~ELOWEN SCHOOL OF WICHTCRAFT AND WIZARDRY~
Hayara
(Elowen High doesn’t feel like a school.
It feels like a secret that’s pretending to be one)
Hayara
*scroll through old photos and pretend this place isn’t crawling under my skin*
[You’ve been added to a private group chat]
🟢 Group Name: House of Thrones – Private (6 Members)
Hayara
Uhh… hi? I think I got added here by mistake.
I’m a first-year, just trying to find the alchemy notes, so… yeah, definitely not supposed to be here 😅
Caelom
Who the hell added a first-year?
Ravyn
Relax. Probably just an echo glitch. Just remove them before it spreads.
Lyra
Don’t. Let her stay.
She’s already seen it.
Hayara
Seen what?
I literally just opened this by accident five seconds ago—
Lyra_Nightshade sent a photo.
A blurry image of two figures kissing in the moonlit courtyard.
Ravyn
Lyra. Delete that.
RIGHT. NOW.
Sylas
It’s too late.
The truth’s already out.
Caelom
You’re risking everything over this? Over him?
Hayara
Hold on—
That’s you… and—
Professor Hale?!
Lyra
Lower your voice, little star.
This school listens. Even when we don’t.
Aether
What the hell is going on in here?
Caelom
Oh look. The storm arrives late, as usual.
Ravyn
Tell him, Lyra.
Tell him what you just did.
Lyra
She saw it.
The glitch brought her in.
Aether
I don’t care if she was kissed by the stars themselves —
She’s a first-year.
She doesn’t belong here.
Hayara
Wow. Thanks for the warm welcome.
I didn’t realize being confused and breathing was such a crime.
Aether
Cute. It talks.
Why don’t you log out before your little mind melts trying to keep up?
Hayara
Why don’t you stop acting like a walking prophecy with a superiority complex?
Ravyn
...oh she’s got teeth.
Caelom
This is a bad idea.
We’re already too exposed.
Ravyn
She doesn’t know anything.
Just remove her before this turns into a disaster.
Lyra
No.
We don’t get to choose who the magic picks.
Hayara
Okay, I don’t know what any of you are talking about, but I’m starting to feel like I stepped into the middle of a secret war.
Ravyn
Lyra, seriously. What were you thinking?
Caelom
You just let some random first-year into the Circle?
Sylas
She’s unmarked. Untrained. A risk.
Lyra
She saw the binding.
The magic reacted to her — not me.
Aether
That doesn’t make her worthy.
That makes her a liability.
Lyra
No.
It makes her chosen — in a way none of us expected.
The mark didn't reject her. It accepted her.
You know what that means.
Ravyn
Even if it did — she’s still hiding behind a bird profile pic.
We can’t even confirm who she is.
Hayara
I didn’t ask to be added to your cursed little mystery club.
Caelom
Then meet one of us.
Tonight. No illusions. No hiding.
Hayara
...You're threatening to get me expelled?
Aether
Call it a choice.
Face us, or vanish.
Hayara
No. I'm not meeting anyone.
I don’t even know what you are.
Lyra
Midnight. East Courtyard.
Or the Council will decide your fate.
_________________________
The door creaks open. You barely glance up from your bed, where your phone is lying face-down like it just ruined your life.
A girl steps in, juggling a duffel bag, a pillow, and a half-eaten energy bar.
She pauses when she sees you
Nissa
Hi. I’m Nissa. Nissa Vale.
Nissa
No need. I already checked the roster.*tossed her bag on the other bed*
Nissa
Hey. So this is the famous cursed dorm room?
Nissa
Yeah. The floor literally creaks in Morse code. I think it whispered to me earlier.
Hayara
That’s just the ghost in the pipes.*grins*
Ignore him. He’s dramatic.
Nissa
*Laugh*Good. I’m allergic to over-possessive spirits.
Nissa
What’s with the whole gloomy “I might die tonight” energy?
Hayara
*sighs, flops on bed*
Some seniors added me to this private group chat.
Big magic energy.
Now they’re saying I have to meet them tonight… or else I get expelled.
Nissa
*sits up straighter*
Excuse me, what?
Hayara
Yeah. I saw something.
Didn’t mean to. Just… happened.
Now they’re treating me like I’m cursed.
Nissa
*leans in, curious*
Show me.
Hayara
*hands phone silently*
Nissa
*scrolls* …wait.
Wait.
No freaking way.
That’s Aether Raine?!
