate the test" Violet said

" How do you even remember that..." Anna said

" well I remembered a lot of things, how Violet hates to meet new people, how she hate to eat sweets, but she loves ice-cream...it always makes me wonder if you hate sweets but why not ice-cream...but whatever how if you scream at her, she would just leave and would never have talked to you again...her favorite color is brown..." Adrian stopped to catch a breathe.

Violet was spectacles…so dose Anna...for few seconds nobody said a word

" You have sharp memory "Violet broke the silence

" How could I forget this "Adrian said...and suddenly the corner of his eyes sparked

And for few seconds Violet and Adrian looked at each other but Anna broke the silence

" She doesn't have any favorite color now" Anna said while chewing her food

After their dinner, they have little conversation

" now I have to leave, it's getting late" Violet said as she grabbed her side bag and stood up

" Let me drop you off "Adrian stood up with her

Violet thought she would resist… But she didn't...somewhere inside her...she wants to go out and walk with Adrian in the autumn weather
