Innocent
Two Months
Silence filled the air as the tension in the courtroom increased by the minute. My heart racing with fear as I looked at the cold expression of the judge. My brother and lawyer defended me with all his heart because the last thing he would want was false news ruining the reputation of the Jones family as a well respected family in Metropolis.
Derek
Your honour, my client cannot be accused of something she has not done without solid evidence. If memory serves right, that bracelet is the only piece of evidence the police gathered against innocent Sasha here.
Sasha
Daddy! Daddy!
Please talk to me
My father's body laid lifeless on his bed that morning, desecrated with blood and multiple stab wounds. My eyes couldn't believe it. My dearest father who loved his family more than anything, who encouraged us, who helped us, who laughed and cried with us, who gave us everything we wanted laid lifeless before me. Tears poured out of my eyes as I shook his corpse, screaming my life out.
Derek pulled me away from the corpse into a warm hug, trying to hold himself from crying. I could already see the sorrow and anger in his eyes building up as he continuously stared at his corpse as they took it away on a stretcher.
Detective Gordon
Excuse me
Miss Sasha, Can I have a word?
Derek
Maybe later detective
I followed the detective to the front yard, drying my tears. Something didn't feel right but I was determined to bring my father's murderer to justice.
Detective Gordon
Miss Sasha, do you know this bracelet?
Sasha
Yes, that was the bracelet my father gave me for my tenth birthday. I never let it out of my sight after that day but it went missing a week ago. I even told Nanny Sei to look out for it.
Sasha
Where did you find it?
Detective Gordon
This was found beside your father's body earlier today. It's the only clue we have to finding the culprit.
Sasha
Please do everything you can to find the culprit and bring them to justice detective
Inspector Rachel
Miss Sasha Williams Jones, You are under arrest for the murder of Mr. Williams Jones.
You have the right to remain silent. Whatever you say will be used against you in the court of law.
I was shocked that I was being handcuffed like some sort of dirty criminal for something that I didn't even do. I mean why on earth would I kill the man responsible for my success today.
Sasha
Let go of me!
I didn't do it!
Mrs. Jones
What's going on here?
Derek and mom asked as they rushed down the stairs, shocked to see the police and handcuffs on my hands.
Derek
Let go of my sister at once
Detective Gordon
Sorry Mrs. Jones, the DNA tests and bracelet proves that your daughter is the murderer of your husband, Mr. Jones.
Derek
May I call detective Gordon to the stand.
The detective strolled coldly to the court reporter, making him swear on a bible before he arrived at the stand.
Derek
Detective, what evidence do you have against the suspect exactly?
Detective Gordon
Your honour, her bracelet was found in the crime scene that morning in the hand of the victim showing that he was struggling with the suspect.
Detective Gordon
Later that day, our scientists discovered a different trace of DNA on the kitchen knife used on the victim. It was a kitchen knife used from that house according to the maid. During the murder, nobody else was at home except from the maid and the suspect. We were able to acquire the maid's DNA which prove it wasn't her leaving our last suspect, Miss Sasha.
Derek
You make a good point detective but was a legal DNA test carried out on my client here?
Derek
So how can you prove that it was the suspect? It could have been any other person. Maybe someone from outside the house who grabbed the kitchen knife.
Judge
That is correct attorney Derek but the facts are clearly stated making it very obvious that the suspect might actually be guilty.
The word 'guilty' triggered something in my mind. I didn't want to go to jail without avenging my father for something I didn't even do. I had to defend myself.
I interrupted Derek as I stood up from my seat and smashed my hand into the table, walking towards the front of the courtroom, standing in front of the judge, staring into his deadly eyes which stared directly back as I raised my voice with anger.
Sasha
I have said it over a million times!
Court Reporter
Miss Sasha, please maintain order in the court.
Almost Everyone in the courtroom gasped with surprise, seeing the suspect raising her voice at the court officials including the judge. A bunch of police women rushed towards me.
I calmed down, knowing that the judge was willing to listen to me.
Sasha
Your honour, I agree that the facts were clear but I was framed
Sasha
I am completely innocent of the accusations held against me.
Sasha
Your honour, I never let that bracelet out of my sight until the Tuesday it went missing and a week later my father was killed. That same bracelet placed in his hand.
Sasha
And according to my attorney, there wasn't a legal DNA test carried out on me during the investigation. Therefore, no solid evidence available against me.
Sasha
I can prove my innocence.
Two Months your honour...all I need is two months to prove my innocence and find that culprit.