Hayara
Yep. Mr. Dark & Mysterious in all caps.
Nissa
*gasp-laughs*
I thought he only spoke in thunder and nightmares.
This guy’s texting?
Hayara
Still dramatic. He literally told me to “face us or vanish.”
Nissa
*mock gasp* Scandalous.
So what are you gonna do?
Hayara
*half-joking* Cry.
Fake my own death. Transfer to a normal school.
Nissa
Or…
*grins*
Let me go instead.
Hayara
*blinks* I’m sorry, what?
Nissa
They don’t know what you look like.
Your profile pic is a bird.
Nissa
I mean…
You clearly don’t want to meet them, and I clearly do.
Hayara
Why do you want to go so badly?
Nissa
*throws hands up*
Okay fine!
I just wanna see Aether Raine in real life, alright?!
He’s like a myth wrapped in moonlight and mood swings.
Let me look at him, that’s all I ask.
Hayara
*laughs, half horrified*
You’re going to get us both killed.
Nissa
I’ll glam my voice, say mysterious things, and disappear before they can smell a lie.
Easy.
Nissa
*winks*
And you’re lucky I’m a little reckless.
Now — earrings or no earrings?
CHAPTER TWO
Author
How are you cuties ?
Hayara
Okay wait—
If you're seriously doing this…
Nissa
*smirks mid-eyeliner stroke*
I am.
Hayara
Then I’m coming too.
Not like with you… I’ll just hide somewhere nearby.
Just in case.
Nissa
*pauses, glances up*
You’d actually sneak out just to be my backup?
Hayara
Duh. What if you get cursed, kidnapped, or kissed?
Nissa
*chokes laughing* KISSED?!
Hayara
Hey, you’re walking into a Circle of secretive magical seniors.
Anything is possible.
Nissa
*pretends to think deeply*
I mean… if it’s Aether, I wouldn’t object—
Nissa
Fine.
If you want to lurk in the shadows for my safety, I approve.
We’re officially a duo now.
Hayara
Good.
But we make a deal —
We go, we look, you say a few vague mysterious things, we see Aether, and then we’re done.
Nissa
*nods solemnly*
No drama. No soul-binding. No sudden prophecy awakenings.
Nissa
Cool.
Then after that we sneak back into this cursed dorm, pretend nothing happened, and eat cinnamon rolls in victory.
Nissa
*sticks out pinky*
Pinky swear?
Hayara
*hooks it*
Pinky swear.

~PERSONAL CHAT WITH NISSA~
Nissa
Alright. I’m here.
They’re waiting.
Hayara
Stay calm.
I’m behind the archway. I can’t see them—what do they look like?
Nissa
It’s dark, but… yeah. They’re all in black. One of them is glowing slightly??
That’s probably Sylas.
And one guy just turned—wait.
Holy sh*t. That’s definitely Aether.
He’s staring straight through people.
Hayara
Don’t panic.
Say the line. Walk slow. Be weird.
Nissa
Already halfway there. If I die, tell my diary I lied about everything.
Hayara
*Step out from behind the stone wall, trying to get a better view*
The mist thickens. The wind stops.
Then—
Something grabs you.
A hand slams over your mouth.
An arm wraps tight around your waist.
You're yanked backward, off your feet.
Into a stone room. The door closes with a low thud.
Dark coat dragging like storm clouds, jaw sharp, expression unreadable. The air around him feels colder, like the shadows listen to his breath.
Aether
*voice low, velvet steel*
You shouldn't be here.
Hayara
*heart racing*
I wasn’t trying to interrupt—
I just followed my friend. I didn’t want her to be alone.
Aether
So you followed her into our circle?
Uninvited. Unprotected. Unseen.
Hayara
She’s my roommate. She’s not from your world.
I wanted to make sure she was okay.
Aether
You think we’re careless with the ones we let close?
Hayara
No. But you’re… a mystery.
And mystery doesn’t always mean safe.
Aether
*staring straight into you*
Neither does' loyalty.
Hayara
So what now?
Are you going to hurt me?
Aether
If I wanted to…
you wouldn’t still be standing.
A pause. Tension thick. But his hands aren't on you anymore — and his voice is quieter now.
Aether
You followed her…
But somehow I ended up finding you.
Hayara
I wasn’t trying to be found.
Aether
Maybe not.
But you didn’t run, either.
Hayara
Maybe I don’t run from storms.
