"Good morning, Sleepy Bones," her father greeted, his voice filled with love but tinged with worry. Alif, fifteen in the human world but a thousand years old in the vampire world, rose from her coffin, her body still stiff. "Wakey wakey, sleepyhead! Time for school!" Her father's tone was light, but Alif knew there was something unsaid.
She stretched and climbed out of the coffin, feeling tired and sluggish. She went to the bathroom to shower and get ready, her movements slow and listless. As she got ready, memories of the previous night flooded her mind—a dream filled with fear and apprehension.
Downstairs, her friends, Ena and Fino, greeted her. "Alif!" they exclaimed. "Good morning, sleepy bones!" Their smiles offered a little comfort, but her fatigue lingered.
"I'm so tired today," she mumbled, her voice weak and lifeless. She had no appetite. Her lethargy wasn't just from tiredness; it stemmed from a deep, inexplicable worry.
In the hallway, they encountered Brenda, the campus queen, her face radiating arrogance. "Oh hey, Ali," she greeted, her tone laced with mockery. "Party tonight?" "Nope," Alif replied curtly. Brenda's rudeness annoyed her, but she chose to ignore it.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Ena asked, her voice laced with concern. Alif seemed unusually listless. "Yeah, why?" Alif replied, but her tiredness fueled her irritation.
"You look awful today, Ali," Fino said, rolling her eyes. His teasing brought a small smile, but her fatigue remained.
Suddenly, a cold voice called out. "Aliiiif!" She jumped. "Ms. Montero, are you alright?" asked Ms. Shin Lee, her teacher. "Y...yeah, I'm fine," she stammered, her heart pounding.
She quickly left the classroom, following the voice. "I know you're here," she whispered, her heart filled with fear and apprehension. A man in black, his back turned, stood before her. "Calsipher?" she asked, her voice trembling.
He slowly turned. "Good day, Alif," he greeted, his voice cold and menacing. "What are you doing here?" Alif asked, her voice filled with worry.
"Aren't you going to greet me, Alif?" Calsipher asked, his eyes filled with annoyance. "Ouch! My own niece, and you're confronting me," he said as he approached. "I'm here because I have good news for you."
"Tell me," Alif said, her voice filled with apprehension. "Do you know what happened to your mother?" The question shocked her.
"They imprisoned and tortured her," Calsipher replied, his voice filled with anger. "Verona rules Edolon," he added.
Calsipher's description of her mother's plight filled Alif with immense pain and rage. "Verona! She'll pay!" she shouted, her voice filled with determination.
"Come. We're going to Edolon," Calsipher said. But Alif had an exam! "Not now," she said, her voice filled with worry. "Okay, I'll wait for you," Calsipher said before vanishing.
That night, she talked to her father, Cleff. "I wish you wouldn't go to Edolon, but I can't stop you," her father said sadly. "Dad, I want to see Mom. I want to rescue her from Verona's evil," Alif said, her voice filled with determination.
"You know Verona is a dangerous enemy," her father said. "But I'm worried about Mom," Alif said. "I am too, I'm worried about your mother," her father replied.
Alif hugged her father. "Don't worry, Dad. Nothing will happen to me, I promise. When I return, I'll bring Mom with me." Her words were filled with determination and hope. "You promise?" her father asked, filled with worry. "I promise, Dad," Alif replied.
Her conversation with Calsipher led Alif to a crucial decision. She had to go to Edolon to save her mother. She knew it was dangerous, but she was ready to face any danger for her mother. Her love for her mother was stronger than her fear. Her journey to Edolon was not just a journey for her mother's safety, but a journey for herself—a journey to discover her true abilities and her true identity. Her journey was a test, but she was ready to face it. Her journey was an adventure, but she was ready to embark on it. Her journey was a fight, but she was ready to fight for her mother, for her family, and for herself.
"Edolon?! Are you serious?" Ena's eyes widened, worry lacing her voice. She clutched her tray tightly, her knuckles white.
Alif's response was a quiet, determined, "Yes." He stared at his untouched food, his expression devoid of appetite.
"It's dangerous, Alif," Ena insisted, her brow furrowed with concern. "Incredibly dangerous."
"I have to," Alif said, his gaze unwavering, a steely determination etched on his face.
"Then we're coming with you," Ena declared firmly. Fino, who had been quietly eating, stopped mid-chew, looking up in surprise.
"No, you can't," Alif said sharply. "It's a vampire's lair. Too dangerous for you both."
"You need help!" Fino insisted, mouth still full. He swallowed before continuing, "Someone to have your back!"
"It's more dangerous for you," Alif replied, his tone softening slightly but remaining firm. He looked at his friends, a flicker of regret in his eyes. He didn't want them to get hurt.
"We're coming, Alif! We'll bring garlic!" Fino insisted, his eyes shining with misplaced enthusiasm.
Ena elbowed Fino. "Idiot!" she hissed, a low but sharp reprimand.
Alif offered a small, weary smile. "Thanks for worrying, you two, but I need to do this alone."
"Be careful, especially with all the bad guys in Edolon," Ena said softly, her gaze filled with concern.
"Thanks, Ena," Alif replied, genuine warmth in his voice. He met her gaze, a silent thank you passing between them.
"Bring garlic! It fights evil!" Fino chirped, oblivious to the tension.
Ena's forehead creased, but a small smile played on her lips. She looked at Alif. "Sorry about him. He's… well, he's Fino."
Alif smiled, a genuine smile this time, reaching his eyes. "It's okay." He felt a warmth spread through him, a comforting sense of friendship amidst the looming danger. He knew he couldn't take them, but their concern meant the world to him.
