...----------------...

The headlines burned like fire on the front page of every newspaper.

“Business Tycoon Ajay Khurana Arrested in Multi-Crore Fraud Case”

Aditi's hands trembled as she clutched the paper. Her mother sat silent on the sofa, eyes blank. Her younger brother hadn't spoken in two hours.

Everything they had... was gone.

The reputation. The wealth. The name.

And it had all happened overnight.

She stood up shakily, rushing to the door as she heard voices outside. Neighbors whispering. Reporters already circling like vultures.

Then she saw him.

Vihaan Oberoi.

Seven years.

Seven years since he'd vanished without a trace — after the Khurana's “accidentally” destroyed his family's empire.

......................

Dressed in a black suit, eyes colder than December, Vihaan looked like the devil who'd come to collect what was owed.

Aditi's breath caught.

He didn't smile. Didn't blink.

He just walked in, like he owned the world.

"Aren't you going to congratulate me?" he said, voice like velvet over steel. "Your father's going to prison."

Aditi's eyes filled with rage. "You did this?"

"I promised him I would," Vihaan said smoothly. "Seven years ago, your father took everything from me. Today, I returned the favor."

"You're a monster."

He chuckled. "No, Aditi. I'm the man you're going to marry."

She froze.

"What-"

"You want to save what's left of your family? Your mother? Your brother's education? The house you're about to lose?" he said, stepping closer. "Then marry me. Tomorrow."

......................

Tears brimmed in her eyes. "Why? To humiliate me?"

"No." His voice dipped lower. "To own you."

Silence hung heavy in the living room, like a curse.

Aditi stood frozen in front of him, her heart pounding against her chest like a trapped bird.

"You're insane," she whispered, her voice cracking. "You destroyed my father... and now you want to marry me?"

Vihaan took a step closer. His presence sucked the air out of the room.

"This isn't a request, Aditi. It's the only choice you have left."

Her eyes burned with unshed tears. "Why? So you can punish me? Parade me around like some trophy of your revenge?"

He didn't answer.

Because that's exactly what he wanted.

The man she had once known was gone. In his place stood someone else entirely -- darker, sharper, unforgiving.

Broken Vow – 2

"I will never marry you," she spat.

Behind her, the sound of her mother's choked sob broke the silence. "Aditi..."

Aditi turned to see her mother standing by the wall, her eyes red and pleading. "Please... listen to him."

"What?" Aditi's voice was barely audible.

Her mother took hesitant steps forward. "Your father... he won't survive prison, beta. The media is destroying us. No one is answering our calls. They've frozen our accounts. The only reason we're even still in this house is because the bank hasn't processed the foreclosure yet."

She clutched Aditi's hand like a lifeline. "He's giving us a way to survive. Don't throw it away."

Aditi pulled her hand back, trembling. "You want me to marry him? After everything he's done?"

"I want you to survive," her mother whispered, brokenly. "I want your brother to have a future. You can hate Vihaan all you want... but if this is the only way to keep our family from falling into the street, then... please."

The silence after that plea was louder than any scream.

......................

Vihaan didn't move. Didn't smirk. Just watched.

He knew he had her cornered.

Aditi turned her face away, her heart bleeding inside her chest.

This wasn't a proposal.

It was a punishment.

And she was the price.

Her voice came out barely a whisper.

"When?"

A slow, cruel smile finally tugged at his lips.

"Tomorrow."

Next day :

The sound of camera shutters echoed like gunshots in Aditi's ears.

Flash.

Smile.

Pose.

Flash.

......................

She stood beside Vihaan Oberoi, dressed in an elegant ivory lehenga, heavy gold jewelry weighing down her neck, wrists, and spirit. Her eyes were outlined in kohl, lips painted in crimson — every inch of her looking like a bride.

Except for her eyes.

Those were hollow.

Vihaan stood tall beside her, hand resting lightly on her lower back, his other hand gently intertwined with hers — like they were a fairy tale couple.

In reality, he was her captor in a designer sherwani.

Reporters screamed over each other just outside the wedding venue gates.

"Mr. Oberoi, how does it feel to marry the daughter of the same man you had arrested?"

"Is this love... or something else?"

"Mrs. Aditi Oberoi, are you happy?"

Before she could flinch, Vihaan leaned toward her and pressed a light kiss on her temple.

The cameras went wild.

"I appreciate it," he said smoothly to the reporters. "If you all respected my wife's privacy.

Today is about us. Not the past."

......................

She wanted to scream. But all she did was smile.

A rehearsed, frozen smile.

Inside the venue, the ceremony had gone by in a blur. Sacred chants. Vows. Fire. Applause. But nothing had reached her heart.

Only when the mangalsutra was tied around her neck did the weight of what had happened truly settle in.

She was Aditi Oberoi now.

Wife of the man who shattered her family.

Broken Vow – 3

Later, as they posed for a final round of photographs, Vihaan leaned down and murmured in her ear, his breath brushing against her skin.

“You’re good at pretending, Mrs. Oberoi.”

She stiffened.

“So are you,” she whispered coldly. “Loving husband in front of cameras… monster when they’re gone.”

He chuckled softly, adjusting the edge of her duppata as if he adored her.

......................

"We're going to play this game for a while, Aditi," he said, voice calm. "You'll smile when I say, stand beside me when I ask, and wear this ring with pride."

She clenched her jaw, eyes burning.

"And what will you wear, Vihaan?" she asked bitterly. "Your revenge like a crown?"

He tilted his head, voice dipping low.

"No, darling," he said. "You are my revenge."

Oberoi mansion;

The Oberoi mansion stood like a palace of ice - grand, intimidating, and hollow inside.

As Aditi stepped through the towering gates in her bridal red, the cold marble floors beneath her feet felt symbolic. There was no warmth in this home. No welcome.

Only war.

The servants bowed respectfully, murmuring "Congratulations, ma'am," but she could feel their curiosity in the way their eyes followed her. The whispers would begin soon.

Vihaan walked beside her, silent, hands in his pockets — his expression unreadable. He looked like a man returning with a trophy, not a wife.

......................

"As soon as the last servant disappeared down the hall, he turned toward her.

'Come,' he said simply.

She followed him up the winding staircase and into the master bedroom - dark wood furniture, clean lines, cold lighting. There were no photographs. No memories.

Just rules.

He shut the door behind them, then leaned casually against it.

'I assume you know this marriage wasn't for love,' he said coolly.

She glared at him. 'You made that very clear.'

'Good,' he nodded. 'Then let me make the rest of it clear too.'

He pulled out a folded sheet of paper from his 10 coat pocket and handed it to her. She stared down at the list, eyebrows furrowing as she read."

......................

The Conditions:

You will not contact your family ever again. Your father's fate now rests in my hands. One call, one letter, and he stays in prison - permanently.

Outside this mansion, we are a couple madly in love. You will smile, hold my hand, kiss me if needed - and make the world believe I'm your dream come true.

You do not question me. Where I go, who I meet - none of it is your concern.

You will do as I say. Always.

You will sleep in my room. Not for love. Just for the sake of appearances. The staff watches. I don't like gossip.

And lastly — understand this well, Aditi — this is not a marriage. This is my revenge.