Aether
*steps even closer, voice low*
Maybe you should.
Hayara
I was only trying to protect her.
Aether
And I protect mine.
That’s why you’re not going back to her. Not when she’s with us.
Hayara
You can’t decide that.
The door behind you creaks open—on its own.
Aether steps back into the shadows, eyes never leaving yours.
Aether
Go.
Before I change my mind.
The candle still flickers behind him. He hasn't moved.
You don’t, either.
Aether
*voice cold, unreadable*
One condition.
Hayara
*eyes narrowing*
What?
Aether
You don’t speak of this.
Not to your roommate. Not to anyone.
Not a whisper.
Hayara
Why?
Afraid your perfect circle will ask why the storm let a stranger go?
Aether
*steps forward again, tone sharper*
No.
I simply don’t like loose ends with loud
Hayara
*fighting the shiver*
I’m not scared of you.
Aether
*leans slightly closer, voice like ice*
Then you’re either brave… or stupid.
He watches you for a long second — studying, calculating, unreadable.
Aether
*quietly*
Get out.
And stay out of our shadows.
You turn, but not before catching the flicker of something in his eyes — not warmth. Not softness.
Just confusion.
Like you’re the one riddle he wasn’t prepared to meet tonight.
Nissa
Where were you?!
I turned around and you were GONE.
Hayara
Long story.
Don’t worry. I’m fine.
Just… a little off-track.
Nissa
Wait, why are you shaking?
Nissa
You are.
What happened??
Nissa
Okay that was… weirdly smooth?
Nissa
They didn’t question me much.
Ravyn just kinda stared. Sylas whispered something weird.
And Caelum kept circling me like I was some rare potion ingredient.
Hayara
They didn’t do anything?
Nissa
No.
They said something like “we just wanted to see the girl behind the bird.”
Then Lyra nodded…
And they let me go.
Hayara
Just… wow.
That’s… lucky?
Nissa
They’re weird but honestly?
I think they were relieved. Like, “okay she’s harmless, let her go.”
Nissa
Wait.
Now that I think about it…
Nissa
Aether wasn’t there.
Like… at all.
The others stood in a perfect circle, but there was an empty spot behind Lyra.
The kind of spot people don’t stand in unless someone important is missing.
Hayara
Maybe he was… doing storm-boy things?
Nissa
Maybe.
Still weird.
He was the one I wanted to see most.
Kinda disappointed.
*pause*
Anyway, they think I’m you now.
Nissa
Because they trust “you” now.
And “you” isn’t me.
Nissa
But they still don’t know who the real girl behind the bird is…
Hayara
Exactly.
And that makes me a variable.
One they can’t control.
Hayara
Which makes me dangerous.
Hayara
*Looking at the ceiling*
Hayara
(Great.
I didn’t even come here for boys, and somehow I’ve already collected the worst one.)

CHAPTER THREE
Author
Hey how are you cuties?? 🪄
📍 Morning – The Grand Hall of Elowen
Your first real day at Elowen begins in the echoing vault of the ancient lecture hall. Marble pillars. Stained-glass glowing faint gold. And a cold wind that shouldn’t be indoors.
Dozens of new students settle into carved wooden benches under the domed ceiling. Robes shift. Whispers swirl like dust.
You sit beside Nissa, tugging your cloak tight.
Hayara
Tell me again why we have to wear cloaks when it’s 22°C?
Nissa
Tradition. Mystery. Cult vibes.
Just be grateful it’s not fog-proof armor.
Also… not to alarm you but…
Someone’s staring at you. Hard.
Hayara
Let me guess. Black cloak. Stormy energy. Overly dramatic?
Nissa
Bingo.
Aether
Senior Elite.
And apparently now — welcome committee.
You don’t turn.
You already feel the pull of his gaze.
Across the room, dressed in storm-black robes, stands Aether Raine — the Circle Leader of House Thorns, head of your incoming class, and apparently... obsessed with intimidating you.
But before he speaks — the crowd goes still.
You hear it: three distinct sets of footsteps approaching the stage.
A bell tolls once. Magic ripples through the air.
Evaline– Cold as Ice
Department: High Enchantments & Magical Law
Her voice is calm — cutting.
Evaline
Elowen is not a refuge.
It is a reckoning.
You were not invited.
You were warned.
Solene – Strength in Every Word
Domain: Combat Magic, Spellcasting Defense
She speaks like she dared the gods to silence her.
Solene
Magic will not save you.
