Aman whispered softly leaning into the crook of my head while I was trying very hard to keep faking my smile through my husband's company's 167th anniversary party.
Zoya
Extremely. What's worse is that we're doing this on our anniversary.
I whispered back with the exact same softness leaning backwards into the crook of Aman's neck smiling at the old woman talking moons and stars with me.
Aman
I am so sorry, for making you go through this.
Zoya
Well, you better give me a foot massage after we head back home, hubby.
I replied to Aman and then turned to the old woman's husband who was now talking moons and stars, basically praising my husband's work capabilities.
Mrs. Briganza
You two look very beautiful with each other.
The old man's wife, Mrs. Briganza remarked as Aman wrapped his arms protectively around my waist and pulled me closer against himself.
Aman
Well this one better look good tonight as she took exactly three hours to get ready
Aman said in a cheeky attitude and I glared at him through the wine glasses we were both drinking through.
Host
And now, time for the announcements of the annual promotions.
The host announced and we all turned our heads towards the stage.
Aman
Finally! Say hello to the next chief editor of Nation's pride.
Aman winked at me and there the announcer spoke out his name.
Host
Aman Sharma, the new chief editor of our magazine, Nation's Pride.
I turned my head around, the smile curling huge across my lips as the whole place applauded for my husband and he winked at me.
A few more staff were announced. And later, the host told us to enjoy the evening and Aman took my hands into his slowly bringing it up to his lips. He kissed my knuckles and quickly pulled me inside his arms wrapping his other arm around my waist as we headed to the dance floor together.
Zoya
So, Mr. Chief Editor. Where are we headed to celebrate our anniversary after this?
Aman
Hmm... let's see wifey. How about to the beach in an hour?
Aman shot his eyebrows, looking at me with his cute smile and I could do nothing but just stare at his face. Dressed in a fairly expensive suit, probably the only one that he owns in his wardrobe. Today, he was looking so edible. Oops! Did I say edible?
Zoya
I can't wait. No more.
While we were still grooving into each other's arms enjoying the music with our eyes closed and my head rested against his shoulder, somebody tapped on his shoulder and interrupted our dance.
I looked up, and it was our best friend, Shreya Sharma. Yep, they both shared the same surname, Sharma. It is a pretty common surname around here.
Shreya
AMAN SHARMA, CONGRATULATIONS! I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!
Aman
*says kind of distastefully** Thanks a lot, Shreya.
I looked at Aman's weird expressions and asked him what was wrong through my eyes, but he nodded his head telling me nothing was wrong.
Shreya
Happy Anniversary Zoya!
Shreya hugged me and I hugged her back.
Zoya
Aw, you knew? Thank you so much.
Shreya
How can I forget the day my two best friends got married, huh?
She asked breaking the hug and I just chuckled in reply. Shreya then again looked at Aman and turned to me,
Shreya
I'm really sorry to bother you with your dancing Zoya, but I need to steal your husband just for a moment. There are some files left for him to sign in the office.
I looked at Aman and he just breathed out.
Shreya
Will you be fine by yourself until then?
Zoya
Oh, yeah. Sure. No issues. Work comes first. I'll wait for you at the bar.
I smiled and Aman kissed my forehead.
I don't know why though, but he then kissed my knuckles and said,
Aman
I'll be back in ten minutes okay?
Shreya
Okay, you're not going on a war mister. Let's get going.
Shreya said making me laugh a little but I noticed Aman didn't. Shreya grabbed onto Aman's arms and dragged him with her, upstairs.
