Wrong Number, Right Person
Chapter: 1 Text
Hello 👋 this will be my first time to write a chat story.
I hope you find it good, cause really it's just I'm a little bit curious to tried it.
Celina
Celina Reyes (27) – Freelance graphic designer. Witty, skeptical, observant. Has trouble trusting others due to a past betrayal. Lives alone in an aging apartment with flickering lights and too-thin walls.
Rowan
Rowan Vale (30) – New tenant. Systems analyst with a hidden past. Quiet, dry-humored, extremely protective. There's something off about how much he notices.
Rowan
Unknown Number:
"hey… u still up?"
Celina
Celina:
"New number. Who dis?"
Rowan
Unknown Number:
"Oh—sorry, thought this was someone else
nvm
Celina
Celina:
Wait. Who were you trying to reach?
Rowan
Unknown Number:
someone named Ava
wrong number I guess
sorry again
Celina
Celina:
No worries. I was up anyway.
You texting lost souls at 1:42 AM or…?
Rowan
Unknown Number:
insomnia + bad timing combo
didn’t mean to bug you
Celina
Celina:
You didn’t.
The pipes are hissing in my apartment like I pissed off a ghost, so… distractions are welcome.
Rowan
Unknown Number:
Hissing pipes?
You live at Evergreen Towers?
Celina
Celina:
…Yeah. 4B.
Why?
Rowan
Unknown Number:
Same. I just moved into 5C.
Celina
Celina:
That makes this extra creepy.
Rowan
Unknown Number:
😂 agree. weird coincidence.
I’m Rowan, btw.
Celina
Celina:
Celina.
Don’t tell me you’ve got whispering walls too.
Rowan
Rowan:
Not whispering.
But my hallway light flickered twice before I texted you.
Celina
Celina:
I hate that we’re bonding over this.
Rowan
Rowan:
Could be worse. Could’ve ignored me completely.
Celina
Celina:
I almost did.
But something about your timing felt… off.
Rowan
Rowan:
In a bad way?
Celina
Celina:
No.
In a “you texted right before my lights buzzed” kind of way.
Rowan
Rowan:
Maybe I’m psychic.
Or cursed.
Celina
Celina:
If you’re cursed, don’t drag me into it.
Rowan
Rowan:
Too late. We’ve texted. We’re bonded now.
Celina
Celina:
Ugh. That’s how all good horror movies start.
Rowan
Rowan:
And all the good love stories, too.
Rowan
Rowan:
Goodnight, Celina from 4B.
Celina
Celina:
Night, Rowan from 5C.
Don’t let the hissing ghosts bite.
it's the end of chapter 1, how is it?
The other characters will someday add so stay tuned~
Chapter 2: Static Between Us
Celina
Celina:
okay. not funny.
are you messing with me?
Rowan
Rowan:
…I wasn’t even online.
What happened?
Celina
Celina:
I was brushing my teeth.
Lights flickered.
And I swear I heard someone whisper “Celina” through the vent.
Rowan
Rowan:
From your bathroom?
Celina
Celina:
Yeah. It didn’t sound like upstairs or downstairs.
It sounded… inside.
Rowan
Rowan:
Lock your door. Right now.
Celina
Celina:
Already did. Deadbolt’s on.
Celina
Celina:
I’m not a baby.
Just… unnerved.
Rowan
Rowan:
You're not being dramatic.
That vent connects directly to the old laundry shaft. It’s hollow and echo-prone.
But if a voice carried up—someone had to be speaking from below.
Celina
Celina:
How do you even know that?
Rowan
Rowan:
I looked at the building schematics.
Long story. I’m paranoid by default.
Celina
Celina:
That’s… concerningly useful.
Rowan
Rowan:
It’s how I stay alive.
You okay?
Celina
Celina:
Kinda.
Heart’s racing like I ran a marathon from a shadow demon.
Rowan
Rowan:
Want me to keep texting until you calm down?
Celina
Celina:
Yes please.
No more demon talk. Distract me.
Rowan
Rowan:
Okay.
If you had to be stuck in an elevator with anyone not famous — who would you pick?
Celina
Celina:
Hmm.
Honestly? Probably you.
You seem weird enough to make the apocalypse mildly entertaining.
Rowan
Rowan:
Flattered.
I’d pick you too. You’re suspiciously calm under threat.
Celina
Celina:
Fake it ‘til I collapse.
Rowan
Rowan:
Can I confess something?
Celina
Celina:
Is it terrifying or sweet?
Rowan
Rowan:
Depends how much you like honesty.
Rowan
Rowan:
I almost didn’t text you back yesterday.
But something told me to.
Celina
Celina:
…Something?
Rowan
Rowan:
Just a feeling. Like I’d regret it if I didn’t.
Celina
Celina:
I get those too sometimes.
Gut things.
Rowan
Rowan:
Mine’s saying I shouldn’t stop talking to you.
Celina
Celina:
You planning to?
Rowan
Rowan:
Not unless you tell me to.
Celina
Celina:
Then keep going.
Please.
Celina
Celina:
Again this.
Chapter 3: Voices Carry
Celina
Celina:
Just barely. Groggy. Cranky. Human.
Rowan
Rowan:
Fair.
I owe you a small update.
Celina
Celina:
Oh?
You finally joined a ghost-hunting group?
Rowan
Rowan:
Close.
I opened the vent in my hallway. The one connected to yours.
Rowan
Rowan:
Curiosity. Or recklessness. Take your pick.
Rowan
Rowan:
It wasn’t just dust and lint.
There were scratches on the inside of the shaft wall. Like claw marks.
Celina
Celina:
Are you serious?
Rowan
Rowan:
I wouldn’t joke about that.
There were four lines, vertical. Deep enough to catch my glove.
Rowan
Rowan:
Too precise.
Too deliberate.
Something with hands.
Rowan
Rowan:
That’s not even the worst part.
Celina
Celina:
Stop.
Actually no—don’t stop. What was the worst part?
Rowan
Rowan:
There was a scrap of fabric caught in the vent screen.
It wasn’t old.
It had a stitched name tag.
Celina
Celina:
Oh god.
Whose?
Celina
Celina:
…That’s my last name.
Rowan
Rowan:
I figured.
You ever own something with your full name stitched in?
Celina
Celina:
Not since high school. My mom used to sew my name into sweaters.
Rowan
Rowan:
The fabric looks like it came from a red sweater.
You still have it?
Celina
Celina:
I haven’t seen it in years. Thought I donated it.
You sure it wasn’t a coincidence?
Rowan
Rowan:
No such thing in buildings like this.
Celina
Celina:
I’m not going to sleep tonight.
Rowan
Rowan:
Then don’t. Not yet.
Talk to me instead.
Celina
Celina:
You know…
For someone who claims to be bad at people, you’re pretty good at showing up when it counts.
Rowan
Rowan:
I don’t show up for just anyone.
Just you.
Celina
Celina:
Dangerous words, Vale.
Rowan
Rowan:
Only if I don’t mean them.
And I do.