After their conversation in the cafeteria, Alif said goodbye to his friends. A heavy bag, filled with supplies for his perilous journey, hung from his shoulder. He walked away from the school silently, his steps determined yet laced with apprehension.
As he neared the forest bordering Edolon, an unsettling quiet enveloped him. No birdsong, no rustling leaves—an unnerving stillness that spoke of danger. He entered the woods, the trees like shadowy sentinels watching his every move.
Deep within the forest, he saw a light, an unnatural glow emanating from what looked like a portal. As he approached, a cold wind whipped against his face. A familiar voice, laced with menace, whispered,
"Alif..."
He spun around, but saw nothing. The light from the portal intensified, and a shadow began to emerge. A shadow he knew… the shadow of his uncle, Calsipher.
"You're here," Calsipher's voice was cold, laced with mockery. "Ready?"
Alif froze. He didn't know what to say. The portal grew larger, Calsipher's shadow looming closer. A deep sense of dread washed over him. What awaited him on the other side? What were Calsipher's plans?
Before he could answer, a shout pierced the silence. He turned to see Ena and Fino running towards him, their faces etched with worry.
"Alif!" Ena screamed. "Don't go!"
But it was too late. Calsipher pulled Alif into the portal, the light blinding him. The last thing he saw were his friends' worried faces… and the dark, mysterious world of Edolon.
"We've reached Edolon," Alif whispered, his eyes wide with what he saw. A dark, foreboding world greeted them—a vast land filled with ruined buildings and an unsettling silence. The once-beautiful castle was now half-destroyed, its walls scarred with cracks and the marks of a great battle.
"Welcome back, kid," Calsipher said, his voice cold and emotionless. He seemed accustomed to this kind of environment.
"Half the castle is destroyed," Alif commented, his voice filled with wonder and anger. "Because of Verona's treachery..."
"You're right," Calsipher agreed, his eyes fixed on the ruined castle. "Her betrayal caused this devastation."
"Where's Verona?" Alif asked, his voice filled with determination. He needed to save his mother.
"Shall we?" Calsipher said, a corner of his lip slightly rising. A dangerous smile played on his face.
They entered the castle. The inside was even more shocking than the outside. The once-luxurious rooms were now dark and dusty. The walls were covered with scratches and traces of blood.
In the middle of the dark room, they found Verona. She sat on her mother's throne, her face filled with power and malice. Upon seeing Alif, an evil smile spread across her lips.
"Oh, you're finally back, my dear nephew," Verona said, her voice dripping with mockery.
"Verona! Where's my mother?!" Alif shouted, his voice filled with anger and worry.
Verona smiled an evil smile. "Want to see?"
"Why are you sitting on my mother's throne?!" Alif shouted, his anger rising.
"It's mine now," Verona replied, her voice full of pride.
"It's not yours!" Alif shouted, his fists clenched.
"Calsipher, I know you brought him here. Thank you," Verona said, her eyes fixed on Calsipher.
Alif looked at Calsipher, his eyes filled with doubt and anger. "What?" he asked, his voice trembling with rage and betrayal. Calsipher's betrayal was even more painful than Verona's. His trust in his uncle was shattered.
"Surprised?" Verona asked, hands on her hips, a taunting smile on her face. Alif, though confused and hurt, didn't show fear.
"Where is my mother?!" Alif demanded.
"Don't worry, you'll see her soon enough," Verona replied, her smile widening, full of malicious intent.
"You can leave, Calsipher," Verona ordered her companion, who had been silently watching.
"I've been waiting for this moment, Alif," Verona said, her eyes fixed on Alif. "Don't worry, your mother is in an underground cell. Her skin will blister if she touches the iron."
"You vile creature, Verona!" Alif shouted, rage overflowing.
A powerful energy burst from Alif's hand, a display of his power. But Verona was quick, dodging the attack.
Verona smiled, a mocking smile. "Oh well, Alif. You're too weak," she said, her voice full of disdain.
The cold gleam of the jade in Verona's necklace seemed to reflect the anger in her eyes. She grabbed Alif by the throat, her fingers like iron constricting his breathing.
"V… Verona…"
Alif's hand weakly reached for Verona's, a desperate attempt to plead for mercy. But mercy was not found in Verona's eyes.
"You're weak! So weak! Did you think you could stop me? I possess the power of the jade!"
She suddenly threw Alif against the wall, his body hitting with a deafening thud. Before Alif could recover from the fall, a green lightning bolt enveloped him, emanating from Verona's jade. A horrifying scream erupted from Alif as he cried out in pain and agony. The jade's power was merciless.
A contemptuous laugh escaped Verona's lips. She watched Alif struggle to rise from the fall, his body betraying extreme physical exhaustion. The difference in their strength was glaring; the jade's power gave Verona a significant advantage.
"Alif, can you still stand?" she sneered.
Her words were full of mockery, a reminder of Alif's hopelessness. Despite his condition, Alif tried to stand, his eyes containing a determination that masked his weakness.
"Lock him in the iron cell!" Verona commanded authoritatively.
Her vampire companions obeyed without hesitation. They roughly seized Alif, his body like a defenseless toy in their hands. They dragged him to an iron cell, the cold, hard floor awaiting his fall. They threw Alif inside, his weakness serving as his sentence.
He might begin interacting with other prisoners, seeking allies and gathering information. He might discover secret passages or weaknesses in the prison's security. His knowledge of Edolon and his abilities will be key to his escape. The story could continue with his efforts to break free, building tension and hope as he prepares for a long fight against Verona and Calsipher.