It will sharpen your instincts — or split you apart.
You will train, bleed, rebuild, and survive.
Or you’ll leave without a name.
Serai – Celestial Calm with Shadows Beneath
Domain: Elemental Magic, Celestial Theory
Her voice is soft — but laced with something that chills the bones.
Serai
There are things older than Elowen beneath these stones.
Some of them still listen.
Some of them remember.
You’d do well not to wake what sleeps.
Nissa
*soft whisper*
Okay… I’m equally afraid and obsessed.
As the three Matriarchs step back, the stage shifts.
A tall figure walks up alone.
He does not bow to them.
Aether Raine – Student Circle Leader
His black cloak trails behind him like smoke. Silver clasps at his collar catch torchlight. His hair is tousled perfectly. His expression? Pure ice.
And his eyes lock directly onto yours.
He speaks without looking at anyone else.
Aether
Elowen is a game with one rule
Win — or disappear
He lets the silence settle
Aether
Some of you already think you belong.
You don’t.
Aether
*He holds your gaze*
Aether
Pretenders don’t last here.
Your pulse skips. But your face remains still.
The crowd spills out into the stone corridors. Students murmur about the Houses, the Matriarchs, and Aether’s ice-blade speech.
Nissa is still talking next to you, but your fingers are trembling slightly.
Until—
Buzz.
A single notification lights up your screen.
Not through normal channels.
Not through the student net.
This is something older.
Something direct.
📩 Unknown Contact – [Encrypted: Astral Sigil Layer]
🕯
Unknown
I know why you’re here.
And I have your answers.
—The Seventh Star
Meet me in the library. Now. Come alone.
Hayara
Be right back. I need to… return a book.
Nissa
You literally didn’t take one.
Nissa
Wait, are you okay—?
📍 Corridor to the Library – Minutes Later
You keep your head down. Your steps silent.
There’s something off in the air. Like a spell woven between the walls. Watching. Listening.
You reach the library doors.
Push them open.
No one’s inside.
Dust floats like breathing in sunlight through high arched windows. Books hum faintly on the restricted shelves.
You step deeper in.
You hear it—
A quiet breath behind you.
You turn—
And your heart stutters.
---
He’s already leaning in the shadows.
Cloak half-draped. Eyes stormy, unreadable.
Aether Raine.
Leaning against a bookshelf like he owns the oxygen in this room.
Arms crossed. Head tilted. Zero shame.
Hayara
*sharply*Seriously?
Aether
Hmm?
Oh, don’t stop glaring.
It’s the most honest thing I’ve seen on your face.
Hayara
You followed me again.
Aether
I’d say “coincidence,”
but I don’t believe in those.
Especially not with girls who get secret messages
and sneak into forbidden sections like amateurs.
Hayara
*gritting teeth*
You’re impossible.
Aether
*smirking*
And yet here we are.
Alone.
Again.
He steps closer. Not threatening — just too near.
He’s enjoying this. You hate how good he is at looking through you without blinking.
Aether
*glancing down at your phone*
So?
Who’s summoning you like a cursed princess?
Aether
Everything’s my concern.
Unfortunately, I’m cursed with excellent instincts.
A distant footstep. Then another
Someone enters the library. Not a student. Not casual.
Aether
*Moves in one sharp motion—grabs your wrist, pulls you back between two tall shelves. Closer. Closer—*
Aether
*Covers your mouth*
And his other arm locks around your waist, steady, quiet.
His breath brushes your ear.
Aether
*Whisper*Don’t. Make. A sound.
The figure walks past. Dark cloak. Gloved hands. You can’t see the face.
You’re too focused on how fast your heart is pounding.
How Aether hasn’t moved. Not even his pulse feels human.
He stays like that until the footsteps fade.
Then slowly, he removes his hand.
Hayara
*whispering* Was that necessary?
Aether
*cool smirk*
I don’t know.
But it was fun.
Hayara
You're insufferable.
Aether
And you’re bad at following rules.
We make a great disaster.
He steps back, letting you breathe again.
But he doesn’t leave.
Just watches.
Aether
Whoever sent that message…
They’re not playing games.
And if they are—
You’re the one being played.
📩 Buzz. Your phone lights up again.
🕯
Unknown
Told you to come alone
You look up—but Aether’s already walking away into the shadows.
No apology.
No explanation.
Just his voice, lazy and distant
Aether
*over his shoulder*
Try not to get killed before midterms, would you?
