"Let's, not see each again".
As I turned away, a mix of emotions swirled within me. The decision had been difficult, yet necessary.
"Sometimes, parting ways was the only path to finding peace and clarity". That's what they always say.
But right now I don't feel anything close to that. I feel the opposite of it. I feel something like a rock pressing down on my chest and lungs. My legs aren't moving like they are suppose to . I felt cold, as if was coming down with something . At that moment , I remembered something I once said.
Its a cold afternoon, I was watching a television show. There was an episode where the female lead was crying so hard because of a heartbreak. At that time, I thought to myself, if he breaks your heart, just move on. Why cry so hard over someone?.
When I told my elder sister what I thought, she looked at me as if I had told her, someone she knew had died.
"You're so heartless. How can you say that so bluntly , about someone else's emotions ?"
Her words stung, and I realized that perhaps I had been too direct. I hadn't meant to come across as insensitive; I was just trying to be honest. I paused for a moment, considering how to explain myself better.
"I didn't mean to be harsh," I said softly. "I just think it's important to be straightforward sometimes. But I understand if it sounded too blunt."
She sighed, her expression softening slightly. "I know you mean well, but it's important to approach these topics with care. People are often more fragile than they seem."
I nodded, but deep down I still didn't get it. I remember once seeing her cry because she fought with her boyfriend. I wanted to comfort her, but I didn't know how. I couldn't comfort her because I didn't know what she was going through.
I felt helpless, standing there with no words that could ease her pain. It was as if there was a wall between us, built from my lack of understanding and her unspoken emotions. I wished I could bridge that gap, find a way to connect with her in a meaningful way. But all I could do was offer my presence, hoping it would be enough to show her that she wasn't alone. Over time, I realized that sometimes being there, silently supporting someone, can be a powerful form of comfort.
Now here I am, trying so hard to keep my tears and dignity from falling any lower than they already have, as I walk through the parking lot. That very moment keeps repeating in my mind as if mocking me for not listening to what I have been told.
"I wish I knew". I keeping murmuring to myself as a walking.
Ever since the financial crisis that happened globally, things started to change. We started having social classes, When I say social classes, I mean class division. We were divided by the government according to the wages people earned.
This division led to noticeable disparities in access to resources and opportunities. Those in higher income brackets often had better access to education, healthcare, and housing, while those in lower brackets faced increasing challenges. Over time, this separation began to influence social dynamics, affecting community cohesion and leading to tensions between different groups.
The division had three categories of people: upper, middle, and lower class. The upper class lived like royalty. The middle class lived comfortably, but the society defined the lower class as plebeian. The upper class members were the likes of surgeons, lawyers, investment bankers, CEOs, and pilots. For the middle class, they were engineers, managers, journalists, and teachers. For the lower class, they were retailers, food workers, maintenance workers, delivery workers, and housekeepers.
Each class had distinct lifestyles and opportunities, shaping their experiences and perspectives. The upper class often had access to exclusive amenities, luxurious homes, and private education, allowing them to maintain their status and influence. Meanwhile, the middle class enjoyed stability and security, with access to quality healthcare, education, and leisure activities that supported a comfortable life. Despite facing challenges, they had the means to aspire towards upward mobility.
Conversely, the lower class faced numerous obstacles, often struggling with financial insecurity and limited access to resources that could improve their situation. Their work was essential to the functioning of society, yet they frequently encountered barriers to advancement and recognition. This division highlighted the disparities in wealth and opportunity, influencing the social dynamics and interactions between different groups.
I remember how we met for the first time. I was in my last year of high school. The school decided , that we needed a trip to "restart our minds" before the national examination started. "I don't think I am ready for this trip yet," I told my friend who sat beside me on the bus, as she held my forehead to check my temperature , because the whole of last night I was sick with a cold.
She gave me a reassuring smile and said, "Don't worry, a change of scenery might be just what you need." As the bus rolled along the winding roads, I tried to relax and take in the view. But my insides just wouldn't listen to me today. I tried looking out at the world, but the blur of moving things just kept making me feel worse. By the time we arrived at the national port of the country, I was so worn out.
Stepping off the bus, I took a deep breath, hoping the fresh air would help settle my nerves. The bustling activity around the port was a stark contrast to the quiet countryside we had just passed through. People hurried by, each absorbed in their own tasks, while the smell of saltwater and the sound of seagulls filled the air. I found a bench nearby and sat down, trying to gather my thoughts. Perhaps a moment of stillness amidst the chaos would help me with my motion sickness.
I plan to change the narrative, from point of perspective to a third person. As the story unfolds, the shift in perspective allows you readers to delve deeper into the thoughts and motivations of each character. This approach aims to create a richer narrative experience, where the interactions and conflicts between the characters can be explored from multiple angles.
By alternating between viewpoints within the same chapter, the dynamics of the plot become more intricate, offering insights that might otherwise remain hidden. The goal is to enhance the emotional depth and complexity of the storyline, encouraging readers to engage more fully with the characters' journeys.
Please stay tuned for updates, and feel free to share your thoughts as the narrative progresses. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the direction of the story. Thanks again hope you'll understand.
